- Avoid some of the common pyramid tourist scams you'll surely encounter here in Egypt. The main ones being overpaying for camel rides, being followed around and harassed by guides, etc. Just make sure to negotiate the price and the amount of time before everything else, and you'll be fine.
The three signs of an Egyptian scammer:
1. "Whatever makes you happy, I'm happy."
2. "You look like an Egyptian."
3. *Switches the price up every minute*
'My brother, I make good price for you' - is also another classic.

It’s unbelievable how there are so many videos about scammers in Egypt wow
What you expect is insane thanks to the Egyptian Government
I wanted to book a holiday there as it’s so cheap! Now I know why! 😂
They need to learn to say FO.
There’s more in India lol
Coz the whole country is scam it self .. beautiful place but to scummy
I visited Egypt 12 years ago and the scammers are horrible. They wont leave anyone alone that are a foreigner. It was one of the worst places for me to visit.
I agree too -the pyramids we actually the worst place was constantly harassed didn't enjoy it
Same experience, terrible. They try to scam you everywhere, the bills of the restaurant, the taxis... And they don't respect women, they don't care if alone or with a boyfriend or husband
I don’t care how historical Egypt is there’s no way it’s worth going there if you can’t relax and take in the scenery in peace.
Excellent, you will not feel comfortable there never , evin the police are criminals
i live in Mexico, we have the same problems as Egypt and also a booming tourist industry, with ancient ruins as in Egypt, but our people are not as annoying in this kind of places as in Egypt, this is next level!
I remember going to walk through a door and a man held the door open. He then asked me for money for doing this. The beggars around the Pyramids overwhelm you. I wanted to take my granddaughter to Egypt but I'm not going to subject her to this. The Egyptian government need to crack down on this.
The Egyptian government supports them 😅
I went to Egypt with my daughter, two single women it was hell on earth, constantly hassled no let up, we just couldn't take it and flew back to london 4 day's later, cairo is dirty full of rubbish real nasty place.
Not like London England eh ! LOL
I sympathize with the situation in Egypt, but that doesn't justify harassing visitors or significantly overcharging them, thus tarnishing the reputation of all Egyptians. Such actions erode trust, regardless of whether some individuals are honest or not
What is it about Egypt situation ? Why in Israel people are not begging on the streets like that ? What a disgrace. Maybe instead of supporting hamas terrorists these money can be put towards its own people ?
@@miki_iluz1291 Israel receives billions from USA, EU and other entity and small population
Stay home people, learn more about ancient egypt from books and dokumentaries.
This behavior from people is beyond unacceptable.
It will only change when the tourist industry is on its knees.
Then the Government will have no choice, but to comply with 21st century practices.
Love the way you wade through all the scammer BS! LOL. my hero...
No, you’re the hero, Jesus
Don't give money to beggars. You are not helping them. There are charities for the poor if you want to donate. You are only putting money in the pockets of the adults these kids work for. Even food purchased for them gets sold back to the store for the money.
Ahh, I did not know that. What a shame…
Yes iam Egypt i say not give him and shoud be talk no yet nooo and fireaway
I was in Egypt a week ago and I really don't like it because they scam you for anything and bother you a lot
Yeah, it’s a tough place to travel alone for sure.
Do not pay in the middle of the ride because they do that so you have to pay tip ; 150 should be for everything, he tells you this is the boss so you think the other guy won’t get anything, they share the money between eachother
Im so sad our people acting like that it’s shameless
Yes, it is embarrassing. The government should step in and create rules for all these aggressive touts and scammers. Most Westerners will not travel to a country where they are constantly harassed. 😢
I would never visit Egypt. I’d rather got to morocco
Good video mate nobody talks about this. People need to know so they don’t get scammed. Fair play lots of respect. I will look at your videos and like them for you bro
you'd be stressed out at the end of the day in egypt. You will not pay attention to your vacation but to annoying people.
I was there two days ago, They are really unreal. I could tell absolutely same story. Pushing and pushing...you get rid one of them...another is on your back.
