- We will be switching our RV toilet paper after doing this vid! It seems silly but this video may save RV or boat owners tons of cash in the long run.

Follow up video using tank treatments can be found here... czcams.com/video/903XEB17kEM/video.html
Well done!
Is the winner at Walmart?
Yes... great value brand is Walmart’s brand
Since you only wander on weekends why don't you use the heads in the park? You could even clean them!
You showed cottonelle but didn't test it. 😏 Love that tp and wanted to know how it sized up.
I never considered being captivated by a 12 & 1/2 minute video on toilet paper. Butt you got me.
Thanks for such a well none (no stupid fluff) informative video.
George Moomaw haha! I consider this a great compliment. Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
I felt the same way!! Hahahaha!
Lol butt
He said Butt. Hen hen hen
George Moomaw 😂😂😂
While I haven't watched the follow up on tank treatments, that is a big one! What happens (chemical action) in the black tank is very important.
I spent my career in a pulp & paper mill. The machine runs on RV/Marine toilet paper are very short for a niche market. We would stop a toilet paper winder complex at the end of a production run, switch the wrapper section to an RV wrap, change the sheet count down on the winder for smaller rolls and start the machine back up... on the same paper! THE SAME PAPER WENT IN THE RV PACKAGE!
Good review; interesting to see the comparison. Thanks for sharing the results. Y'all Be Safe!
Very eye opening! We're still pretty new to the RV life and have been buying the Scott stuff. Think we may need to switch too!!
This was something that has been on my mind for our new 5th wheel! I thank you guys so so much for taking your time and I only had to spend 12 minutes! Thank you very much great video! My wife and I were both glued to the screen lol
Dan Tolle happy to help! It’s not a glamorous issue but it’s a worthwhile subject for us RV’ers! Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy camping!
Thank you all for sharing this information with the public! This is the information needed
You bet!
I am not even half way through and I am impressed by your efforts. Thank you for taking the time to do this challenge. It is something many RV'rs do wonder about. I appreciate it as a newbie.
Geovanni InUSA you’re welcome! We appreciate you watching ☺️
Who’da thunk that toilet paper break down could be so entertaining.
And informative. Have a great day.
One of the most simple yet useful videos I’ve seen. Thank you for taking the time to test out the real deal. I constantly have my tank sensors gummed up by toilet paper.
Thanks so much! Truly appreciate that. Hopefully it helps with those sensors! We did a follow up test using holding tank treatments. May wanna check that one out too... we ended up changing treatments. Here is that vid czcams.com/video/903XEB17kEM/video.html
Man! I wish I would have ran across this video BEFORE I bought my 8 roll pack of Scott tp for rv's and boats. Thanks for the review. I will be buying the Great Value next time.
Same!
Wonderful video. And the results really did speak for themselves!
Of all the videos on CZcams I watched every second of this one.. LOL But then again I have always wondered about this.. Thanks for taking the time to share this video..
I am so impressed that you would even consider doing a video on TP, and you did a great job. Thanks.
You're welcome!
They're such a beautiful couple. I don't think I've ever seen such chemistry in a relationship on CZcams. I know the comment is out of context, but I had to say it. Thanks for this wonderful review, as I really needed it. And I hope you both are doing well.😊
AWESOME video folks! We use the Scott's rapid dissolving just like you but now it looks like we will be changing as well. Very helpful information. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! The Scots did a little better once chemicals were added but Great Value still outperformed. Happy camping and thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for taking the time to test these. You've definitely saved me money!
we appreciate you watching!
Great video and comparison, thank you! I always wondered how much the RV versus regular paper mattered so this was great! I also appreciate the softness comparison!
vitaminbp1 you’re welcome!!
Wow, we full-time in our motorhome (having so much fun!!) and have been using the Scott's septic safe. Terribly thin, so we end up using twice as much. Ugh! Thanks so much for taking the time, money, and energy to put this test together. RV'ers around the world appreciate you!!!
You’re welcome!! We appreciate you guys watching!!!
I have read several threads on TP for RV, but this video really puts it into perspective. Thanks for "going" the extra mile!
Haha! Happy camping!
Thanks for the great review! Just picked up some great value.
Me and my wife agree, this was most likely the most practical and useful rv video we've seen. So glad you took the time to do the research. We use the Scott also but may have to consider a change. Thanks again, K & M.
Imagine Travels Thanks guys! We sincerely appreciate the support! Happy travels out there.
Brilliant. My husband and I are having this conversation atm. Re the expense also to consider the super thin tissues will for me require to have to use more then 4 tissues virus the thicker tissues.
Great video! I use Camco because that's what was recommended when I purchased my first trailer. I can tell you now after watching this video, I'm gonna start using Great Value.
The Lost Texan same here!!
