  • Disney's Beauty and the Beast | The Devastating Truth About What REALLY Happened To The Beast's Parents...
In almost every version of The Beauty and The Beast, there have been two missing characters who have basically never been mentioned. I’m talking about the Beast’s parents. I mean, they were nowhere to be found before or after the curse that turned the Prince into a beast, and as far as fans got to see, he never even mentioned them to Belle. Sure, his mother and father made a brief appearance during a flashback in the live-action version, but that still didn’t add much information about them. Well, after looking into multiple fan theories and then digging around history, it seems everyone can rest easily knowing that the Beast’s parents have been found. Be warned though, you might not like what you hear when you learn the devastating truth about what happened to them and why they were never around.

@daniellevinson6975 Yup because the enchantress aka evil fairy was the real villain of the og fairy tale and cursed the prince who refused to marry his own aunt and nurse who also was very very old and wicked.

Maybe the Beast is the ruling monarch of a principality, which is a small area ruled by a Prince and/or a Princess, so maybe the Beast’s parents were a Prince and a Princess.

For the record, the Enchantress is a reiteration of character tropes from ancient times: the fairy/deity who tests people's character while going in disguise. I don't think we have much need to speculate why Madame Rambeaux would have to test her own ward...

In the original fairy tale by Madam Villeneuve, the beast/prince's father has died when the prince was still a baby and his queen mother is away defending the kingdom in a war against a neighboring power and returns only at the end of the story. Before Disney's Live action remake, I considered this my headcanon.

1:41 The story is set in the *equivalent* of France within a FICTITIOUS UNIVERSE, so I wouldn't go linking the characters with actual historical figures.

I think Adam's parents are absent because he may not necessarily have been in line for the throne; Adam may have been the in-universe equivalent of a duke.

I never considered Belle's mom, but (according to my theorizing skills) it would be a very good theory. We never see Belle's mom, and we don't know what happened to her, same thing with Beast's mom.

@@RandomQueen-jv1pi i guess in the original fairy tale beasts mom is away fighting for the kingdom until she returns in the end of the tale. I am not sure what the original tale says for Belles mom. But Belles mom being an enchantress, and someone who stood in the gap for magical creatures being targeted by all royals til they were all but killed off is an awesome story. Definitely read The Twisted Tale: What is Belles Mom Was The Enchantress.

Louis XVI was actually an introverted and shy individual, inexpressive; and very withdrawn. He became a patient father; he had interests in mechanics; he grew to be fond of Marie Antoinette after a protracted rocky start and interlude. He was aware of his shortcomings but part of his tragedy is that he wasn't equipped to to understand how to improve, or how to deal with the economic and traumatic period he was in charge of. He was never happy with the necessity of being the center of attention, and this was also something that fed into the catastrophe that was his reign and his destruction.
There were many legends about young Louis XVII surviving the Revolution, but we do now know that he didn't.

If that was the case maybe turning into a beast saved the Beast's life. After all nobody would recognize him as Louis the 17th's son.

For the record, I DON'T have a low opinion of this video. Your hypotheses reflect both creativity *and* careful research. 👍 Props to ya!
I just deem it wiser to assume historical figures merely provide LOOSE inspiration for fairytale characters; linking the latter *directly* to the former probably leads to hypotheses that fall apart much too easily.

This idea doesn’t seem all that far-fetched. Monarchs in other countries did send their sons and daughters to live in other palaces/castles across the country. Even ruthless monarch King Henry VIII lived away from his parents when he was a child since his older brother Arthur was originally in line for the throne and so Henry was more or less free to do what he wanted and wasn’t trained to be a “proper king,” so when Arthur died and Henry had to ascend the throne, he decided to have a large group of men do everything for him so he could continue doing what he enjoyed. He did the same thing to his children, making them live in houses across the country and hardly ever saw them.
