Thanks Brian. Great review.
Thanks Ron!
Thanks, great comparison
Thanks so much!
Great video, thanks. Wath about Ezviz ?
We've reviewed ezviz a few times! Nothing wrong with them, just not a real popular P/T model that we've had from them
Why didn’t you include Eufy or TP-link in your review?!??? They are both inexpensive and have 2K resolution…puzzling how you decided on some of your selections
I tried to include TP Link actually. Didn't get the camera in time. Eufy isn't getting into a video until they address privacy concerns that were exposed last year. They won't address it and I won't give them free press until they do
@@AutomateYourLife- I thought they address those privacy concerns. Which specifically are you referring to?
I have Eufy for my camera ecosystem - I'm not sure if I would redo the same system, but I had the cameras mostly before the security concerns were raised.
@wmf1595 They did a few things. My problems would take more than this space to explain but here's the gist of it.
The solutions hid the problems instead of addressing the security gap, in some cases. Then when we asked them to explain their strategy to address the overall set of concerns, they avoided the conversation. Each time, walking away from simple high level explanations of their strategy.
When a company hides from a conversation like this, it spells trouble. Other companies have sought us out to have conversations in this situation.
Hope that helps.
Could you explain the whole “local vs. cloud based” scenarios in a future video?
I avoid Amazon, Google, Samsung Smart things because they are all cloud based ecosystems, for everything!
Am I correct that Ring has all video footage processed on their servers? Plus cameras similar to Ring all push subscription services onto users that other companies provide no-charge.
To me cloud processing is basically putting my information out there without any privacy control.
(…and btw, how does that make eufy so suspect in light of the ecosystems I just mentioned.)
I think it’s foolish to set up any smart home, including security cameras, where your data is processed on a company’s cloud servers. Local control should be the goal long term, especially if privacy is important to you.
I can!
Awesome video! The one thing I wasn't clear on is which cams, if any, can be pulled up on Google nest home hub devices for live viewing? Thats the one feature i like in the Nest cams but their image quality is such garbage so I'm looking to switch, but don't want to lose the ability to say "Hey Google, show me the garage" etc and have it pop up on my nest hub
Hey Adam! Check out sheet out. If it says it's compatible with Google Home, you can do that. But check details for things like delays and issues we ran into.
Best for Google is Aqara right now. For sure
Thanks.
You're welcome! Thank you :)
Next time you do a deep review of many makes and models, you should apply a filter and divide the camera's into at least two camps, the most important
camp that's the most important is the power source flexibility: Not everyone watching videos like this fits into a indoor audience or outdoor audience, but
as you know cordles or battery operated camera's are special in that, they're meant to fit a situation when regular power supply isn't available, all the unique features of a camera
don't mean anything if someone is looking for a battery operated camera, and while we are on the subject of non traditional household 110 outlet power, don't lump
solar exclusive camera's with other camera's, because solar based camera's can be unreliable, I have good sun exposure one one side of my home, like many people do, but
when it's cloudy, than the camera may or may not even work those days or the next , needless to say those type of camera's should always be in there own unique category because of the unreliability of them,
otherwise your video is providing some good info, but just keep in mind two main category's of outdoor or indoor or battery powered VS non battery powered are really fundamental to
the filtering process,
Ok thanks!
Great video, Brian. Lot's of research, leading to more informed choice. Thank you, Sir! 😁😁😁
Thank you Big Bear! As a member, you can watch the deep dive version which explains the details a little more :)
Great review. I assume these are only indoor though?
Nope! Some are outdoor too. Check the spreadsheet/guide for some more details on indoor/outdoor options and IP ratings for your install spot :)
@@AutomateYourLife Oh wow, cool thanks.
Are Tapo better than Wyze?
I’m thinking moving on from Eufy
Tapo > wyze generally
Google Camera?
Not included?
No pam and tilt models!
Apple Home definitely needs to integrate P/T controls in their native app. Oh yeah and 1080p for HomeKit Secure Video is laughable in 2023.
Yeah those little details hey sir?
Can you not use a solar panel and just plug in a USB from a outdoor light socket?
Any product "celebrity" endorsement is always something to run from
Each camera would need to be looked at individually for that outdoor light socket use case, and even worse, it's against codes to do so in some countries/areas. As for a solar panel, yes in general you can do that but you'll have to watch out for underpowering your camera. Cameras use different amounts of power based on what they're doing, and if your solar panel is suddenly supplying too little, you'll essentially brownout your camera...causing failures.
@@AutomateYourLife so check out how much power the solar panel provides and find a USB adapter. I probably won't do it but I'm in northern Canada, winter is pretty dark.
I'm not sure if security cameras will even work in our low temps, best I've seen is - 20c
😁😁😁👍👍👍
😃😃
This was a fantastic video, very informative and well made 👏 Subbed 🫡
Looks like i'll be waiting for the Aqara E1 to be made available here in Australia 😅 I can do some research into it but do you know off the top of your head how the E1 would compare to the TP-Link pan & tilt?
I'm actually just getting that one in! Stay tuned! So far they're both very good (E1 and TC73)
70% preferred option 2 for this weeks thumbnail and you went with option 1. 🤔 Skipping this weeks video in protest
Nope! It's a thumbnail test! I get to put both up and YT tries them both for 2 days then gives me the results.
So I learn 😃
Chinese Yi camera better than all of those
What do you think is better about the Yi cameras Gary? I've tried a few
Ring will cease to support cameras and app in march 24