I just started staying in my friends 45 ft fifth wheel and I’m responsible for the care and the maintenance of it. You did a wonderful job on the video. thanks very much on the detailed breakdown.
Robert Vitorre you’re welcome!! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Thanks so much. We are living in our camper and have issues constantly with Scotts and it actually got worse when we switched to Scotts because we where told it was recommended by the rv store. Thanks again for taking the time to do this. GOD BLESS!
Thanks for your evaluation!
I was curious about RV tp and you have answered my curiousity. Thank you very much for your research and efforts!
American Patriot Happy to do it! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Awesome job, you two! This actually helped me a lot. I've always wondered about this for my rig.
Maria Welty so glad!! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Great, scientific way to choose the right TP for an RV. Thanks!
Susan Carlson you’re very welcome! 😊
I have now switched and we are now fixing to have our 1st pump out with it. We have a 33FT Forest River that sits in a campground year round and it is more important to have a good breakdown of the TP for this reason. Thanks!
I always thought RV toilet paper was a ripoff. Thanks for your video. Great timing.
Thank you for taking the time to do this!
Of course! I hope it was helpful!
Thank you for all your research for this video. Probably 1 of the more informative videos I've seen. We have used both the CampaChem & the Thetford in the past & found both to be rather thin & scratchy. More recently, like you, we have used the Scott but after seeing this video, the Great Value TP is probably the way we're going to go (pun intended) Thanks again!
Marcy Webb 😂😂💩 thank you for the engagement... everyone’s story adds to the video! Happy camping!
Great review! We love watching your videos. We are in the north Ga mountains as well. Keep those campground reviews coming we use those to know where to go.
Adam Fowler we certainly will! Several more Georgia State Parks and some COE’s this year. So glad they’re helpful. Thank you for engaging with the channel!
Interesting video, I am just getting started with a bus conversion and I am still debating composting over flushing. This is very handy to know, thanks for posting this information.
I didn't need to know but I am glad I watched. Thank you. Very informative.
This was surprisingly fun to watch. Good job! We are using the Scott RV paper and i was skeptical it was really the best. I think they just slapped RV on the package.
I like that you did this video. I think if you have a water saving toilet one ply is best. The thick stuff can sit on your sensors.
One of the best videos on this subject I’ve seen yet. I’ll be trying Great Value for this year’s adventures.
Cummins Camping sincerely appreciate that! We’re switching too! Thanks for watching and commenting.
New to your channel. Great review and very thorough. Safe travels my friends.
5 times cheaper than the specialty stuff .. that's quite a savings over an entire camping season! Thanks for your video.
Great video on a touchy subject.
Thanks for such an informative video. We currently use the Scott RV TP but will try the Great Value TP next trip to Walmart. As a side note, I dump about 1/4 cup of Simple Green down each sink and the shower drain and 1 cup into the toilet (after dumping and rinsing) before we break camp and have never had issues with the sensors. I started doing this primarily to break down any grease/oil residue in the grey tank but it also keeps the drains from giving off any odor. Just my .02 cents worth. Happy Camping!
Good set up for your next trip because except for the toilet none of that is making past the sink P-traps .
GREAT INFORMATION.!
Thank you for taking the time to do this experiment. I've been curious as well. '
We are newbies to the camping world and loving yalls videos. Y’all are so much fun to watch!
Welcome!! Don't hesitate to say hi if you see us out!!
Ty for sharing your findings and taking the time to do the test on the paper products. Most Rv and boat heads do need the ez break down type. Ty again, and HUGS and blessings for ALL your family. 🌠🌌🏞👍😎. HUGS from NY State. New subscriber here
Welcome! So glad you're here. We love some hugs... right back at ya!
Happy Easter. Looking forward to seeing more videos soon. 🌞🦋💐. Happy Holidays for whatever holiday you celebrate .
Charmin Ultra Soft, very nice and breaks down well..
Robert Moore Charmin didn’t fare too well in our follow up test. Folks swear by it though so if it works for you then keep on wiping 😊.
Thanks for doing this! I got lucky and was already using great value 2 ply. Will definitely stick with it!
Great test information! We are new RVers, and need all the advice we can get.
Very thoughtful to test all these brands... Thank you
You are welcome! Hope it was useful!
We just bought a Travel Trailer and were wondering what kind of TP we needed to buy. Thank you for providing this video. Now I know I can buy Great Value! Thanks SO much!!
You are welcome!!
Been using regular Scott, no problems. Will put great value in the rotation.
Great test! Thanks!
This is a game changer for a lots of peoples 😜and saves a lots of Time for cleaning black tank🤓🤓🤓
Great video 👍 is not about what you present 🤪 but how you Do it👍
Great presentation and setup🤙
Thanks for doing that. Always wondered and thought Scott 1000 was what I should have been using. Now I know....