Yes, it’s very hard to roam around in peace. You will be pestered constantly
Well, have you ever been to a 7/11 in Memphis?
I was planning to go was it worth it. I was thinking israel and egypt
@@jdog4usmc1 There's only one place on Earth where you can see great pyramid...so...it's worthed. Now you know what you can expect there. Best advice is NO, THANK YOU....and no more talking. No eye contact and just go your way. Of course, you can always accept what they offer...if you like. You aren' t obligated to show or give your tickets to anybody (like in the video....Michael gaved his ticket to taxi driver...not good idea) except exactly on entry to pyramid.
That’s great news for me 😂 excellent opportunity to practise my spoken Arabic with them
Just found your channel bro. I've watched a lot of videos where touts hustle vloggers. 100EGP to 150EGP is about an hour for a camel/horse ride. You had an advantage where you knew the language. Anyhow, I enjoyed the content, keep at it.
I appreciate the comment! And yes, the little bit of Arabic went a long way here 👍
bro you re just too nice and you have a good personality, cheering from morocco
Holy crap, that is exhasuting AF having to deal with all that ...guess I
can cross Egypt off my list of places to visit.
Yes , you will be followed around in all the tourist sites and they will not leave you alone. Just constant harassing, its hard to enjoy the sites.
Great vlog again we was at the pyramids with our guide so we never got hassled at all they are great to see
Definitely a lot easier and smoother when you have a guide 😁
@@michaelmaams7103 you gave me and my hubby a laugh because we was only there last month so when you said it’s hot we looked at each other and laughed we know what you mean you can’t breath 😂 really enjoyed your Egypt vlogs though it bought it all back to us thankyou
@@michaelmaams7103 Yeah, our hotel hooked us up with a guide who was great, a fun guy who was very affordable (about $12 in US money per hour) and scared away all the scammers and cheaters.
Thanks for helping me make up my mind about visiting Egypt.Too much trash everywhere and the people constantly trying to con you is more than I could or would bear. Maybe I'll go to South America instead.
South America is definitely amazing!
Go to Armenia. It's one of the oldest countries in the world and it feels like Europe. There are ancient churches and no pushy scammers
@@michaelmaams7103 go to bolivia Santa Cruz de la sierra !!!! Is in the top best 50 city in the whole world
In 1991 I visited Venezuela and it was so beautiful, the people were beautiful, the men were real nice too😊 I loved it and I'm sure the rest of South America is beautiful too.
@@TheJuiceor why would an ancient middle eastern country feel like Europe lol, that’s offensive to the ancient land
You need to man up no way the guy would me walking with me all the time😂😂
Great vlog, very interesting to watch! 😊
Thanks 🙏
You are so patient!
If I didn’t cost so much money I’d love to go there just to experience the hustler chaos but no way I’d ever spend my money and take my vacation time to experience this it would be fun for a weekend but these hustlers makes me never want to be near the country
This dude's part of the problem. Don't get any beggers money.
you have a good heart i can tell. very unfortunate that the economy in this country is so bad and a lot of people are resorting to these scam tactics. ruining the tourism culture of Egypt, a country with such vast history. sad, but oh well.
OMG it's relentless. I'll have to wear my headphones all the time 😮
I’m surprised that the official people that actually work at the Pyramids allow the scammers on the site to hound their tourists!.
See, I would totally lose my SH*T The relentless begging would just totally mess up my whole trip. Once I say no one time that is it the conversation is finished you guys are too nice. Definitely bringing my AIRHORN SHUT them down.
This is why I'm using a tour company with security because i will be arrested if I gotta deal with them 🤣🤣🤣
Great content man! Reminds me of when I watched Kurt Caz back in his early days!!!
That’s a huge compliment, I love Kurt. Thanks a lot 😁
Kurt Caz is very talented and nice guy.
Yeah this guys as soft as putty, beats me why he thinks he’s able to advise people when he constantly gets sucked in.
Kurt Caz is cool, but this man is Michael Maams. I like this guy’s content.
