"Just like your mother, you're unfailingly kind. A trait people never fail to undervalue, I'm afraid." - Albus Dumbledore
i love dumbledore
Oh yeah, she was really kind to Snape when they went to school together. He introduced her to her powers...and she married the man that bullied him. Nice.
@@aaronmartin4611 Yes, she was. They were best friends and, as stated by Rowling, could even have been lovers if things had went differently.
James changed in his seventh year, and Lily reciprocated the feelings he had for her after that. He improved as a person and shouldn't be judged entirely based on his past actions. That isn't disrespectful to Snape; it would be disrespectful of Snape to not understand that.
@@aaronmartin4611 agreed. Shes painted as kind, but how can you laugh at your best friend while hes being tortured by a gang? They really got after him with two or more of them together and lilly never thought that was unfair? How kind was that?
@@willowsverge3046 Exactly! If she would have stood up for him I would think differently.
She did the love protection spell just out of instinct, she didnt cast any spell, her sacrefice WAS the spell. Just like harry did after getting hit by avada kedavra for the 2nd time
Yes but that may not be the case. Voldemort says it’s an old magic while Dumbledore says its her sacrifice. Dumbledore always simplifies things like explaining to a child. So i think i agree Voldemort. Because this is the logical answer. If you surround your house with protective spell wouldn’t you do the same for your child?
@@alpborakirte801 she probably had a few protection spells put on harry but thats irrelevant when avada kedavra is involved. Its stated pretty clear in the books why the spell happened, she didnt plan anything. The difference between James dying for his family and the spell not being activated but it was activated by lilys death; Lily had a choice, james didnt. Voldemort gave her an out multiple times, telling her to step aside and she can live. James didnt get that option at all. Lilys refusal to move even though she could escape is what activated the spell.
@@alpborakirte801it was ancient magic. Which in some instances can be more powerful than any spell.
@@awesometubing9471tell me not of the old magic, witch. For i was there when it was written

What I can't believe is no other person in the whole wizarding world sacrificed themselves for there son or daughter or whatever
The person who played Lily was atleast 35-40. Not 18-20…….
Yeah that's what happens when you start shooting movies without the whole story being fleshed out. They're riddled with inaccuracies, like the Dursleys cars which are early/mid 2000s models in the first few movies. They were ten years to new for the 1991-1998 timeline for the Harry Potter books - probably because Rowling hadn't released (possibly hadn't written yet) any of that information. In the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone there's no mention of anyones age except the age of children, the parents aren't given an age. Neither is the timeline firmly established, very few dates are ever given.
@@cr4zyj4ckTbf it doesn’t really make a difference if the films are set in the 90’s or the 00’s
@@cr4zyj4ckwho tf cares 🤦🏿
@@niggachu420the real Harry Potter fans. Obviously your not one of them.
Yeah everyone knows they were super young in the books and normal parent aged in the movies. Sorry the movies didn’t want Lily to be a teen mom😂. Get over it
Snape was her best friend and he showed her how to accept her powers. It's super nice that she repaid Snape later by being a great friend and sticking up for him when he was being bullied. She was such a great person.
She can be a good person but not great, she had smiled when snape's pants were opened by James, it was in the books. If she was truly his friend she would fought with james for that just like Hermione would have done for Harry
@@nikhilpaswan1105I also smiled when my friend had his pants pulled down by his older brother. About a decade later, we're still best friends and bring it up as a funny story.
It was funny and nobody got hurt, just mildly embarrassed. We still had eachother's backs.
@@shadowmaster902 I am talking about opening pants in front of a group of boys and girls and also James was nor his brother neither his(Snape) friend.
@@nikhilpaswan1105To be fair, she did end up drawing her wand out and even when James said something like, “Don’t make me hex you”, she still yelled at him to stop and he actually did and told Snape that he was lucky that Lily was there, which was when he called her a mudblood.
@@mxhxx It would have been much nicer if she had done it before James had taken his pants off, at the moment when he was hunging him upside down. And after that day she stopped talking to Snape because he called her a mudblood though he apologized many times for that but can forgave James' deed to Snape and never she stopped to talk with him.