I liked your test . We were just trying to figure out what toilet paper was best to use in our RV, you saved us the time and effort, Thank you.. We will go with your recommendation.
You are amazing and greatly appreciated. Thanks so much
Thanks for doing this...I've always wondered this but never tested it!!
Love it! It really answered a big question for me.
Very good video, I always wondered about RV/ marine TP.
Great value is where it’s at! Haha love this video and that you guys did the experiment
Sam's club MembersMark breaks down very well also.
Greetings from Australia. We are getting our first caravan next year and this was something I'd never thought of. Now I'll do some research on the brands we have here in Australia to see which one is best for us. Thanks for the video, we've so much to learn!
Greetings!! Let us know what you find!
Great video, results were surprising thank you.
Great video! Thank you. We are going to switch to Great Value! I love your faucet as well. See you on the road!
We're switching too!! Safe travels!
Here's the faucet... amzn.to/2Ts6Dfb We took a chance on a cheapo and after a year we've been happy!
All that extra fire starter lol great review! Thanks so much for your time on this!
Ha! Thanks for watching!
Another that breaks down well is the Kirkland brand from Costco. Decent softness as well.
Kirkland caused pyramid for me
@@mozberg2191 I’ve been using it fo about 7 years, and never had a problem. Might depend on what chemical is used.
We have used White Cloud TP in our trailer, and it breaks down almost within 45 seconds and its soft. But this was still a very informative video, and thanks for posting it.
I use Cottenelle along with a tank treatment & have never had any problems. I have a 50 gallon black tank with a Camco Tornado black tank washer and use a Valterra Sewer Solution system. It uses a small hose (1" dia?) and the force of the water used to flush the waste to the dump station works great. IMHO it works better than the large diameter hoses because once the tank valves have been closed the fresh water rinses the entire system. Since it's just me in the RV a 50 gallon tank would take a l-o-n-g time to fill up but I try to flush it when it's about 1/3 - 1/2 full to reduce unneeded weight.
The RV Geeks did pretty much the same test as you did & when I discovered the Cottenelle breaks down easily I started using it.
Good informative video - thanks.
Al Ewers great insight! Thank you for engaging the channel. Every comment helps the next viewer learn a little more. Happy camping out there!
Ha, just found your video, thx for the test. I will be buying the great value for home ( septic ) and our RV... 👍
Awesome! Great value from wallmart! cheap and a bit soft. Thank you
You bet!
Thanks for the tip. I am actually heading out to pick up some RV supplies. I usually just use the RV brands but I think I’ll give your suggestion a try. Safe travels and happy wiping.
EOW weekend RVer appreciate you stopping by! Happy camping!
Very helpful video. Great job!
RVing With Schaef thank you! Treatment testing is currently underway so stay tuned for that vid!
We like to use the Scott brand when camping thinking the name is good, after trying the feel was good and we stuck with it. After seeing this review we may have to switch. Very good review, thank you for taking the time to share and safe travels👍
Angel Torres same here! We have 4 unopened packages of the Scott’s on the RV... I guess we will use it in the house now and get the Great Value!
Nice, excellent video. Very thorough. Thanks folks. I think the most important thing is the paper being septic safe. Happy n safe RVing
Maybe... but keep in mind all of these papers were labeled "septic safe" and broke down differently. I dunno?!
@@WanderingWeekends yep, true. Its amazing how sometimes there are so many products out there that all do basically the same thing, some way too expensive and some very affordable and cheap. Even with gas, prices being enough different so as to plan our refueling a little bit. Our local gas stations are a ripoff compared to just an extra 10 or 20 minutes further. Buyer must always beware. God Bless
Blessings to you guys!
The key is too always make sure there is plenty of liquid in your black water tank. It should be allowed to get close to full before dumping it and your should add some water to it after that.
I realize your comment is several years old, but if you have a moment to reply, I'd appreciate knowing why you recommend letting the the tank fill up. I won't be using an actual black water tank, just the holding compartment on the portable toilet itself. I'm getting ready to take my very first trip in my campervan and have never used one of these toilets and know nothing about their proper care that isn't in the owner's manual- which offered no information about his. I'd be very grateful if you could share from your experience and educate me a bit. Thank you very much!
Did a few tests myself and found "no name" Bathroom Tissue and Camco TST orange drop ins, both from wallyworld, to be the best combo for me. No bad smells, no strong cover up smell, no problems, easy tank release, will continue to use. And I live in my Outback since I retired. Lovin' it, can clean in half an hour and no grass to cut in the hot humid south lol!
Well planned and well done video. Thanks for the info. Great value looks like a good solution.
BRUtube3269 Thanks! Sincerely appreciate it. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Thanks for this video. We use the Scott RV paper too, gonna have to switch to the great value brand. Thanks!
