  • Get rid of annoying clunks by adjusting your wheel bearing.
On certain Mercedes vehicles, you can adjust the wheel bearing "end-float".
In 99% of cases you'll just need to tighten the nut and the play will disappear.
This car in particular has had this issue noted for the last 4 MOTs. It was finally time to adjust it.
I work in the Crawley and surrounding area.

    Ohh my god 😂
First of there should be some slag between 01-02 mm newer tight it like this only use your finger. Make it finger tight and then losing it “10 minutes” ore a sixth of a turn and that’s it

10 minutes of arc is equal to 1/2160 of a turn or 0.167 degrees. . . not a sixth of a turn. A sixth of a turn is equal to 60 degrees.

My W204 had the same issue on the left front wheel bearing. It was picked up as an advisory on the last 2 MoTs (prior to my ownership) and it was also picked up when the local dealer inspected the car when it went in for a new rear subframe (this was replaced under warranty but that's another story). I just nipped it up exactly as you did it and it is fine now.

@@Parknest Then fortunately you didn’t over tighten the bearings 🙏, but next time you need to adjust them, make sure to not tighten them like in this guys video, because that’s not the correct procedure.
They should have around 0,1mm clearance. 💪

This is fine as long as you check back in 100 miles and it doesn’t have more play … don’t listen to these guys they have zero idea of what to do .. been doing this for over 30 years 😃

This must be a "How NOT" to fix a bearing problem. I had to replay this twice, could not believe this. Never do this. The bearings must be replaced. They are worn out, there is no adjustment. All this is going to do is speed up complete bearing failure or worse get someone hurt.

Shouldn't there be some grease in the end cap?

I guess, this is a perfect example for how to do it NOT. Please, dont ruin your car by doing it like this.

Dude, you ever heard of a wrench???
2nd of all, there should be slight play when adjusting wheel bearing.
This dude just butchered his bearings, but for people who want to do it right, there should be around 0,1mm play in the bearing.
You can find the correct procedure on adjustable Mercedes wheel bearings in my YT playlist -> Mercedes-Benz Specific

Well, not really the proper way to adjust the preload on the bearing. You shouldn’t be using a hammer to adjust the tension on the wheel nut.

when all you have is a hammer... everything looks like a nail !! 😂

DO NOT in any way follow this fools method, this is 100% wrong, you should use a dial gauge to adjust a Merc wheel bearing, never hammer or over tighten a bearing like this.
