@Phillipenis Barbalooch What do you mean zero evidence? There are plenty on scientific papers regarding the effectiveness of the 12 step program. Do you actually think no one has ever searched its effects? Or that it would still be popular if it turned out that it is useless compared to other programs?

When I quit smoking crank, and railing speed all the time talking like Hunter S Thompson,
I started smoking pot hard core again, Then slowly quit smoking cigarettes, and started masturbating a lot less (Because without Meth or Crank porn can't last 8 hours, not even SEX, It's so shitty)
Then I just started drinking brews every now and then, as a stress reliever or a treat on the weekends, and holidays. Fuck I've never had to drink coffee before, until the Rush from drugs ended. Now I drink 4 or 5 cups a god damn day.
Basically, you do trade addictions for another. An Addictive Personality is just that, an addictive personality.

Ever since I got off the IV heroin/fentanyl, I replaced my addiction with coffee, cigarettes, pc building, and going to NA meetings (zoom meetings now) as my new addictions.

Almost everyone in NA/AA has issues with their parents growing up or felt like an outcast. We'd always say stuff like "fake it til you make it" "one day at a time" and would say the serenity prayer so many damn times...

South Park is garbage now, they're going for this "millennial humor" crap much like Family Guy and The Simpsons, it's dumb, uncreative and no longer touches on important issues, only what 13 year olds of nowadays think is important(AKA is it okay to watch Pewdiepie _(not even joking, this is an episode)_ ). Again, much like Family Guy and The Simpsons, they also turned to celebrity apearances, shit like Micky Minaj, not just to make fun of but to use like an actual character, yet another pathetic attempt to appeal to millennials.
This show is dead, and the creators should really be ashamed for having betrayed their own vision so totally and completely, if they still even work on the show in any way whatsoever, on which I have my doubts.
It's been this way for years now, and quite honestly, the change is so drastic and apparent you have to be a complete and utter idiot to still watch South Park, and you _should_ be ashamed.
Despite this, I still recommend the older episodes, as South Park was an absolutely excellent cartoon.

I use to like southpark; now I don't. Maybe my taste grew and maybe you are indeed right and the quality of show went for worse. But to say its bad when people still watch is delirious. Also when you look back at it, it wasn't that great (aside from some parts) to begin with.

I've been sober for 5 years and most days a take about 12 Dehidracodine 30mg pills, they take the edge off and I don't even thinking about drinking, even the thought of it makes me sick. You can function perfectly fine with a mild opiate habit, it wont effect your life negatively at all really, you can just go through your day like normal. I cycle long distance now and my home and work life are great. Alcohol is a hell of a drug, its probably the worst addiction you can have.

@fredlburrows Yep. It's generally near the end after you go through the horrible stench, the terrible nightmares, the gut-shredding constipation, and the murderous rage. That's why it's not recommended to go cold turkey with alcohol; people can die from withdrawl.

Got problems with substance, changed it for another, then another, it's a maddening cycle.
Sometimes it felt like I'd be able to do it, others I was biting my wrists. Sometimes you need help, others, the love and care of those closest to you is suffocating, it's what keeps you down.
Felt worthless for most of my life, but I could pretend to be normal. I'm clean now, hasn't fixed me, but I'm trying, and sometimes that's the only thing you can do.
I wish I were smarter, then I'd be able to see the light on the other side.
