Exactly! People seem to forgot all the horrible bullying just because he turned out to be working against Voldy. Well I'm sorry but he's still a terrible person imo
Snape as a grown man bullied children so hard that a 12 year old girl permanently changed her appearance and a boy who literally watched his parents be tortured to madness as a toddler have him as his worst fear while we see James a teenager start shit with another teenager who was racist, elitist and insulted the girl he loved by calling her a slur, a girl that that other teenager also "loved" miss me with this James Potter slander
Did we read the same books. James was going after Snape from the first day, not because he used a slur against lily. That too was 4 against one. Not to mention Snape used that slur in his lowest moment, after James just hung him upside down without provocation with his underpants to be seen by half of the school. He did apologize to her after that. I would love to see how you react if something like that happens to you.
@mahalak4383 so that to you excuses 33 year old bullying 12 year olds? But we obviously read different books because there was no day one meeting between james and snape, so you are either confusing fan fiction with canon. There was that one interaction and snapes hatred towards Harry, who is spitting image of James. But if that were to happen to me, I wouldn't call a person who saved me from that situation a slur but thanked them and called them a hero or something. Unlike you, if you agree with snape, I don't like calling people hateful things for any reason, let alone if i love them and they saved me from embarrassment no matter how much blood has gone to my head.
It was one sided because Snape was ganged up on and he was defending himself. He’s a gray character, he’s done both good and bad. Also, he never even asked Lily out, so how could she reject him? Unless you meant when he tried to apologize? Nor did he know who was included in the prophecy when he reported it to Voldemort. Snape called Lily a Mudblood in a moment of rage. I’m not excusing it, but you’re wording it as though he started calling her that left and right, after he apparently got rejected. And if Snape changed sides because of Lily then… so what? A huge message of Harry Potter is how love can always conquer over evil. Same case with Regulus and Kreacher, Dumbledore and Ariana, and Narcissa and Draco. Not that you can’t see similarities, but the fact that you think it’s equivalent at all is ridiculous.
What surprised me most was that some Movie fans think that Lily should’ve chosen Snape over James… It’s true that James was a bully as a kid, but he grew out of it, joined the Order of Phoenix, finally died for his family. On the other hand, Snape became a loyal Death Eater despite Lily’s warnings, and asked Voldemort to kill Harry and James (2 innocent people) and spare Lily. If the Chosen One wasn’t Lily’s son, Snape would still be a Death Eater during the whole series. Regardless, he is one of my favorite characters, I love his « redemption » at the end because it’s so emotional and changed my perspective, but I can’t say that Snape was good for Lily, who hated the fact that he called her and other Muggleborns « mudbloods »

