It was especially great for me to see Alan make it as a footballer, play for Newcastle and have such a career as I was his babysitter when he was literally a baby and his family lived on Battlehill Estate in Wallsend.

This should be another great interview, I always thought why he didn’t play more game for England, I am not a Bolton fan but he was great to watch as neutral, I hope you asked him about what he really though playing in the old firm game in Scotland.

I remember working at Slaley Hall in Northumberland and the Leeds team was staying there as they were playing Carlisle Utd in the playoffs (2008 I think). I was painting the skirting boards in a lounge area and jumped up from behind a settee just as Alan Thompson was walking by and he proper shit himself haha.....as a Newcastle fan (I watched him play for Newcastle too) I thought it was hilarious. He was very friendly too....top lad and a top player.

As a young lad Alan stamped on Jimmy Case. He got sent off. Newcastle lost on penalties.
