- This is a 35mm scan of the final trailer for Highlander Endgame. I own the 35mm reel and it was scanned by @retrofilmtrailer1137; check out their channel here and give them a subscribe: / @retrofilmtrailer1137
This trailer is infamous for including several special effects sequences that were never intended to appear in the final cut of the film. These shots exaggerate Kell's abilities and were filmed exclusively for the trailer in an attempt to make the film appear more exciting. These shots include:
00:29 - Connor slicing Kell in two
00:34 - Duncan and Connor leaping through a portal
00:39 - Methos saying "There has never been a more powerful immortal"
00:41 - Kell stopping a sword in mid air
01:14 - Kell holding Connor's head in a glass sphere
The trailer was designed to be matted (cropped) to give a widescreen picture when projected in cinemas, but this video shows the whole of the 35mm frame. Note that the aspect ratio changes from shot to shot and special effects are often incomplete towards the top and bottom of the image. A widescreen version can be watched here: • Highlander: Endgame - ... - Zábava
Let me be the first to say that is the best looking version of this trailer that I've ever seen. I like to revisit the trailer from time to time as a morbid curiosity....since they openly lie to the audience right away.
Thanks! I was really impressed when I got the scan back. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
It's amazing just how brazen they were in misleading the audiences.
@@LaserdiscTurtle The Weinsteins were all about inserting fake scenes into their movie trailers. If you watch the original trailer for Reindeer Games....you can see Ben Affleck jump off a cliff....which is fake as well.
@@pitdeadite9937 huh, I never realized they were just shot for the trailer. I thought they must have made some changes for the released film.
@@kylepeterson4147 This is also the case. A lot of context and connections with the series were cut out of the film. So far, all the scenes are not available.
The unused, were never meant to be for the movie. Highlander Endgame was the only movie that has this for the trailer, however I'm sure that there are a few more
Wow im not crazy. Ive been looking for this for a long time. No one believed me when I said I saw the villain get siamese cut and morph into two on a tv spot. No one else remembered it and it started to feel like a Mandela Effect. Thanks for posting this.
still remember this exactly from twenty years ago.
I'm actually glad they took out all the supernatural stuff but I'd like them to release a bluray that has all the cuts or versions of the film.
Here's the thing the supernatural stuff was shot for the trailer and given that this was produced by Harvey Weinstein he had a notorious reputation of shooting scenes exclusively for trailers to generate buzz
@@nicklander3301 Is there a source for that? The only thing that looks like it was made for a trailer was the shot of Kell holding the glass globe. Other than that the trailer is fairly accurate, using mostly scenes from the movie and telling us it's about the two heroes fighting some hobo.
What especially baffles me about it is that they essentially made the movie they were advertising, sans the MacLeod team up I guess, with Highlander III which already leaned into the concept of a supernatural bad guy akin to what’s presented in this trailer and it’s not like that one did particularly well. Something Endgame, for all its flaws, should get credit for is not giving into reliance on crazy gimmicks as the previous two films had with the aliens and sorcerers but at least attempted to tell a more character-driven story instead.
Badass! Saw this movie in theaters and watching it right now on DVD!
The previous trailer had no fake scenes but reused a few shots from The Final Dimension (or The Sorcerer) to hide the fact Connor had no quickening.
The best trailer for Endgame was the very first one but it’s so difficult to find online.
I think I know the one you mean. Randomly I have the DTS CD for that trailer, but not the visual side of it. I do see that 35mm trailer come for sale every now and then, so if I can ever get it for the right price you can be sure I'll be uploading it here too.
@@LaserdiscTurtle This is the one I’m referring to:

@@LaserdiscTurtleIn that trailer they show part of a scene where Duncan introduces Joe to Connor.
There was a cool teaser for Highlander 3 that I've never seen since the theater with Conner narrating while a first person camera moves through the steel mill where the final battle takes place. I think it was still called The Sorcerer then. (Here in the States.)
as strange as it looks, too bad this trailer wasn't a bunch of misdirection and fake scenes that never appeared in any released version of the film
Did Don LaFontaine say Among Us at 0:12?!
Do you have the whole movie in this format? Jesus that looks good.
Sadly not. I always keep my eye out for anything Highlander on 35mm but sadly the two Miramax films seem to be the hardest to find anything of.

Where can I get this version ?
I don't think it's available anywhere. This trailer was meant to market and hype up the movie, nond of those scenes were meant to be on the film, or so I was told by someone I know who was involved in the making of the film.

Not the best movie, but far from the worst. Out of the Highlander films it is easily in second place, but if they added all that mojo from the trailer it could have been right up there with the worst which is shared equally 2 and 5.
My headcanon is Highlander 1, The Series, Endgame. I kinda wish Endgame would have been season 6 for the TV show. The story would have had time to expand and who wouldn't love a lot more Christopher Lambert? Shit, could have even brought in Roger Daltrey as Fitz for a few flashbacks to see his chemistry with Connor. Oh, the possibilities.