@@aunaqeel6691 I get where ur coming from but it was a two way street, yea James was a bit of a dick first year but everyone is, but it only started becoming James and Snape bullying not just James, Snape did some pretty horrible things while he was at school, and the ppl he hung out with did worse. The difference between Snape and James is that James grew up and got over it, where as Snape didn’t, he went on to bully Harry his whole school years (literally making him HATE going to snapes classes) the only reason he went to Dumbledore and switched sides was because he was in love with lily (who btw had none of the same feelings and made that very clear after he called her slurs) and asked Voldemort to spare lily, he didn’t care and preferred for James and Harry to be killed just so he could have another shot with lily. And Dumbledore would not have made James the school captain (idk I think that’s what it’s called) if he had thought James was a bad person (like what be did with Tom riddle) ALSO SAFE TO SAY SNAPE LITERALLY ABUSED KIDS IN MULTIPLE WAYS, PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY.
I think one of the main reason Snape and James hated each other was because of Lily, James hated snape bc he was a Slytherin and was clear friends with Lily, so he saw that as a threat to his affections with her. Same thing with Snape. He grew up in an abusive home so resented James who he thought was spoiled, arrogant, and thought himself better than others and reveled in the attention. Thats why he hated harry so much, he believed Harry loved the fame and attention he was getting, and mistakenly believed Harry was spoiled. Harry was sassy and cheeky to Snape because that was the only way he could get back at the Dursleys for their treatment of him. People with a bad childhood tend to be defensive, sarcastic, and sassy when faced with bullying or someone they dont like, I have met many people like that. Neither James or Snape were good people, plus this was during their teenage years, and im sure James regretted how he treated Snape, if only for Lily's sake. James DID change, only because Lily wouldn't have been with him if he stayed the way he was.
James didn't change if you read the books you would see that James went behind her back and only pretended to change Severus is a gray character. Because who wouldn't retaliate against someone like that? And because he grew up the way he grew up in an abusive home and an abusive school. How else do you expect him to turn out? What are you talking about? Where in the books does it suggest that Snape had Avery and Mulciber back him up? James wouldn’t attack Snape unless he was alone. So no, 4v1 or 2v1 is not a fair fight. Remus saw how Sirius and James would treat Snape, but never intervened. Even though he didn’t approve. As for Peter, he too just stood by and watched. Probably enjoyed it too. I’m not even trying to be funny, but honestly what Harry Potter series were you reading? Is it that ATYD fanfic? Because the books itself could not have made it any clearer that the Marauders were straight up bullies back in their day.
Am I the only ones who love the marauders and likes that they are flawed? James bullies and goes too far with people he hates, especially slytherin’s with how he sees them but when he’s your friend he is the most loyal person who will do everything for you… I mean that’s literally who he is. Plus it creates an interesting dynamic because Remus is against the bullying but is scared to say anything incase he loses his friends who did so much for him, I think it creates an interesting dynamic that could be explored more in the fandom
These pics are most likely done by using AI. I bet that thing can’t create ugly people even if you asked. It would probably say "sorry, I don’t understand the request". 😂
Can't believe nobody is talking about this!!! Sirius and Snape hate each other because they both represent what the other hates the most. Snape- raised ashamed of his "half blood" and poor, looks at Sirius of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black; wealthy, handsome, charming, and sees all that he wishes he could be. Meanwhile, Sirius is living in a nightmare house that turns violently toxic and abusive after he is placed in the "wrong house". Like, Walburga was ~like that~ the whole time. (Portraits are a good representation of personality) So seeing sneering Snape, with his wildly racist ideas and sneering attitude, trips every trigger Sirius has. Plus, Snape isn't a cousin or family friend, which would have confusing feelings (that Sirius would never admit to) of old affection. Pureblood incest for the win? James and Snape's soon-to-be Death Eater buddies are just drawn into the conflict from their loyalty to their friends. I'm not convinced that this is bullying, or cliques escalating to violence in a world that can kill or cure you with the wave of a twig.
James Potter: Bullied Snape for being heavy into the Dark Arts when he was 15 (maybe 11-15) Grew out of being a bully by age 16, joined the Order of the Phoenix as an adult and fought wizard supremacy Severus Snape: Super into the dark arts at 15, good friends with the aspiring wizard supremacists, called his best friend (Lily Evans) a mudbloood when she tried defending him. Did not grow out of it; joined the wizard supremacist group, got innocents killed, bullied children and teens from age 21-38. Canonically has greasy unwashed hair “I’d be so in love with him 😍” 😂😅
I think it was very heavily implied that James and Serius bullied Snape for being a weirdo. I would even go as far as to say that his obsession with the dark arts stems partially because of the bullying. Lily dispised James for this reason. Everything else, I agree with you lol
Boo-freaking-hoo... 🙄 Can't people like their own characters and not the "good" ones everyone's supposed to? People relate to Snape, he's flawed and real. James is seen through the rosy lens of Harry, thinking of his dad as a perfect hero, someone who's never met him enough to tell he's just human.
@mirrorbqll_ James litter, we bullied someone he’s on 18 nothing about. He started bowling service in first year. He knew nothing about this kid. He even later on, and we see this because it’s canonic in the books when Harry sees memories of his father threatens Snape, that if he didn’t like Lily, he would’ve Kirsten by now. And this was a later on in the years, Lupin literally admits to the fact that he only became a perfect so that he can pull James back because of how horse and how bad the bullying happen. It got to a point where they almost had lupine expose for being a werewolf and could’ve got him kicked out of Hogwarts, because of them being a little assholes to Severus, and inviting him to come out when they knew that lupine was going to be a werewolf. Severus isn’t perfect but for fucks sake, the man was abused by his father, neglected by his mother only had one friend who genuinely Lily was a shitty ass person, because she never really seem to have tried to do anything with his boy who is infatuated with her to stop him from bullying her best friend who was also dirt poor compared to James. He was part of the secret 28. One of the richest families in the wizard world and only child and spoiled fucking rotten which are all for canonic things that we learn in the books. Then she gets taken from him after her lover boy pull is the absolute shit out of him. He moves him for like the 17th time, and it is canonic that McGonagle even admits to the fact that she wasn’t as hard on James and his getting as she should have been because of how charming they were. She literally missed that she should’ve been harder on them because she let them get away with things that no other student in Hogwarts would have ever gotten away with which alludes to the point that they probably did a lot worse than we actually got to see. Like James was no seats and the worst part is again. It doesn’t take away that what he did was wrong, but Summers have a reason to be pitter James fucking did it homeboy. It was one of the richest wizard in the wizard in the world. His parents were well off, and they absolutely adore the shit out of him. Like what did he lack siblings know because his best friend literally came his brother like there was no reason for James to be an asshole he just was I think that’s the issue way too many people in the fandom glorify the fuck out of him and Louis when they were two of the most fucked up characters it’s just because he died when they were like 21 that people are like no they were so nice they were so lovely everyone loved the home no everyone did it and they weren’t great people

If they ever made a maurauder’s era film, they know who to cast for young Snape. and based on Umbrella Academy, he could definitely do it.
People who says snape bullied children, well he wasn't the one who was sending children to forbidden forest as punishment and also protected children from carrows during his rein as headmaster.
And he was also Neville’s boggart.
Because his reign didn’t last that long so who knows plus yes he bullied children, Neville was literally terrified of him. You snape defenders need to be serious
Other people being assholes doesn't diminish snapes assholery. Yeah he wasn't throwing kids in the forbidden forest, but he was TERRIBLE.

You’re saying, “For real” like your comment isn’t part of the issue.
There’s not just a black and white view when it comes to Snape and the Marauders, that’s what a lot of people don’t get.
No one is forgetting the bad things Snape has done, we know. (Even though both Regulus and Narcissa may not have necessarily been good people).
And for goodness sake’s, I swear people only want to equate Death Eaters to n@azis to help their argument. Despite the fact that a fictional terrorist is not at all equivalent to the real horrors that n@zis have done.

Snape Stan for life !!!❤
I think one of the main reason Snape and James hated each other was because of Lily, James hated snape bc he was a Slytherin and was clear friends with Lily, so he saw that as a threat to his affections with her.

(Portraits are a good representation of personality)
So seeing sneering Snape, with his wildly racist ideas and sneering attitude, trips every trigger Sirius has.

@mirrorbqll_snape fans fancy Alan rickman or movie snape.
