  • First time in Cairo Egypt and visited the Pyramids at Giza. This was something I've been wanting to do forever and it was one of the greatest structures I have ever seen.
Also tried Egyptian McDonald's in Cairo where the burgers are HUGE!

I went to Egypt and give you some tips on down below.
      - Do not walk outside alone especially if you are a female traveler.
      - For the Pyramid and camel ride, ask hotel/guest house tour guide available, a guide lead you to professional livestock for horse and camel. they give you a negotiable price from $35/$50/$70, I hade $50 with an hour ride with camel rider. Just give him about $10 tips will make him at least satisfies.
-I do not recommend you to go on a night train(I did not take it before) it's small uncomfortable and the price is about $100. Just take a train between Alexandria and Cairo, it's the cleanest train. Luxor to Aswan train was full of garbages on the hall and below a seat
      - Whenever you go, take a tour guide is the most reliable and good price than just do yourself.
      - Lastly, there are two restaurants I recommend: Alexandria( Muhammad, it's famous restaurant Mike also went in strictly dumpling), Luxor( I do not know the name but you can find only meat restaurant just across the train station, most reasonable price in whole I Egypt travelled)

Ahh we were in Egypt the exact same time Mikey! Beautiful country with amazing people, however completely agree with you. The first time I went to the pyramids, I had the exact experience that you had. Do not take the camel/horse rides; these guys are illegal and bribe the policemen to let them into to the pyramid complex. They say it is the only way to go and see the pyramids. For my second time (to be honest, I didn't want to go again because of my first experience, but my family wanted to go and see the pyramids), it was much better. If you are being driven into the complex, you need to tell the driver to completely ignore the guys at the first gate and proceed to the official entrance(Warning: It can get quite aggressive as they physically stand in front of the car). The weird thing was is that the policemen at the first entrance as where you are from??? I don't know if this is for security reasons or for scam opportunities. However, once you are at the official gates to the complex, it is absolutely fine.
My word of advice for people looking to see the pyramids, take an official guide to take you around, much less hassle. Please don't let these illegal SCAMELS ruin the opportunity to go and see the pyramids.

It’s a shame that Egypt isn’t as nice to visit anymore. I felt like the country went back a hundred years or so. They scam you, they have no respect for tourists (some are nice), super misogynistic. If you spoke some Arabic, that’d help, but it’s a shame how they rip off innocent people.
The Nile river in Cairo was pretty disappointing as well as they dump the sewage there and it smells and looks pretty bad.
The museum there was also very disappointing. Very dirty, no english texts explaining what I’m looking at, a lot of ancient stuff kept in very poor conditions which is making them decay due to lack of preservation.
I’m sorry if this was all negative, I just really had an awful experience there. :(
I hope Egypt becomes a better place to visit in the future!

    • @Aevilbeast
      @Aevilbeast Před 4 lety +31

Yeah it's real shame the way Egypt is rapidly deteriorating. I've known so many people who were so excited to finally go to Egypt because it was their dream to go there, only to come back super disappointed and just depressed. They just felt so ripped off, and/or nothing lived up to their expectations at all. One friend likened it to finally meeting your hero you looked up to when you were a kid, only to find out they're a drunk con-man.
It's sad to think that instead of Egypt being a bustling and thriving world-renowned destination full of a thousands of years worth's of culture and history is rapidly becoming a dangerous third world country that no one wants to go to.
But one thing does give me hope! That throughout history Egypt has changed so many, many time and has been strong enough to survive so many different wars, rulers and cultures, and have been able to bounce back up again despite everything against it. I just hope it's able to recover before too much of it is ruined beyond repair!

Back in the day most women didn’t feel compelled to do so, but if you don’t have hijab now, you’d get harassed by people and the police. The Christians here lost all their rights and there’s no tolerance for any other religions. It’s really not a good place to be, even for Muslims. I completely understand. Ive lived here in Cairo for many years. It wasn't always as bad as it now. I took my mum and aunt who came from London last year and its alot of haggling and scam artists along the way.
It's always best to have someone Egyptian, preferably male, to be with you to work things out.
All official tickets are sold at the main gates. Ignore all other people other than the maingate ticket office.
Have lts of change with you.
The guys that have camels inside the pyramids are ridiculous with prices quoting $100+ for a photo with the camels etc
We hired the horses from the stables before entering the pyramids and met them inside from the back entrance to the pyramids (there is also a ticket office there).
We paid 300 Egyptian pounds for 2 horse and carts to take us around for the hour. Plus then we gave them tips like 100 Egyptian to both guys.
