Ryujinx performance is unusable, 60 fps on Smash bros to stuttering mess on Ryujinx. Have to wait for suzu or something, Ryujinx is just not an option for switch emulation
These game sizes are absurd. 4K textures should be optional.
I still won't buy a TV or monitor with a resolution higher than 1080P because it's really enough.

@@psiryanIt depends on the size. I think 1080p isn't enough for 27" monitor, but 1440p is plenty. No need for 4k. And with a TV, you're far enough away I think I'd stick with 1080p too

That would be great. Imagine downloading a game from steam and it asks what size of the textures you want. Or it just works it out for you.
A minor nitpick: Nintendo claimed that there were day one fixes "before release on the US". Anyone that has a switch and know how to change country would know that most of the Yuzu team probably lived in Australia. That's misleading from the Nintendo suit, and misleading from the OG short.

Didn't they have Tiers of the Kingdom fixes in the Patreon version of the emulator like a week before the official release?
Edit: Yeah I found articles about rom leaking 2 weeks before the official release. I don't know what their patreon looked like in that window, but I do remember hearing they had patches that improved performance before the actual release.
@@GreenFox1505that game had a major leak, and no… a different dev made a fork that added support.
They added it the day it released, probably using the same code though
One thing to point out is that a number of the new titles are JRPGs, and usually Japan and Asia markets in gereral favour portability for their games. It would not do those games any favour for not being playable on the Steam Deck. For me, playing P3R just like I did with P3P on the PSP gives extra nostalgic vibes being able to play while moving around.
It seems emudeck still lets you use the appimage version of the emulators, so it's not totally gone
I have like 600 games in my backlog. My Deck has life in it until it breaks.
Frame generation is possible because you can do it in windows with an application called Lossless Scaling.
Balatro is definitely you NEED to play. It's deceptively simple yet addicting.
In the card game MTG, we call it cardboard crack, Balatro is digital crack.
I was holding off getting the last updates for Citra and Yuzu. But I can confirm they're ok and my games are still playable on my steam deck.
Been playing Pseudoregalia from that bundle and it is very interesting. The graphics give off an early PS1 3D game and it does not hold your hand so it's up to the player to figure out skills and find your way. Will say that there are rooms designed so that you can figure out abilities before throwing you into the deep end.
Please, don't upgrade EmuDec yet. This version is full of issues. I've lost almost all my Steam Rom Manager parsers.

Does Sony put cross save in their games? If not that's a huge missed opportunity. People playing on there PS5 move their save to their deck for a trip and move the save back when they get home is a huge selling point imo

5:05 One thing I find interesting about lists like this is that there's usually no games on it that I play however in the past I have played Diablo 1 (on PC GOG) if that counts at all? That's the closest thing.

Yea, that logic just doesn't work. Horses were worse even with the small needs we had back then and in many cases people treated horses like crap.
There may be issues with pollution from modern transportation, but it's been a lot more positive than negative.
Honestly, I'm with you on all counts with regards to the Yuzu debacle. Nintendo are bullies, it's true, but if these allegations are true, Yuzu kinda stuck their foot in it, and may have done more damage than we realize yet.

I am unsure you are being sarcastic or serious but a lot of people don't like cars.
Quite honestly in case of Yuzu I can understand Nintendo, the Switch is still a very active platform and I believe them when they say they are losing money because of it.
I would argue that they lose even more money by insisting on making their games only available on their own hardware, but that's their choice.
I would love to play the new Zelda games, but I'm not going to buy a Switch just for that. So my options without Yuzu would've been to buy the game and rent or borrow a Switch to play the game, but with Yuzu I could've just downloaded it.
My gaming pile of shame is big enough that I didn't feel the need to do either, but I have a Steam Deck so the Yuzu option would have been tempting, and then they would've lost money.
Personally I just wished Nintendo made PC releases.
Gardiner, thank you for all the work you do on this channel. Thanks to you and your efforts I recently installed Lutris and was able to get the only game I play working on it and now have absolutely no use for Windows at all. As someone that sent 95% of their time in Linux, making 100% is delightful.
Yeah, Linux gaming is better than windows gaming now. Never thought I'd see it but SteamOS made it possible. Not just me that thinks it either as theres tons on youtube about it now.
Those forced windows updates that you can never stop no matter what registry tricks, file renaming and other hacks you use finally wrecked my windows and made it unusable. So I found a new trick..... Wiped windows completely and installed HoloISO on my gaming PC, which is essentially 99% an official SteamOS generic install for most PCs. Had a couple small issues but nothing compared to the issues I've had on windows and were sorted with a little help on their telegram channel.
After that pretty much perfect, even relived a little nostalgia as I finally got to go back and play the original GTA which I could never get to work properly on windows 10 but worked fine on SteamOS with a little community patch.
Apparently you can even play experimental stuff like Starcitizen with a little searching for the community fixes to get EasyAnticheat working

If you like driving games, might I recommend Pacific Drive? I've been using my steam deck for it, and while it doesn't have the best framerate, I've still managed 30 hours in it and I'm having an amazing time!

