Get the chain deal solid.get you smaller rear sprocket. Little cv fine tuning if applicable .might end up the best set up ever for tooling the town. Sure seemed super smooth and definitely a motor saver..baddest looking pull starter ever kinda seen. Must have missed video of that set up. With cv you can fix the engine clutch 100 % locked up ? Yes. No. Great job
Yes the engine clutch area is 100% locked up it's where I mounted the pull starter as well 😂 custom clutch output shaft. yeah I was thinking 30t sprocket it has tons low end power. I had to make many custom parts foundry wise to pull this off. I used 2 old end mill shanks poured cast iron weights. It's the secret sauce to making CVT work correctly of the engines already internal gear reduction. Then poured an aluminum plate to match up my pull starter. (Tons of short videos as I built it) never bothered to even make videos. To much hate over every build. Gets way to toxic with idiot elites as I call the group 😂. It's why I always said I loved your channel's best info on stuff around. Don't take no shit from the idiots Brian.

@@BuildBreakFix ahhh yep its definitely the baddest pull start I have seen. The cv set up sure seemed silky smooth. Love to see some vids on casting parts . I find all that stuff super Interesting. Great job. Thanks for the short.
@@BuildBreakFixI don't no crap about alot of stuff. But the mph stuff and assholes is exactly why I stopped messing with bicycles. The cv set up for me sounded ideal. Sure seems like a engine saver. Once you were at speed and able to let off the throttle and still maintain same mph with about 1/2 the rpm. That's when I thought super cool set up. People are clueless about function. Or unrealistic. If you can gear it so it runs ehh 40 to 50 and still pull like it does.that definitely is a cool set up. Great job.

It works! Took a bit of reengineering. Still room for lots of improvements
It wouldn't be impossible to machine a mini comet style cvt but it would take a lot of time on a mini lathe. CNC would be faster but super expensive unless you are a CNC machinist with after hours access. On the bright side: it is relatively easy to machine a cone and a splined shaft, just time consuming.
20 years ago you could get a x2 cvt for cheap from a bunch of places. Now these are hens teeth.

I love this build I feel it's far superior to the regular China doll. Having any kind of gear ratio That can change while you're ridding makes all the difference

@BuildBreakFix If it was an add on kit I'd buy a two stroke for just that reason I love my 4 strokes, but that would be a pretty tempting 2 stroke.

Cvt transmissions work the best when they engage at power band rpm.

The driver pully needs more centrifugal weight, it should slightly grip the belt at idle. The gear ratio on these engines are 4:1 from the driver shaft.
My drive pulley weights are poured cast iron with two end mill shanks as guide pins 😜👍
@@BuildBreakFix Lol it works👍 I'm glad you proved that its possible. It would be cool if you could figure out the rpm of that driver pully. I know those 2 stokes red line around 10,000 right? I'm guessing the pully spins at 2,500 rpm tops.
@@Few.Be.There.That.Find.It. I have actually lol. Starts to open at 750rpms, fully opens at 1800. Driven pulley is fully open when engine is around 7500rpms. So anything after say 8k is 1.8 to 2.4 gear ratio advantage. Will it overcome friction? Maybe? Dono.... But going to find out lol. Yes that drive pulley is custom made 😅 you are only one to ask about it still after weeks of building this. Everyone thinks I was going to just use stock parts 🤫. I have a coal forge. Casted my pin parts in oil sand two weeks ago. Actually had to remove weight 😅 had ratios backwards had to edit it lol

It'd be cool if there was a smaller one that could be designed and easily adapted to these type engines.
I'm not one to be always thinking about money or anything, but I bet that you could sell lots of them.
CNC router all the parts, would probably be no easy feat.
The design of a cvt is simple, getting one made in the usa for less than 600 dollars a unit isn't.
Ideally the cvt would be on the right side of the engine, and replace the internal gear reduction. A 2:1 range that's from 8:1 reduction to a 4:1 reduction would work well for most builds.
However since cost is the concern, replacing the internal reduction with a stock comet clone and putting a pull starter on the magneto side is better. If I remember right the pawls are what fail followed by the cord on those. You would need a big sprocket on a jackshaft after the cvt.
You should go on a trip and make some of the motorized bicycle events/races wherever they happen

Pretty cool I always wanted to make a small mini bike or a go kart with a tiny 2 stroke engine, a china doll with a pill start and torque converter would make my idea posible Any tutorial on how to do those mods ??

Good on my old build on that bike. Bad with current one. Problem is they sit crooked but are super stable and stiff
Can you add a pull to start of that style on a normal china doll instead of the ones that attach to the magneto

Vertical has an intake on top end. Horizontal is case reed
