Another day, another jungle, another GL build. Not the most complete build here with a big weakness to gunships, but with @originalSPECTER channeling his inner SAM site, we ended up doing the deathless duo. Nice!

Build:
As always, I'm pairing the GL with the Supply Backpack - light armour + stun nades means I can get round to hit Hulks backsides more easily, though you can hit their back with the AOE through their legs for a slower kill.
Whereas the GL is a top tier pick for bugs, I feel it's a little less powerful when it comes to bots, especially when compared with the Autocannon. While the larger AoE comes in handy for nuking enemies in dropships as they come down, its lower AP means it just falls below the threshold for targets like AA Guns and Mortar Emplacements, Hulk eyes, and Factory Strider turrets.
Bringing strats like the Orbital Precision Strike and 500kg covers you somewhat, but that still leaves a gaping weakness vs Gunships - while the GL can take out Gunships, the slow projectile speed and arc make it very tricky. Bringing a medium pen weapon like the Diligence CS, Dominator or Scorcher would be a better choice than the Breaker I went with this time, though the Breaker does very well vs Berserkers.

I feel like the choice of good support weapons is a little thinner, but I love the general bot gameplay of pulling off commando shit :)
@@newspiked7385 true. I’ve only recently started using the spear and love the versatility and guaranteed huge damage. Plus with those damn drop ship patrols it’s the most consistent counter I can think of.
@@thatzachguy76Rocket sentry is also good at eliminating drop ships.

Good thing Specter was there to help take care of those gunship patrols for you. They're a pain in the bum with, especially without without a proper answer.
The nice thing about the Grenade launcher damage buff is that (as well as 2-shotting the Brood commander's body) it can 2-shot devastators anywhere now. Maybe next time I try running it in a diff 5 or harder bot operation, I'll copy this GL strategem loadout but with one of the medium pen primary weapons, so I at least have something to use against the gunships.
Definitely. Tried it with Diligence CS but that takes too many shots, I think Scorcher's your best bet.

I’d like to be good with the grenade launcher but every time I want it to bounce it explodes in impact and vice versa, guess I stick to the HMG for now
Yeah the bounce is annoying, once you get used to the arming range it's manageable tho

Were there just no hulks during that whole mission?
Now that you mention it...aside from the guaranteed ones in bases, I saw hardly any.
@@newspiked7385Light on factory striders, too. Although, we were at extract near the 50% time mark and we really didn’t have many bot drop calls. We did get a lot of tanks, though. Which worked out because the tanks don’t do well in that terrain.