Helen Meyer you’re welcome! Happy Camping! 😊😊
Thank you. I was actually about to buy Scott. Appreciate your video
Roxane McDaniel we are grateful you watched!!
We use Angel Soft and have never had a problem in the three years we've been camping. Love the video!
Scott Michel Angle Soft did better than the Scott “rapid dissolving” we were tricked into using!! 😂😂
@@WanderingWeekends it's all in the name! Lol have a great night.
That was a fun video, thanks
Great information. Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching and commenting!
Great information! Thank you for doing the research so we didn't have to. (smiles)
Thanks for your time to figure this out! Sure helped me.
So glad! Happy camping!
Just an FYI, I did my own trial, in plain water, with the Big Lots brand that I had in hand. Same flip flop action as you, 30 minutes, etc. and it was probably 90% dissolved by the end. So not I have two choices, Great Value or Big Lots, depending on where the nearest store is.
Great info! Thank you!
Thanks for doing this. I hate paying for rv toilet paper. Picked up some great value for this spring.
Shirley Gray you’re welcome. Hopefully you saved a buck or two! Happy camping!
I RV Full time and empty both tanks at the same time. Black tank first then grey to clean out the hoses. The toilet paper I use is regular old tp from the dollar store. Its already the cheapest stuff for sale and it works really well in the RV. As far as the amount of breakdown...they all breakdown eventually. If you're like me and drain every week or so then you'll never have a problem. Every 6 months or so I stick the black tank spinning cleaner into the toilet and it cleans off the sensors. But I don't get bent out of shape if my sensors are out of whack. Its a simple clean up with the spinner and its done.
Darn... haha 😄
You guys are getting very practical here! Thanks for the fun and actually very important review.
Cheers, Eric
Anytime!! Haha
@Wandering Weekends so after using this brand for 4 years, is it still your favorite pick? 😄 We are so excited, we picknup our Grand Design XLS 22MLE in 2 weeks!
Yes it is!
@@WanderingWeekends thank you!
I buy Scott, and in my RV systems, and we have two different campers that we use, often, but we also use RidEX with our campers to keep the smells down, and to break down the waste and it works very well too.
I like Scotts, and for us, it is the best. We don't like Charmin, or Cottonelle, just our Scotts. I use RidEX at home too, we have a septic system at our home, no public sewer. So it works well for us.
Everyone has an opinion, and even if it is different than mine/yours, doesn't make it wrong, just different.
We use what we do because it works for us.
LOVED THIS VIDEO VERY GOOD EXAMPLES!!!
Something I was taught yrs ago by my dad. If you're going to a park with full hook-ups, wait till you arrive to dump your tanks. The driving will agitate the stuff and help expedite the breaking down.
Roy Davis maybe if you’re going park to park but we’re just weekenders so we arrive/ leave empty. Black tank flush and clear elbow at the valve has been essential for us! Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy camping!
Wandering Weekends I
@@WanderingWeekends i bought a clear elbo to connect to my TT with a black tank flush. TT is 2 years old. There was stuff in the tank that was in there for a while. Great investment. Like the TP information
Excellent information..AND you two are funny...thanks!
you're welcome!!
Thanks for the video, I am fairly new to RVing and always wondered about this.
You're welcome!
Great info. Thanks.
Ty for sharing...great info
Great job... Love the insight.... Finding that Great Value Everyday Soft is rare as hens teeth... We'll keep looking though..👍😁
Oh wow... where are you located? It's all over the place here in northern GA. Hope you have better luck finding some!
@@WanderingWeekends NE Ohio.... everything on Walmart's website says that it is out of stock. There's a chance that they might be changing it because ours listed as a blue package and it says Ultra Soft. So either they're changing the toilet paper or just changing the packaging one of the other. At least here they are. Will keep on looking.
OMG, thank you for this!!! Never in a million years would I have thought that I would subscribe to someone's youtube after watching only one video and it being on doopah wipe!! You two are awesome!
Awe! Thanks! We think its funny many of our subscribers have "met" us through this vid. If we end up being the TP couple we're good with it! Haha.
@@WanderingWeekends Seriously,. this experiment of yours helped us even in our home. We live on a mountain and have to buy the RV type toilet paper due to the septic system. I hate it :-( This not only helps us with the van/camper we are currently working on to start traveling, but our home as well. Warmest Regards, Eileen and Bill
Great Video! thanks for doing the work!
Brian Richardson you’re welcome! Thank you for watching and commenting!
"Happy wiping" 😂 Thanks for the video
:-)
My wife and I have been camping with all kinds of RV's for many years. We have always used "septic safe" toilet paper and have never had any problems with our black water tank. Of course, as with most RV systems, proper use and maintenance are key.
Gale Brown a sincere thank you for commenting. These type of real world insights are invaluable for newbies out there who really have no clue where to start. So much conflicting info out there. Thanks again and happy camping!