Can a true friend, example, Hermione or Ron can still talk to Draco if he had done the same to Harry?
I just imagine when james didnt have his wand when voldemort attacked he was gonna walk up to him and just smack the shit out of him
like some will smith type slap
James was nothing
@@aaronmartin4611 james was a british resident, he could probably smack him
@@aaronmartin4611Being a resident of england gives you unnatural powers (not wizarding powers)
I’m pretty sure a stag is very heavy, so if Hames was fast enough, he could probably crush Voldemort as a Stag.
Lily create most powerful charm in the Harry Potter universe
Can anyone explain to me why the Potters thought the height of a war against the second most evil wizard of all time struck them as a fantastic time to settle down and buy a house with a picket fence and have a freaking baby?
If you go according to the video game, then Lily also had old magic in her😅 which she didn’t get to explore cuz she died at the age of 21🤷♀️
Do you think if Lilly was still alive she would be a Hogwarts professer?
Something they failed to show in the movie, Harry Performed the love/sacrifice spell causing any spell Voldemort cast on any Hogwarts student or teacher never worked.
Her protection only worked before she knowingly sacrificed herself. Snape's love for Lilly saved Harry.
Something to be corrected here. Lily herself didn’t cast or intent to cast the protective charm on Harry. She was an unwanted death, Voldemort was going to spare her. But instead of stepping aside, she begged Voldy to spare her son, and her refusal to step away, when she wasn’t even meant to be kill, yet still was, was what casted the charm on Harry. If she weren’t meant to be spared, i.e. if Snape hadn’t begged Voldy to spare him, her death wouldn’t have meant anything and Harry would’ve died then and there.
Harry's parents actors are too old to play his parents 😅
So was lupin and Sirius black but no one ever says it get over it they were all 21 when Harry died
alan rickman too was way older for snape. 22 years older to be exact
I guess it was for act wise
The thing is no one knew how old Lily and James were until Deathly Hallows during the Godric’s Hollow chapter where we find out there dates of birth. Before that no one except Rowling knew how old they were. So the casting of Geraldine Somerville and Adrian Rawlins is forgivable in my eyes. Same thing goes for David Thewlis, Gary Oldman, Timothy Spall, Alan Rickman, and a few others I’m probably missing.
@@willhorowitz8806on the other hand though, I don’t know of any actors, if any actors, could’ve handled the jobs of Rickman, thewlis, oldman. I’m happy with the inaccuracy because others simply wouldn’t have been good enough
Would love to see first wizard war movies following Lily.
9.3 is low; she used magiic that few were able to use and Voldie was incapable of using; Ancient magic.
Ik she got the same score as the house elves 💀
HOLD UP!! Lilly was good at potions so snape wanted to teach potions at first even though he hated it 😳😳😳😳
No Snape wanted the Defense Against the Dark Arts Role, I don't think him being the Potion's teacher relates to his love for Lily.
Fair enough. Both her and James were INCREDIBLY young when they died.
As someone say Snape could become a podium wizard if he didn't die so young, same thing can be said for Lily.
I think maybe she deserved also higher than 9.5, but that's only because she's the only one we see being able to use such an amazing charm
They wrre like 20 or so right? Such is the way of wars though, it is the young and fit who pay the dearest price.
21. To me, the biggest casting frustration in the movies was getting actors much older to play his parents. You'd _really_ see the tragedy for what it is if we saw that. At least with most of the Marauders Generation in present times, you could justify hiring older actors becaide a) you were looking for the cream of the crop, and b) they had gone through some stuff, which aged them. (And David Thewlis was only six years older than his character when he first started, so is that really too much of a stretch?) But James and Liky were little more than extras.
@@cr4zyj4ck yes they were 21 if I remember correctly. Really sad, but it really indicative of their natural strength
@@wvu05I agree, some people say they look to old (meaning Sirius, Remus and Snape) but Sirius was in prison for 12 years, Remus was a werewolf and Snape, well he was just…
@@jessfidler2356 Indeed. Give a performance for the ages like Alan Rickman did and I don't care if he is 23 years older than the character or even more for that matter.