It is looking like we should move to decompilation and porting i.e. sm64ex instead.
I remember feeling like it was a bit of a red flag for Yuzu to post updates specifically for Tears of the Kingdom compatibility before it came out. Doubly so for those updates to hide behind their patreon which makes it profit motive. I can't imagine why they thought that was a good idea. It's honestly surprising that Nintendo took this long to shut them down.
Luckily any forks of Yuzu should not be forced to carry this legal minefield of baggage.

Deck needs only letters to be readable at 800p. Developers need to make this possible, because I don't think there's an AI flatpak to read unreadable text.
Suyu needs to be a legit successor to yuzu. No better way to prove that yuzu was an educational open source project which supported preservation day one.
A bit of a warning with ORCT2: if you use it's repo for automatic updates, prepare for update notifications every day. Legit: the game gets updated virtually EVERY DAY.

I don't think Nintendo will sue valve or ROG over the use of yuzu on their devices. They are just computers and to sue them means they'd have to sue all PC users which would be pretty funny to see them try
I am so excited about the Horizon Forbidden West release... The original game is my favorite game ever! It has beaten my SNES games on my top list, that had never been beaten for me until I played Horizon Zero Dawn on my Deck!

I have never used Yuzu and did not have any plans to, but the situation still bothers me, the Switch 2 better be phenomenal to warrant such drastic action. I am really a fan of Nintendo, or have had a pretty lenient loyalty through life. The recent price spikes in official releases has made me more opposed, they do make quality games, but very rarely does such a high price warrant any game, on top of the Yuzu spectacle. I don't know, not completely down on Nintendo, just disappointed, I know I can't afford many more games that price, and never really wanted to emulate anything from that market either, just not sure the Yuzu developers deserved such drastic measures, at least they seem to be able to float with the legal bills, etc.
I was done with Nintendo years ago because of their aggressive business practices and their high handed attitude to their own customers. The same goes for Sony.

Im 80% through played it via Chiaki. Which works almost like native. Their latency is insanely low even on WiFi. Some games with VSYNC on are worse I swear ;-)

Ill admit that I was one of the people to obtain TOTK early, I played it on ryujinx, and ryujinx was updating the emulator to fix TOTK bugs, before the game was even out mind you
They wouldnt directly say this, but their patch notes would say "fixed XYZ causing issues with XYZ in some games" but it just so happens that those issues were happening in TOTK
Emulation is deeply rooted in piracy, even the devs of the emulators partake in it
But as Gabe has said, Piracy is a service problem, we pirate Nintendos games and emulate them because Nintendo doesnt give us accsess to the service we are more then willing to pay for

Nintendo's battle is ALREADY against the precedent that US "consumer rights" threaten to put Nintndo IP into eminent domain, basically declare it public utility (and give all the advances to Microsoft and graphic cards to have a monopoly).
Nintendo would hire all the emulation engineers they can find, EXCEPT it's ahu8ge threat that somebody on Nintendo payroll USES piracy skills and "pirate community" declares that illegal and "big corporation" doing it. If they HIRE these pirates. You make HIRING engineers a liability, THAT is the precedent here.
As long as pirates are froced to live in austerity adn can't earn an income, Nintendo has no threats because nobody else can hire them either.

@gardiner_bryant How are you so wrong and misleading about the Steam Deck "easily meet or exceed all of those requirements" for Horizon FW? For a minimum spec of 16GB memory and a GTX 1650 or RX 5500XT... Are you high? The Deck is well below this requirement. This comes off really desperate and click-baity.

I dont really like it but part of emulation is to play games after thr gsme can no longer be bought so trying to emulate modern game should be a no no. I mean example ps 3 and 360 should be what are the focus. Because like 90% of the PS3 and 360 library's are all but dead. And with Sony wantinf to shut the store down you could justify emulation. 3DS and Wii U as well because Nintendo shut those stores down two.

Yeah, yuzu kind of messed up, but Ultimately, Nintendo was right in that there was never any legal way to actually use the emulator because backing up anything digital requires breaking its DRM. It's just that nobody bothered to enforce that before. I find it funny how despite the fact that that still remains unequivocally true, it was still kind of the least of the reasons why Nintendo went after them. I'm also curious what they want that telemetry data for.
Maybe the telemetry data will be used to secure the software of their new console. There are some rumors that the delay in the release is partly due to more focus on preventing it to be unlocked
