So just out of curiosity, how many were upset that we didn't get one last fight between Soldier Boy and Black Noir
Me, Noir was my favorite character :(
Noir's death was awful writing. Maeve and Soldier Boy should have died in his place.
I am, mostly because this technically amount to nothing in the end. Like the presentation. Though we can already guess what happened without by what the other's have said and how the basic flashback of the woman had with Soldier boy and the other heros.
So as much as I like this. This was basically pointless knowing he gets one shoted off by Homelander. Real let down to be honest.
I was hoping that noir would get redemption and almost kill soldier boy, but homelander stops him cuz he's his father
It would’ve just been the same outcome as in the other flashback
Edgar asserting dominance by eating almonds will never not be funny to me😂
It's a power move, for certain
@@monicamclaughlin3494
Well said, Monica Mclaughlin... Seems that moment *Stan Edgar's asserting his dominance by eating almonds* feels like a 'power move' as you're said right then...?
@@monicamclaughlin3494 it's like a better version of what Jessie Esenberg's Lex luthor was trying to do in Batman vs Superman with those Jolly Ranchers by putting them inside some guy's mouth.
It's probably also for his protection against Black Noir. Edgar was a smart man.
@@RobReignhell black noir was a bootlicker for Vought so I don't think Edgar ever needed protection from him.
I like how they were creative at making flashback that instead of wasting a lot of budget, they decided to make a cartoon animation portraying how they defeated soldier boy which is quite practical.
Animation is expensive
Lol, the animation looks good, and animation by itself is costly
Ohh, sorry so you mean CGI that can be used in flashback is way more cheaper and the actors that will be pay to be involve in the scene definitely cut a lot of costing?
Animation may just be more expensive than live action, not a hundred percent sure but it’s possible for sure

Low key the "bravery isn't having no fear bravery is having fear but you do it anyways" quote could be a genuine hero quote and it felt like it would be a change of heart for BN to become a real "hero"
I was really hoping BN would join the Boys next season and try to take down Vought/homelander
@@hackysackofficial well, the creators did say BN as a hero was going to make a return. Maybe this new BN will do the original some justice.

Unfortunately it's incorrect by definition. Bravery is acting without fear. Courage is acting in despite of fear.

Mindstorm trapped him in an endless nightmare but the only difference is soldier boy will never die of dehydration. He was stuck there until he broke out of it in his own mind. That's pretty badass
Really? I thought he was being kept in a chamber with that russian gas
@@quensoueu1 he was but mindstorm put him in a trance shortly before the gas. It means that he was in an endless nightmare until he came to. You can't wake up someone who's under mindstorms power. @@DrumCoversFromHell I doubt mindstorm could put sb or HL in an endless nightmare

@@RobertEdwinHouse9 well we saw it. It was the last thing done to him before crimson countess put the gas on him
@@DrumCoversFromHell mindstorm was not able to put him in a trance because he closed his eyes and avoided it. Great line, this applies to anyone with a past trauma.
True
Jesus, poor Noir. Even the cartoon has you feel how brutal that attack was.
I mean cartoon did a much better job at showing how brutal it was than live action
I must be the only one who sees payback in the wrong here. Soldier boy was much less horrible than homelander and the team decides to defend him in the end? After all that? It's not enough to drive me away from season 4, but its ridiculous honestly.

Right? It just sounds cool
what makes this fight scary in hindsight is that Payback won out of pure luck, if it wasn’t for Mindstorm, Soldier Boy would have crushed them all like bugs and even though it was all in cartoon form, the idea of Soldier Boy looking that angry and remorseless while violently mangling Black Noir is genuinely creepy and off putting, no wonder why Payback and especially Noir were scared out of their minds when they heard Soldier Boy has returned, he was just THAT dangerous
If it was a fight between pure powers, soldier boy would have destroyed them, lucky they had that gas to knock him out.
he was just a douchbag homelander but worse
The reason he looked so angry is because they betrayed him and hanged up on him.
@@BruceWayne-fj9bm
So then, Brucie... They're *just betrayed him and hanged-up on him* (Soldier Boy 🦅) alright 🤔?
@@BruceWayne-fj9bmHard to call it a betrayal when he beat the living shit out of them for years. He deserved this fate 10 times over.
Man the actor for Black Noir was superb in this scene. Without saying a single word, only expressing through body language you can see the all his emotions he goes through as the cartoon played out.
Thought you meant the cartoon version for a sec
Using schizophrenic hallucinations as a mean of backstory exposition is a stroke of genius
Noir hallucinating about the talking animals and not being able to talk himself makes sense due to the massive amount of brain damage he received. The fact that he was able to hold on to this amount of insanity is nothing short of a miracle.
Those are not hallucinations, he imagines cartoons to make feel himself more safe and calmed
@prodyakshi a hallucination is imagination, so what's your point?
@@victorykingpin3674 Not exactly, hallucinations are a symptom of schizophrenia, which caracterizes by images, sounds or senses that are not real and the person is not aware of the fact that those things are not real. They think that those things are real, therefore they accept it as reality even if others try to tell em the truth. In that same way, it's not only hallucinations but a serie of other affective symptoms such as emotional disorders. Noir, just imagine cartoons, knowing they are not real, just like a normal thought to make himself feel safe, he is aware that those are thoughts and it's himself saying that he will be okay. In the show, the cartoons are shown as schizophrenia-like images or representations just to make the audience see what is happening inside his head.
@@prodskydroz how do you know that he doesn't see them as we see them? And I'm fairly sure Black Noir realizes they aren't real. So, why do you feel the need to correct the original commenter about this? Its abit of a petty nitpick

Nice detail having Grey Griffin voicing those birds. Grey has voiced many beloved characters from many fan favorite tv shows, so it makes easier to empathize with Noir who considers Buster beaver and all those characters his friends and it also hints that Black Noir has a childish side to him that makes him more loveable. Unlike homelander and his childish antics
doubt they put any more thought into it than "She is a popular voice actress and we need a voice actress"

Well after reading the comics i would say this is a rare case of the original work sucking and the new version being what they would've been
black noir’s backstory is easily the best change from the comics to the show.
Nice detail that for the confrontation, Black Noir isn’t wearing his helmet like he always wanted. And it costs him his face, dooming him to wear the helmet for the rest of his life.
Shit
I felt absolutely nothing for Noir until these scenes. I know he did any and everything for Vought and it was wrong. But they did such a good job making me feel empathy for him so much that I cried after his ending. After not liking him at all for 2 seasons, suddenly I saw him in such a different light knowing he was brain damaged by Soldier Boy and can’t speak anymore, still traumatized as well. I would have never expected this to be his backstory. The writers are so talented honestly.

Yeah he had a resistance to it, that’s why even when he got hit with it he didn’t go down like anybody else would
Probably wasn’t distracted and they wanted there licks in before finishing the job
Bro look at Soldier Boy....All of them charged on him together and he threw all of them...You really think Mindstorm could do shit to him all alone?
The plan probably was for the twins too set him up for mindstorm. Then have BN and the others hold him down and gas him. Obviously emtions got in the way, and costed BN half his face and mind

I just realized what was really going on, in Mallory's flashback Payback was killing her own men rather than the enemy while Soldier Boy was killing the bad guys, this was cause they didn't want anyone to see what they were doing.