Well Snape told Voldemort not to kill her and to give her a chance to surrender, he gave her 3 chances
People hating on Lily just stinks of misogyny so bad. Like.. here's a kid who is thrown into a world which prejudices against her kind (muggleborn) and her parent's kind (muggles). There's a terrorist group that's on the rise to oppress and murder her kind. Ever since she joined her school, she's watching her best friend be friends with folks who want to kill her kind.. omg Lily Evans is so mean!
Seriously? She was a kid who grew up out of her mind with worry about being killed.. her own sister hated her for being magic AND the magical world hated her for being magic. But she's the bad guy? It's amazing that the muggleborns didn't straight up start murdering the purebloods!
had nobody else throughout the history of the wizarding world ever sacrificed themselves for loved ones in a similar way? Surely this has happened before?
I'm pretty sure it has cuz Voldemort calls himself stupid for not knowing
Even if it did, it would be an extremely rare occurrence. Theres no records on it, or we would have known.
Not by someone as known as Voldemort. Probably just wasn't known
@@lanix875Yeah, super rare for a parent to sacrifice their life for their child 😅
muggles are powerful !!♡
Why didn't the potters fight back? Together, I would assume, they could have fought back hard and beat him. Since they were both highly skilled.
they didn't have their wands with them
I was always confused by this... Why wasn't James armed all the time? If they had always planned for Lily to run with Harry why didn't she disapparate with him (assuming infants can apparate and disapparate with a person) of course all these what-ifs leads to a wildly different story but still interesting to think about
Cant they apparate with harry?
i think they could have. But then we wouldn’t have a story 😟
@@bobababy6089 not without wands
Lily was a good witch and we all miss her
She defied Voldermort 4 times by her death
Nah that isn't an example of how powerful she is just that she's a good person if you gonna use something you may as well use that fact she transfigured a Lilly into a fish that lived till she died that is a better example of her power doesn't sound as Kool as sacrifice but any good person weak or strong could do the sacrificial protection but turn a leaf to a fish and then have it stay alive for years that's skill
That was just for the film, turning a Lily into a fish
@@Ollie.H-2301 yea I know but it's still a better example then accidentally casting old magic she had no knowledge of and which Harry also performed and Harry isn't a powerful wizard more an average wizard
@@TheGreenWizard-gf3ie Harry is not average. He could produce a Corporeal Patronus Charm at age 13. He also won the Triwizard tournament at 14. Before you say it was rigged, all Moody did was point him in the right direction, Harry did the rest.
@@Ollie.H-2301 wouldn't say it was rigged but none of what he did was especially skilled besides the patronus all the spell he used we average spells and most of his strategy and plans were not his own

One of the most accurate things in the Harry Potter universe is how powerful wizards are jerks lol James, Lilly, Dumbledore...even the best ones are pretentious to say the least, not to mention Voldemort and Grindelwald. The only people in the series who don't at some point act like they're better than anyone are the Weasley parents and Hagrid. Realistic.
They're talking about her like we're all stupid and have no idea who Harry Potter is 😅😅😅 I love it ❤❤
She kinda tormented Voldemort until his Death despite being dead herself 😅
When did they defy him 3 times i never get it.
I think she deserves a ten outa ten
No she was mother who gave her life to protect her child why 9.3 hell no please she deserves 10/10
7.9? Maybe but still likely high considering that her “spell” to protect Harry was probably accidental.
9.7? Same as Moody? Completely ridiculous.
She didn't know what she did nor even that she did the magic that protected Harry from Voldemort, it really shouldn't count towards a score, its like saying Harry making the glass disappear at the zoo should count toward his
One thing snape was not lily’s neighbor the lived in the same town but she lived in the nice part and he was across the river in the slums
Lily deserves a 19❤❤❤❤❤❤😮😮😮
no but i hate SO much how old these actors were even if i think sirius remus and snape were also perfect for the role they died at 21!! and the rest was supposed to be in their mid 30s i hope they fix that in the series 😂
Wait... Voldemort was going to spare her?
