    Thank you. I’ve been torn as I want a device I can use with Blender, Fusion360, and Shaper3d. Your overview is the one that truly helped me head in the right direction after trying so hard to figure this out. I want to design 3D stl files for 3D printing and also create digital art. Thanks for your help!

    This absolutely helped me make the decision for which one to save up for. I want to illustrate on the go and have no desire for 3D models. Which means I’ll pay more but ultimately the iPad is the best choice. I have a smaller iPad but I want a bigger screen. Once I save up for the bigger one I’ll probably give my smaller one to my grandma for her to do small graphic design stuff in procreate and Canva like she wants to.

    I use an XP-PEN 22e Pro on a cheap $35 arm mount which completes the setup. I can set it up as a second monitor when not in use and let it hover at an angle over my mouse when its in use. VESA is one of the most important features to me, and its only available on pen displays larger than 20in. I love using using for more complex projects with many layers. I can actually keep panels/windows open in my creative software while I work thanks to the screen size. Though you do need a decent computer to get a good experience with it, though that is more a fault of the software rather than the tablet itself.
    I also have a M1 11in iPad Pro. I love it for its portability. Use it all the time for sketching and brain storming. I also like to use it for less intensive projects. If your a graphic designer, then working with typography is rough and slow on the iPad.

    IMO, Apple Pencil 2 is equivalent to the starter version of Wacom. They're great for photo editing but jerking when painting. Apple P2 needs to press unrealistically hard to get my chosen color. XP-Pen with Corel paint experience is surreal. It feels like you dip a brush in oil and run it across the canvas in real life, and the color is like oil on screen. It's the best digital painting experience.

    • @studio_fudelio

    funny. i also have an ipad pro and an xp pen 22. i bought both because i was not sure which one i would use. turns out i use the ipad for drawing and painting and the xp pen 22 for animation and 3D work in blender. the ipad does not have a vesa mount so it was difficult for me to get the ipad in the correct position where i could work for hours without neck or back fatigue. this was fixed by attaching a small board to an articulating monitor arm, then i used rubber bands to hold the ipad to the board. now i can get the ipad in the perfect position. at this point i still prefer procreate for drawing and painting over clip studio but maybe that will change eventually

    • @studio_fudelio
      @studio_fudelio  Před rokem

      You can lower the mount onto the table to avoid any wobble, but I know how you feel. The stand it comes with is really good too, I just like being able to have my hand underneath the tablet for shortcuts, and it doesn't bother me that much.
      I thought no touch features would be a deal breaker for me since I'm so used to my iPad, but there are actually some things that are faster/easier when using shortcuts with your non-drawing hand.

    to keep in mind about usb-c, if you are running a desktop or laptop that has a gpu you cannot use the usb-c port as an additional display unless if its directly on the graphics card. or you get an extender and converter which does affect color accuracy. It works fine with apple systems due to their computers having only their integrated graphics on the cpu, unless if they specify otherwise in their pro lineup.

      Not for the artist, procreate is mindblowing. I shifted from Samsung tab to iPad.

      @@studio_fudelio I use one of two Samsung tablets (S6 lite and S7 FE) with Krita across Android and PC if I see a need to draw somewhere a laptop would be...inconvenient (I could use Clip Studio on them in conjunction with the same app on PC but I'm allergic to CSP being subscription-ware on Android :D ).
      I don't own any iDevices, and I have no trouble shuttling files via Bluetooth between those tablets, an Android phone, and several PC laptops, so that may be a potential avenue for those unwilling to tangle with the Apple ecosystem.
      I grew up with non-screen tablets, and still use one with a Razer keypad (Tartarus 2) for shortcut keys. Before acquiring the two Samsung tablets, I had a Surface Pro 2 to experiment with onscreen drawing, but it died of video-card failure before I acclimated to drawing with it. (at least the SP2 pen works with Samsung S-Pen enabled tablets/phones).

      @@RailRide Yeah, whatever works best for you : )
      I've gotten so used to drawing on the iPad it might be hard for me to switch to a different fully portable tablet.
      I prefer Apple's UI/UX in general for art stuff so that's why I stick with Apple but I know a lot of ppl don't want to be a part of the Apple ecosystem. That's why I think XP pen and some of these other companies are awesome cus they're giving ppl other options at an affordable price.
      Thanks for sharing your setups, though!
