You're spot on advising to try the repair. As long as all is unplugged and powered down, it's worth the effort to try. Dishwasher went off, it was a special $3 control panel fuse that popped internally due to extremely cold well water coming into it that should have been warm. The cold water was caused by Navien tankless hot water unit failing due to a $30 plastic impeller flow meter that failed...
It takes time to research and learn but if I replaced both of these products out of frustration, my cost on them would have been over $3000.
