All the experts have difficulty coping with Russia winning. Russia is not currently doing big arrow offensives, it does well enough
With small scale offensives at different locations forcing Ukraine backwards everywhere. Shoigu has been promoted. He is still in charge of defence production and will directly advise Putin. The replacement is an economic expert who will get the industry streamlined. This is just sensible appointments, not people being removed. As I look at Ukraine it is starting to collapse. Crimea is on the back burner right now, and I get the sense that so long as Gerasimov is in theatre command, which he is still is, Crimea will remain a non-immediate priority though it's still strategic to both sides.
The guest is correct that Russia pushes. Its strategy over the past Year & a half is to push the line forward across the entire front & exploit the breakouts like it has at Ocherotyne, & the guest is also correct here that Russia's abilities to exploit those breakouts also seems to be limited.
They are expanding their TOE literally as we're watching this video, but the replacements are found wanting. Be warned, however, that they are stockpiling heavy mechanized armor somewhere in Russia, & it's supposed to be at least 200-300 tanks, most of them refurbs, yes, but still a dangerous supplement if you're training tank crews for them.
Still, the Russians' chances are at or near zero for anything that looks like a definitive victory, & their TOE are running up against hard limits. They increased their gasoline imports from Belarus this Year over 2023, & 2023 totalled a greater import total over 2022. That's the refinery attacks at work.
Armies all rely on the five essentials: bullets, food, fuel, medicine & water. Cut your enemy's access to any of those 5 essentials & they will be defeated after some time.
Chinese coke production spiked in very late 2023, & that's probably because of Russian demand. Russia's overall capacity to manufacture petroleum coke fell with their refining capacity, again likely a result of the refinery attacks, & they absolutely need coke to make steel. No coke means no steel. No steel means no weapons.
The Russian economy is shrinking overall. They need consumer spending for tax revenues to feed the War machine, but their consumer spending isn't increasing to meet the increase in the Russian cash outlay to import all their war materials the list for which is growing, not shrinking.
Putin invaded Years too early. I don't know why he picked 2022 but it turned out to be the wrong time. They needed Years to prepare for this War, to harden their defenses around the refineries for instance, to train a civilian air patrol to spot & report drones, time to build their domestic cash reserves as it turns out that their foreign reserves would get frozen.
      They should've waited.

These individuals believe the Russians will make foolish decisions despite the lessons they've learned from this war. They lack critical thinking skills. They don't understand that the 50,000 soldiers are intended to create a buffer (not occupy the entirety of Kharkiv oblast) and divert forces from the Donbas, which would cause the eastern defensive lines to fall more quickly.

How long did it take them to advance through Avdiivka. How many km's beyond that are they now after 6 months? and that burnt through about 50,000 Russians. They are trying only to pin and thin Ukrainian forces and capitalize on the advantage they have in resources before the US and NATO aid hits the frontlines in strength. That is all.

@@artyarts-sake4420 First of all, Avdiivka was fully captured on February 17, 2024, which was about three months ago. Advances from Avdiivka have reached around 15 km, due to Ukraine's continuous construction of defensive lines since 2014. Beyond these lines, defenses are sparse and mainly around key towns. Secondly, the main goal of the Kharkiv operation is to deplete Ukrainian manpower and resources, easing future battles in the east. However, you haven't mentioned the manpower shortage Ukraine is currently experiencing. Even with billions in aid, without sufficient manpower, these resources are rendered ineffective.

Why Russians attacked now and why Charkov ?
Putin finally understood that the West will not let him defeat Ukraine - and he found out that Shoigu told him a lot of "stories". So he developed a new plan:
He still wants whole Donbass - and now he tries a typical KGB method: he is trying blackmailing. His plan: take a part of Charkov region, and after that go in peace negotiations with the proposal to change this territory against the rest of Donbass etc.

Robert is a wise man on this topic. The worrisome point is not knowing where some countries like Turkey and India stand or what side they'll take during an all-out war. I would assume the wrong side because they sure don't take a strong stance on Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine. Sounds like Europe is several years behind so it's time to put the weapons & armed forces in overdrive.
