Gundogan in champions form at the right time. He made the difference last season in the final game against Villa and stepped in for De Bruyne with goals and assists in that lockdown season.
Ban on! I was nervous without KDB for a tricky stadium, but gundogan put in a masterclass today. So underrated

There’s a reason he’s been the first name on the team sheet for Germany for many years.
If he leaves for Barcelona he’ll be very hard to replace
The 20/21 season not the lockdown season, he wasn’t a starter and we lost the league in October.
Neville was insistent about Arsenal not being able to get the title over the line about 20 games ago

Odegard's been great. Arsenal lost because they didn't have the depth in defence and didn't have Haaland.

@@michaelwallden7261 why would anybody want to go to a club playing in Europa league 😂
A man who won the PL 8 times, more than all the teams since '92, will definitely know a thing or two about title races. But they went for his head when he said Arsenal wont make it.
It has nothing to do with him winning 8 PL titles though. Ex professional players make predictions all the time, and a good chunk of those predictions are wrong. Including Neville who has made tons of bad predictions as a pundit. If Arsenal won against Southampton and West Ham he'd be singing a different tune and eating his words. It's been a close race. And anytime it's a close race City are always going to be favorites and get the benefit of the doubt. The same way Bayern are given the benefit of the doubt to win the BL even if they're a few points behind. But fair play to Neville, he made a call and it turned out correct.
I called this ages ago too! This arsenal are nowhere near the Liverpool of last season. If you want to compete with city, Liverpool have set the standard, you need to be near perfect to even compete with them
@@robertdixon9701 Spot on Liverpool took them to the last game, Arsenal cant even do this after being 8 POINTS CLEAR! All fans who paid £4,000 for Wolves game look stupid
The problem was saying Man U would finish 2nd above Arsenal which was ridiculous.
End of last season saying it was Arsenals best chance to finish in the top 4 and Arteta wouldn't get anything more out of this team. The man who won the PL 8 times said this.
Hardly anyone disagreed on his take on the title challenge. Many thought City would eventually win it.
@@FilipHansen-uh8nk I think he was on the wind up with that, it’s the sort of thing I’d do if I was getting grief from arsenal fans
Even as a City fan i have to admit Nevilles summing up is always spot on .

It's so fierce
As an Arsenal fan, let me express my profound respect to Gary Neville for calling it against Arsenal many weeks ago. Class and experience, nothing more.
Profound respect? It wasn't the call of the decade 😂 Man City are a squad of title winners and it was always close
He also said man utd would finish second... We're 15 points clear of them... 5 wins 😂
@@owenrodgers8020yeah arsenal have surpassed expectations. Hopefully coming so close will just motivate them more next season rather than deflate them. It's going to be hard beating city with their experience, depth and manager.

Gundogan always turns into prime R9 when the PL title is on the line
Most days at the top of the league. What a trophy for Arsenal!!!
Don't forget they also lifted the St James' Park trophy 🎉
Noone said it was
It's progress, nobody expected Arsenal to be in this position at the start of the season, I was seen as overly optimistic when I thought they would finish 3rd. It's disappointing how the season has ended but ultimately it was an expected result, Arsenal can improve a lot as I believe the squad is actually quite poor overall and this season has been a massive overachievement
@@jaybeee789 Who?
@@stealthiscool being in a very strong position to win the league and then letting west ham and Southampton into the net is a mentality issue. Calling it an overachiement and not a capitulation is a reflection of that mentality.
It seemed a bit far fetched at the time when he said what he said but it was quite weird that everyone disregarded a man’s opinion on a title race when he’s been in about 12 himself, winning 8, and also losing a few. He knows what it takes. He’s been in both arsenal and cities shoes. Young team trying to win it. And also the experienced side knowing how they pur in the business end of the season. Respect his opinion people
He doesn’t think Saliba had a big effect on this run though which is nonsense, comparing it to like City and Liverpool having injury issues in title run ins, this Arsenal team aren’t on the level squad wise of those teams going at it in their pomp so that’s a wrong comparison to make. They conceded 25 goals with Saliba in 27 PL games and 17 goals in 9 games without, that’s a huge difference. They still definitely could’ve struggled at this point but they don’t drop points in 5 games in the last 7.

Another week 🙂
Another great podcast 😊
G Nev Utd family ♥️
I think it’s likely that City’s comprehensive win probably did deflate Arsenal today, though it’s still a surprise they lost 3-0 at home, given how professional they were at Newcastle last week.
The only times I can remember teams winning the Premier League at anything like the first attempt are Wenger’s Arsenal in 97/98 (some of those players did win the old first division in 90/91), Mourinho’s Chelsea in 04/05 (and they were already a work in progress when Jose arrived) and obviously Leicester, as the king of all outliers, in 2015-16.
If you look at all the others, you can see they had to struggle, suffer and come up short before it happened for them: Man Utd lost out to Leeds in 91/92 in the last season of the old first division; Blackburn similarly missed out in 93/94 then scraped through the following year; Man City had to build their way there and scrape through; Pep’s Man City era also started with a learning curve; Klopp’s Liverpool also had to (quite harshly) miss out by a point in 18/19 before they won it in 2019/20.
City clearly now have what Liverpool had in the 80s and Man Utd had in the 90s and 00s: a slowly evolving group of core players who’ve seen and done it all before and know what it takes to get over the line in a title race.
Like Ferguson and Paisley before him, Pep seems to know when it’s time to move certain players on to keep the team winning.
Arsenal have shown they’re much closer to the top than they have been for years but still have some way to go.
I do hope they get there.
Age is starting to creep up on a few key City players now: De Bruyne, Walker, Mahrez and Gundogan are all in their 30s and we may see a drop off while the squad is recycled in the next season or two.
Very measured and accurate take. Weird to see among CZcams comments, hahah.
City know what they're doing to replace their aging core, they've done that before with kompany, Silva, aguero and fernandinho.
Arsenal and investment just don't go hand in hand unfortunately. Ozil, mustafi, lacazette, Aubameyang, Nicolas Pepe, all massive failures. Don't forget in arteta's first full season he entertained the agent of willian and David luiz, two players Chelsea wanted rid of anyway. The likes of Sambi lokonga and tavares might still work out but they're on loan elsewhere for a reason
Out of the Carabao Cup- we are focusing on the league
Out of the Fa Cup- we are focusing on league
Out of the Europa League - we are focusing on the league

I feel bad Brighton have such tough games to finish the season because they deserve Europa league football for the job the manager has done even without Trossard. There's no reason Brighton can't do what Newcastle did this season or even Arsenal if they make some moves during the Summer but I have a feeling that just like Leicester and Southampton a few seasons ago, big teams are going to swoop in and take Caicedo and/or Mitoma soon.
