Thanks for stopping by and demoing Ravaged Star with me (and preordering)! It was fun to show it off, and quite humbling to see the outpouring of support we've received for the game.
Thank you for taking the time to put this together and share; greatly appreciated.
It was a pleasure! 👍
Wow! Those mordheim boards looked incredible indeed ...
Adepticon is my favorite convention; it is pure bliss if table-top miniature gaming is your focus.
I too am looking to get into RelicBlade in 2024. Now I'm looking forward to your batreps!
Good video. Not sure about what "championing their cause," means though. I mean their cause is profit. And to fair, they do make a lot of decisions that are not very consumer friendly. "They" being GW of course.
I agree. I guess I mean there are people really bought in and they will pay whatever GW charges to continue to be in. And that's a decision we all make but it shouldn't dictate how you play and enjoy all of these games.
Love that you want to come back! Next year I hope to meet you as a content consumer to give you and your son a hi-five
Hell yeah RELICBLADE!!! Thanks for stopping by!
Great to meet you, and thanks for being a good sport with the questions. 😉
🤣Really good to talk with you in person. You've got a friend here.
@@MiniatureGameMontage Same here buddy!
I travelled over to Adepticon from the UK a couple of years ago and had a similar overwhelmingly positive experience as yourself - it inspired me for a long time. After a 2 year break I'm going back next year so I hope to bump into you guys. Me and my 9yr old have become addicted to your Necromunda battle reports since we got back into the game, so thank you for everything you do here!
Thank you for sharing! 😊 Hope to have you back this way soon enough.
The Firelock Games booth! Their games are a bunch of fun.
Thank you for the overview! Very nice impressions!
One day, I shall make the pilgrimage myself. Those tables and miniatures looked amazing! The Mordheim elevated platforms looked very grim and gothic! I'd also imagine you son would love it too!
It was insane. I forgot to include the footage but they had about a 12' x 4' Space Hulk board! Absolutely amazing.
@MiniatureGameMontage dude that Space Hulk table sounds amazing!
Thanks!
Thank you! 😊 🍻
Ravaged Star at 9:30
Had no idea my video would get shared 🙂
Nice! Never been to that large a convention but whould love to go (none in my country Sweden over in Europe).
GW models are great. Yes they are expensive and rules are ...fluid and using dictionay ENglish from the last centuary but no one forces me to get GW stuff.
I LOVE some of the models and no one forces me to buy them or use GW products. Really once soemone has nice terrain and a few gaming mats anything goes :)
Great video. It looks like a good time. As far as the GW topic, like u said, it your hobby, enjoy what u like and share that with other like minded Hobbiest.
It's an awesome experience! I was only able to go on Thursday, but it was great to see all the people and amazing games going on and also to get smoked in the Blood and Plunder Land Tournament! I would say hands down the best part of Adepticon is the friends you make from all over the country and the world. There is a contingent of gamers from every place I have lived and gamed and its awesome to catch up and share an old fashioned or three!
Blood and Plunder had a big presence there. I was surprised by that. Looks like they sold quite a few starter boxes though!
@@MiniatureGameMontage The $99 box price is a steal. You can build the ships with 2 different rigging styles. I was hoping to get my hands on a 6th Rate Frigate but alas they only brought one and it sold nearly immediately!
Thank you for sharing! Being far away from NA and EU, it's always nice to be able to take a look at these events through a video like this. I'm glad you enjoyed the whole thing, it sounds like such an amazing time.
Concerning GW, there's not much wargaming around here and there's also no GW. But from what I can see, it looks like it bothers people that GW is not trying to be a company for everyone, as it was trying to be decades ago.
What I can say is that I’m not into the super detailed new models and looking at their new stuff, the kits seem to be very non-interchangeable, especially with other brands. But even that… there’s this thing about the universe they created that’s very special and a lot of people wants to be close to - and as you mentioned, people just chill and use the universe with whatever physical material they enjoy the most.
Sad I was not there to meet you !
Next time, friend! 🙂
I want to go one year just to look at the terrain setups. So amazing.
Relicblade, Yay! I just found your channel.
Welcome aboard! I’m slightly obsessed with Relic Blade right now. 😂
@@MiniatureGameMontage well I love it, but don't get to play often. And I'm in Sean's area.
Thank you for speaking up about all of the ‘dump hype’ that GW content so often bolsters in the community of content creators.
I am always surprised, even from seasoned veterans of the content creator sphere, of how so many individuals allow themselves to be driven by negative impetus to fuel their content.
