    Couldn’t agree more with Tom when he was talking about Gane, guy thought he could get to the title without having to risk it against Tom and now that a belt is on the line he’s comfortable taking the risk. Same as a prime cain Velasquez. Jones didn’t even fancy a move into that weight class until he beat Cormier the second time around(while being on steroids)and for the first time called out the mighty Brock lesnar. The fight didn’t materisalised because he got popped and got suspended. There is nobody except the most dedicated Jones fanboys (because they’re scared of what Tom would do to Jon) that wants to see Stipe Vs Jones.
    I didn’t wanna see it before this fight, nvm now. UFC have the chance to create a megastar here and they are holding up his career for guys who are retiring and will only make them money for one more fight.
    It doesn’t make sense for anyone.

      What mega star did the ufc created? All the big name celebrities who were invited by Dana came to the show because they were promised a massive star fight in Jones who just did one million ppv buys in his last fight and a 12 million dollar gate. Jones vs Gane ticket sold out during fight week and Jones vs Stipe was trending to be sold out come fight week as well as MSG was not a big enough venue compare to Las Vegas. Jones and Connor have the highest ticket price in the industry. The cheapest sit in the Jones vs Stipe fight is 1200 dollars while the highest ticket is 100k dollars. The cheapest ticket price had to be slash because Jones was not fighting. If Tom was such a huge star, why the price slash?

    • @BBeowulf
      @BBeowulf Před 6 měsíci +2

      @@paulgal it doesn’t though. If Tom beats Stipe and Jones he’s a superstar anyway and will pull in massive money for years. Stipe and Jones will only pull in money for that one fight and I don’t think it will be as big as the UFC thinks it is, nobody cares about it and the fans see through it. They wanna build it as the heavyweight GOAT Vs the GOAT but they’ve both barely fought in years and Stipe is coming off a knockout loss from 3 years ago…
      They’re only doing it because he wants to say Jones is the GOAT and that he would’ve beaten Ngannou but they could do that with Tom too and if they make Stipe Vs Tom first and then Stipe wins, not only do they get an extra fight from Stipe, they’ve made the Stipe Vs Jones fight big and interesting again.
      Jones Vs Stipe only makes sense for Jon Jones and Stipe. Nobody else.

    One of the most talented fighters, brings a complete skill set that for the most part is lacking in the heavyweight, there may be some guys who hit slightly harder, there may be some who grapple slightly better, but there is nobody who brings those qualities together like Aspinall, at HW. I was leaning toward Sergei, had seemed very 'scary' to quote what you guys were saying. Clearly Tom more than rose to the occasion. Very happy, was a great card, and this was, for me, the highlight. Then procceed to deny Gane a shot out of revenge while saying Gane should fight Almedia, knowing fully well that Gane will loose that fight. Decided to call out a fighter who is coming off a loss, Tai tuivasa who is a very easy match up for him. Saying the greatest fighter of all time Jon Jones should be stripped of his belt because he got injured. If that is your idea of a gentleman, you better check your standards. Nothing, it makes them a lot of money for a one off fight at the cost of killing the division and reducing revenue in the long run. Having Tom fight Stipe and then Jones builds his star power and can turn him into the sort of money maker that GSP was in his prime.
      I'll remind you that Jon doesn't call the shots either, Dana does, and Dana will always do what's makes the most money.

    • @TheBurstlimet

      @@BrainFuck10 I understand where you’re coming from but don’t you think that Tom deserves the opportunity to fight Jon? Regardless of if you think Sergi was a hype job or not the UFC put an interim title on the line and Tom did the business, therefore his next fight should be against the man currently holding the full title. They did pretty much the same thing when Robert Whittaker was the interim champion and they pursed the GSP vs Bisping fight regardless of Rob having a belt or not but when they found out that GSP wasn’t returning they immediately promoted Rob to undisputed. I don’t think they should just promote Tom but I believe that if Jon is going to be out for an extend period of time they should strip him and allow Tom to fight whoever they want for the undisputed title, we’ve seen them do the same thing with the two previous light heavyweight champs in the last twelve months alone and I think it’s a bit dumb that Jon doesn’t have to play by the same rules for whatever reason.
