Highlander 2: Rebuild - Fanedit Trailer
I've spent quite a bit of time undertaking fan preservations of the various versions of Highlander II before they are all lost...so I finally decided to put together my own take on the film:
Highlander II: Rebuild.
And then I got bored and put together this very tongue in cheek trailer.

About the Highlander II: Rebuild (H2R)
This isn't an attempt to "fix" the film to make sense with the original, nor a kitchen sink edit where I try to include every possible shred of material available, nor just the Renegade Cut with Zeist put back in. This is an attempt to rebuild Highlander 2 from scratch to make the best film I can out all the material available. I went through each scene and rebuilt it shot by shot, cutting or adding lines/shots/frames where I thought they were needed. Using the shooting script as reference (but not gospel) I restructured the film and brought back a few abandoned subplots.
It would be impossible to list every change in this edit but here's a taste of what to expect:
-Zeist!
-Red Shield.
-I've tried to structure and pace the opening of the film to better introduce the viewer to the settings and crazy world of Highlander 2, without relying on a lazy opening text crawl. It's still a bit of wild ride as the film has to set up two worlds completely alien to the audience, but hopefully the viewer shouldn't feel lost for long.
-I've done what I can to restore the character of Louise. In all released versions of the film she has little purpous beyond the bland love story, but now she hopefully comes across as the independent terrorist leader she is!
-I've removed many instances of un-needed attempts at humour. This helps to concentrate most of the film's humour on Ramirez who is the comedic core of the film.
-I've done what I can to add a bit of depth and tension to the film's flimsy love plot. Part of this came naturally through repairing the character of Louise, but removing what the director calls the "banging against the wall" scene helped too. Now their relationship forms at a slower, more natural place, with their first kiss coming at a much more satisfying moment.
-I wanted to make Katana feel like more of a threat so I cut out all the pop-culture references I could and toned down his zaniness.
-I restored some missing subplots that were scripted, filmed, and dropped; mostly relating to the "sky writing" subplot, Zeist, and the power of the Quickening.
-I attempted to complete unfinished effects shots in a manner consistent with the 1991 look of the film.

still remember this exactly from twenty years ago.
Not the best movie, but far from the worst. Out of the Highlander films it is easily in second place, but if they added all that mojo from the trailer it could have been right up there with the worst which is shared equally 2 and 5. My headcanon is Highlander 1, The Series, Endgame. I kinda wish Endgame would have been season 6 for the TV show. The story would have had time to expand and who wouldn't love a lot more Christopher Lambert? Shit, could have even brought in Roger Daltrey as Fitz for a few flashbacks to see his chemistry with Connor. Oh, the possibilities.
Technology Connections brought me here! Those DiscoVision sleeves that looked like a leisure suit were so ugly. They were already dated when this video was made. 27:40 Translation: Give us money!💰 Of course, these early machines were prone to being faulty. It was the 80s after all. Nothing seemed to work right back then.

Nicely done, my friend! I like the reinstatement of the yellow shield from the original script! This is actually a welcome sight after hearing about Archangels and the second coming in the Highlander Heart discussion yesterday!
Ha ha, thanks! The shield is still the original red/orange from the theatrical cuts in this version, but I've added back the "Shield graffiti" subplot that was cut early and never had its effects completed. I cannot overstate just how wild that Yellowknife script is! Sadly neither I or the Highlander Heart team are in a position to share it, but I hope fans get to read it some day...it's just nuts!

I’m confused, can’t find this blu ray set anywhere? Is it canceled? Out of print? Or delayed?
I don't really have much to share other than what's in the pinned comment. This Blu Ray set has not yet been released, but as far as I know it has not been cancelled either. At the time I was asked to make this trailer the understanding from all parties involved was that the release was "coming soon"...but that didn't turn out to be the case. I honestly wish I could say more...and as a fan of the franchise I wish the box set was sitting on our shelves right now.

When I was a kid in the 80's a friend of my from a well to do family had a laser disc player, it was like something straight out of Star Trek as far as I was concerned. I remember watching "Aliens" with them on disc and being blown away by the deleted scenes, something that seemed so new and exciting back then.

29:20 330x480 resolution? That sounds awful but she is correct about that being a 25 percent or so improvement over tape; VHS has about 280 lines or so of horizontal resolution, which is 280x480. Also, I know that 1990s LaserDiscs had *much* better color than VHS did.
I remember my friend buying a Pioneer Laserdisc player when they came out with his student loan money. He also bought an expensive, loud stereo to annoy the neighbors. I remember watching Top Gun with the sound turned halfway up thinking how cool it all was and wishing I could afford one. I wasn't willing to take out access student loans to get one.

How much were VHS tapes at the time? I remember when I was a kid a terminator 2 laserdisc was $79.99 where a VHS of the same movie was $19.99.
Terminator 2 originally cost $99.99 on VHS.

Big 'ol NOPE on the updates🤷 As per usual for the last 15 years with this franchise🤦 In about 5 years we'll get another big "announcement", followed by months-to-years of silence, which will indicate that we should just give up on THAT one too🙄