I am astonished at just how spoiled we are as community. For those who have been involved with this hobby for more than 10-15 years (30 years in at this point!) the number and quality of releases we now get, the amount of support that GW gives to ALL of its game systems- it’s astonishing!! The luxury of having open platforms from which to soapbox all of our whiney whims is unfortunate. We should be championing positivity. And not just because we are a bunch of homers, but this hobby, as a whole, GW systems or not, should be propped up and bolstered. I can’t believe how finnicky and cringey this community can be…Kudos for being a positive avenue for us all! Cheers!
Thanks! 🙂 We are in a gaming Golden Age.
The bad-stuff I hear about GW is from GW players lol. I don’t do GW anymore myself so, I don’t bad-mouth them much anymore. Now, I only play skirmish games. Infinity, Frost/Stargrave, Bushido, MCP, Moonstone. I got to do a demo of Warcrow and liked the rules so I’m looking forward to when it’s fully out. Necromunda is cool and I played it when it first came out. I’m just not a huge fan of most GW rules but I may take a look again. It’s nice to see it’s still somewhat supported. That was my main gripe with GW was that they would come out with something and then they would let it die.
I love Warhammer, Games Worshop is one of my favorite companies. They got me into the hobby and they keep me invested. Relic Blade is a great game, I play it with proxy mini's even though I love his designs but I don't like metal minis. I'm looking forward to Ravaged Star too. The only thing I don't like about them is the repeated sculpts.
That's totally understandable! I'm not a big fan of metal minis myself but I'm making an exception for this one. 😂
An alternate perspective:
The support they showed at the event is the same reason that players dislike what has happened to 40k in 8th, 9th, and now 10th. I only attended Adepticon once at the end of 4th, and it was my first experience with Dual Primary Objectives. Had a good time, but the added rule wasn't 40k. With the growth of the Nova/ITC, the Dual Primary objectives persisted despite not making into the 5th-7th rules. We didn't have an issue with letting them play their way and simply didn't attend those events. Toward the end of 7th, it became difficult to find any 40k events that didn't have alternate rules. 8th was a big disappointment because after 3 editions of events that ignored the rules, our hope was dashed as GW adopted those rules. 9th and 10th hasn't done a single thing to improve the game. We don't have an issue with those who still support it, it's just not relevant.
'Competitive 40k' has become a separate set of rules that is the least competitive because it restricts what can participate. We're left with a choice to run with what we want, or run with what will win. The players who didn't like that how they played wasn't working seems to be the driving force behind events. This is fine for those who support that. The difference now is that they have everyone playing their way, we can't even voice our opinion to get the game back to where we can play our way. All we can do is hope that someone will step up and become the new Nova/ITC and give us events that ignore all the crap that got us here in the first place, just like they did.
Right on! I'm finding myself further and further separating from 40k. I love the setting and the story of why two armies are fighting, but it's just not a game that makes me happy right now. I want to like it I just struggle to do so.
Personally, I believe that's where the head-butting occurs. Competitive players don't seem to understand WHY people would be unhappy playing the game in it's current state and see no need to improve it.
A few of us are lucky to still have GW games that we enjoy. Getting back into Necromunda (which is how I found you) has given me the most fun I've had in years. We simply wish we could capture that in 40k.
@@sarkazym5676 Totally agree!
To the main topic of the video...
Aaaargh! How jelous I am 😢
I torture myself seying videos of these kind of events that I cannot attend to. First Spiel24 and now Adepticon.
Bit it is amazing. I hope to have the time some day.
To the other "main" topic:
Noone put a gun on the head of or forces anybody to buy GW products.
Complaining about stuff is free.
People like to complain. 😂
Honestly, I may not agree with several decisions. Even I complain about them (like leaving Vampire Counts oit of Old world 😢). But as you said, and really "good said", everybody has to find their way to his hobby.
If don't like it, don't contribute. But let the ones that like it enjoy and stop toxicity. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks, GuCa! I love Vampire Counts as well. They would totally be my faction in The Old World! 👍
I kind of feel the opposite about GW. I think the models are fine and the prices are the prices. I think the 40k rules are ridiculously over written and exhausting. GW are leaving money on the table by not offering their own noob & casual ruleset for 40k. I play OPR, Xenos Rampant, etc.
You are correct that GW don't care. As long as people keep buying their models, they don't care if people actually play, let alone enjoy their rules.
Right! I like playing 40k because of the setting. Personally, I just don't find the game very good. But I love other GW games and I like OPR. There's so many great games out there!
When it comes to games workshop, I have only 2 complaints.
As you are a necromunda player, I'm sure you've noticed how poorly the wording is for the rules. This is very indicative of rules writing in general for GW, but also some other companies.
Forge world is such a rip-off and they really like to funnel a bunch of specialist games releases into forge world.
Outside of that, yeah, people give them too hard of a time.