These touts are aggressive. They ruin the whole experience
You have a lot of patience. I would have told them to get lost
Very hot & stressful . These guys follow you the entire time.
All the scams really hurt the legitimate businessmen who have set up shop there and never see any actual costomer tourists because the scammers have already made sure they never even go that way. the man at the very beginning was either a legitimate guide who was extremely pushy or he was a scammer posing as a guide.
It was exhausting seeing you trying to enjoy ur trip to these beautiful pyramids! You didn’t get anytime long enough to really see them without the hustlers bugging you
I truly would like to believe the owners or caretakers of the camels looks after them. But seeing lots of videos about camel ride around the pyramids it's literally breaks my heart. Seen horse been whipped too with visible scars .It's sad and make me wonder how badly these innocent animals exploited 😢
The Pharaoh's would be disgusted at what has become of the people and its lands...
Yeah I'm good not seeing them in person lol but good on you for that trip!!
*23:00** I really wanted to go there next months... now I want to STAY IN EUROPE !!! Don't want to be annoyed every 10 meters...*
قسم بالله قرفت وانا اشوف المقطعع محد ياخذ راحته ابدااا نصب في نصب شي يقرف اتمنى الدوله تشوف حل لان ذا الوضع راح ينقل صوره سيئه لهم ومحد يجي
These people are bad for the country the government should step in😢
Thank God, that you got Good mindset and you can read people very well.
Oh that taxi driver was cunning and clever.
Good you went out from the car and walk,
I will take my time out to watch full video
great video , i was at the pyramids last Thursday , same thing happened to me
Yeah, you gotta watch out when you’re there. Hope you got a decent price 👍
@@michaelmaams7103 no , the dude on the horse carriage told me 150 pounds , and then changed his price at the far end of the desert , I made a vid about it will upload soon
Yeah, that’s a common scam they run. Thanks for the comment
Visiting the pyramids in 2 weeks, thanks for sharing this video!
No problem, hope you enjoy your time there 👍
How was the trip Robbin? Did you experience the same with the hustlers?
@@novlogs8957 amazing place, less hustlers but still some people trying over and over again even when you ask them to stop. One of these camel riders kept following us pyramid to pyramid even blocking our road lol
Was the trip worth it Robbin what other places did you go was looking into as well
@@jdog4usmc1 Definitely worth it a dream come true. We stayed in hurgada took a flight to cairo for the day and visit the pyramids and the museum of cairo. Was able to see alot of the city by uber since everything is so far apart. Tip is to always use uber there where times we took a taxi but then at arrival they change prices. Back at hurgada we took a bus day trip to luxor to the falley of the kings, the temple, stairs and museum. Wish we had more time there tho🙏🏻
these scammers at the plateau try their best to make it look to onlookers that he is your guide and that you approve of what he is doing.
if you did a 180 degree turn and walked the other direction he is walking or stopped and raised your hands to signal that you are being
bothered against your will then you will see him running away from you!.....the deal these scammers have with the tourist police is that
they can negotiate with tourists but only on friendly terms, so many of them will laugh out loud to signal a friendly conversation when in
fact he is trying to scam you.
You make me laugh. When you said to the guy. Can you take me a picture for free. Haha. They charge you even for shot.
They charge you for everything! 😂
We are visiting Egypt in Jan. Your video helps a lot. We like travel on our own. THose hackler really annoying. why do they get their lesson it is waste of their time to chase people like that? It will win them 0 business.
I’ve subbed your great 👍
The only person I feel bad for is the little girl. I would give her some money but the rest of those people can take a hike. I wouldn’t put up with them.
The "free" gifts is an agreement entering you into an obligation to return the "favour" with cash. If you go there, remember that. "Ohhhhhh you are hot.... Have a hat, it's free because you are my good friend. Now we are good friends......... I need some cash.
Man after watching your video I would get anxiety in Egupt with all the hustlers and scammers I dont think I will ever go to Egypt after watching your video 😅
I went to the pyramids in 2000 and was very underwhelmed. Prior to the terrible current war in Sudan I visited the pyramids and tombs of that country and the experience was infinitely better.