Per Snape's request
He actually did try to spare her. In the books, he tells her to move out the way but he doesn’t, which is why he kills her.
Straight A student, she only got Acceptable?
The grading chart:
O: Outstanding
E: Exceeds Standards
A: Acceptable
P: Poor
D: Dreadful
T: Troll
I highly doubt Voldimort would have spared either of them. His word is nothing
I don't know how significant it was, based on Voldemort's character at the time, but that he personally went to the Potter house might suggest some combination of respect for the powers of Lily and James, or a lack of faith in whoever he could have delegated the task upon, or that the intended objective was more nuanced or delegate than just a triple kedavra.
He was because if he wasn't Lily's protection wouldn't have been activated
@@lanix875snape asked him to not do it and voldemort even said for her to move numerous times and when she didn’t he killed her
okay if LILY is a 9.3 and MOLLY IS A 9.6 WHAT SIR MAY I ASK IS A 10??
Yet she loved a bully and left the only guy who supported her i mean snape
If Lily wanted to be with James then that is her choice and nobody elses (especially not Snivellus). She doesn't owe Snivellus anything, especially after how he called his so-called "friend" a mudblood.
@paulyb7267 why was she laughing when james was bullying snape.she triggered severus
@@farhatzubair1668 uhh when did she laugh when James bullied Snape ?
Having children whilst involved in a dangerous activity is the height of selfishness and delusion. Lily and James were straight up jagweeds
So by your logic would you also be calling Frank Longbottom, Remus Lupin, and Lucius Malfoy as terrible fathers too simply because they (like James Potter) were either active Order members or (in the case of the latter) Death Eaters who all had children whilst fighting in a war as members of a vigilante group. Honestly, I don't get why you are so biased against James.
I'd give her a 7
I say youll give him a 9.8

she was a straight A student this if funny because in wizard grads that was equal to a C. Lilly was a O student
How are Lily and Dobby the same power level
I don't understand Lily's character. Like, "sees the best in others", but then leaves her best friend for his bully? And she kept telling Snape to stay away from his friends is Slytherin, but then when he tells her to stay away from James, she's like "don't tell me what to do".
Because James changed for Lily. James also saved Snape’s life in their seventh year, that’s why Snape tried to save Harry from
Quirrel in the first book because he felt he was in debt to James and he hated it. Also, Snape was a bully himself. He joined a group of Slytherins who aspired to be death eaters and they bullied muggle borns, which caused Lily to drift away from Snape. Snape then called Lily a mud blood in their fifth year when she tried to stop James from bullying Snape, and Snape didn’t want Lily’s help. He tried to apologize to Lily, but the damage had been done. It then took James two years of maturing and changing his behavior to finally convince Lily to go on a date with him. Basically, both Snape and James changed. James changed for Lily, and Snape changed, thinking the dark arts would impress Lily. Honestly, I would’ve picked James too. At least he matured without getting Lily, her husband, and baby hunted down by Voldemort, unlike Snape.
@daniellushbaugh4693 James basically HAD to save Snape from Lupin. He was an unregistered animagus. If he didn't, it would have caused more trouble for both he and Sirius and especially for Lupin. He also knew that if he didn't, it would have spiraled Lupin into even more depression knowing he attacked a fellow student, even if he didn't like him. Lupin actually cared not to be a problem even if he didn't stop his friends from being assholes. Lupin would have never forgiven James if he hadn't stopped Lupin, so it was in James' best interest to save Snape even if he didn't want to.
@@zwinmagellicar6720 right, just like why Snape saved Harry. He felt that he HAD to repay the debt to James.
@daniellushbaugh4693 no he didn't. He saved harry because that was the job Dumbledore gave him, protect harry and the thing he used to make him do it is the precedence that it was "for lilly" as snape says in the chapter "the princes tale" and the deathly hallows movie
