    Great video, I had two 72 Nordic we I was was a kid. My dad got them when I was 12 years old. We had them for 8 years. I was the guy who kept them working , was great fun, and a lesson in perseverance. Really like all your videos. My toy today is a 72 fiat but hope to go on a vintage snowmobile run some day. Keep up the great work 👍

      One of the first sleds I ever rode was a 1972 Nordic 440! I was probably about 12 years old and my uncle just bought it to get into vintage sledding. From that point on, my uncle and I have amassed a collection of well over 50 sleds and are having a lot of fun in the hobby. That was 28 years ago, and to say, it was all started with a 72 Nordic! Take care and thanks for watching!

    do you guys remember the ski doo silver bullet 440i had one of them late 70s havent seen one since and yes it was painted shiny silver medium silver with red decals it had twin carbs looking back it was ahead of its time but i had issues with them carbs they never synced right but it was fast for its day

    • @mattsws
      @mattsws  Před rokem +1

      Yeah the 1973 Tnts were all silver for that year only. It was the last year with the engines mounted up on the tunnel. Twin Tillotsons are a challenge to get running well!!! Take care!!

  • @robertanthony9674
    @robertanthony9674 Před 9 měsíci +1

    Drop your jet needles one notch and it will quit fowling plugs. If that does not work then I would say to clean your carbs and pay special attention to your inlet needle valves look to make sure there is not a ring worn into the needles. If there is a ring the needles need to be replaced.
    As for the Nordic, turn the low end screw in one eighth of a turn and it should quit stalling.

    • @mattsws
      @mattsws  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah, that is the advice I am getting so far, to lower the needle jet. I will definitely be trying that this winter. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated!!!

  • @terrynewgard8768
    @terrynewgard8768 Před rokem +2

    Your pilot jet is for up to 1/4 throttle. Your needle is for 1/2 throttle. Your main jet is full throttle. Try leaning out your pilot jet or drop your needle 1 step.

    • @mattsws
      @mattsws  Před rokem

      I really appreciate the info. I will definitely try dropping the needle 1 step. Thanks!!!

    Dans ce genre d'évènement où ça roule pas vite et souvent à l'arrêt j'utiliserais des bougies E3 et une huile de très haute qualité qui permet de mixer plus pauvre en huile et cela devrait prévenir la carbonisation des bougies.

  • @kennethgoin628
    @kennethgoin628 Před rokem +2

    I see some Polaris and Arctic Cat showed up this year! That TXC Polaris is quite uncommon, not as unique as the brown Nordic, but uncommon. Not sure about your plugs... we've always needed spares on a run and some days there was more fouling than others. You could try a hotter plug and see if you get a better burn out of it, otherwise, I think it's carb work.

    • @mattsws
      @mattsws  Před rokem

      Yeah, I’ve tried hotter plugs without any luck. I got another comment that suggested I lean out the mix a little by moving the clip on the main jet needle. Gonna try that…

    • @kennethgoin628
      @kennethgoin628 Před rokem +1

      @@mattsws If you lower the jet a notch, watch your plugs close. If you get her too lean, that's when guys burn holes in the piston. I wouldn't rule out full carburetor rebuilds just to ensure that all the internals are as fresh and clean as possible. If there's any issue in there, which sometimes those issues are not visible to the naked eye, we don't want to compensate by straying from factory specs too much for too long. For long term engine health, those factory specs really need to be respected.
      Good luck getting her fixed! Oh... little side story... I met a guy in WI whose son's is name is Everest, and the youngster is now riding one and getting into Everest restorations! I'll have to direct him to your video!