I feel sorry for the camels 😢 I don’t see water nowhere for them
No there was no water for the camels. Some of the camels are very skinny, & this heat doesn't help , what makes it worse .they have blankets on top of them for the people. Really upsetting when those camels are running bcs they have trouble breathing.😢😢
If you dare to, search on You Tube for 'mistreatment of camels in Egypt' - it's nasty, very nasty, and will make you see Egypt in a different light.
Camels are used to such things
A camel can go weeks without drinking water
I wouldn’t walk on the road after dissing Zachariah the motorist. You need your legs, right?😂
Standard line “You look like Egyptian” 🤣
You're very patient. I know how awful it is by 17 years of visits. Lol. Did you know that habibi means my love? If you go again and they pester you, tell them, "imshee 🤣🤣🤣
I do believe there are nice people in Egypt, but those people near the pyramid are disgusting they ruin the whole experience for the tourist. I've watched like a dozen videos of that on youtube and all have the same experience. Yes I do understand the people want to make a living and are hustling but so are the people in other parts of the world at tourist sites but Egypt is the worst
I am watching a playlist of these scammer videos and the lowest price one dude got offered 1h of a horse ride for 20 EGP! Normal price is 50 for 1h. I read comment below and people are scammed for 1600EGP!!! I guess a sucker is born every minute. But people please get them out of business the animals and kids are abused!
Man bro that cute little girl tho ❤🙏🏽 bless you for that 💯
My temper would be tested to the limits there, thank you for sharing this I will not go thus end up in an Egyptian jail
I really wanna come here, but I genuinely don’t think I have the patience for this. Like I just wanna put my head phones on and go for a walk without having to be disturbed
That Camel is probably as old as the Pyramids
😂
Just take it in as part of the whole experience, don't feel obligated to answer everyone trying to sell you something or asking for money, just politely decline and keep walking. You'll often run into kids like that girl, so if you do need something try and buy from them, they are out of school and have no option other than to work (the cost of goods is very cheap when you convert dollars to local currency). Egypt is the most historical place on earth and a great country to visit.
This my third video on Egypt and it's funny how they never give in, the horse, the carriage the camel 🐫 the bargain it's damn entertaining.
That's too much, I just disgusted, never like that in my country 😎
This was painful and stressful to watch. The taxi kept pestering snd 2nd man wouldnt leave and kept repeating
if someone speak to yo first, just ignore him, of just smile, keep moving forward, don't say anything... thats the key
nice vid bud,,just subbed..
Thanks, appreciate it 😁
"Oh look, there they are."
I love that.
Why would you pay before he gave you the tour and took your picture? That is 0 street smarts.
You're a good man, sir. Thanks for giving these poor kids some money and being delicate about it.
I feel bad for the camels. It's seems like their in pain when they have to bend down
omg I wanted to go to the pyramids, and wow it looks like when I was in Cartagena! it's sooooo annoying!!!!! I have no temper for this, this is sad the officials allow for this to happen
Wear earphones and ignore them
150 is too much for 30 minutes you should not pay more than 40 to 50 pounds even for a tourist.
Egyptian scam 😂😂
"PLEASE STOP FOLLOWING ME" should've been said you're too patient lol
At least they’re nice people, they won’t rob you.
Definitely. I felt very safe all over Egypt.
That little girl is gonna take that money back to her parents.
I’ve come to realize “special price just for you” Is not a good thing 😂
I’ve been on a camel in the Desert it’s a lot worse lol it was so uncomfortable
You are there to enjoy the vacation..but instead they make you work as a trader 😂
You should only go there in an organized manner. Group travel.
So that all the tourists are together and you have a guide from Europe.
I would also like to do it all myself, but when I see this, I lose the desire to do so.
great video... I got all this to look forward to when I go next month.. poor kid... how much money did you give her.?
Yep, it’ll be a lot of fun haha. I gave her the equivalent of just around 10 USD I believe. Just be careful, because they usually work for someone and give them all the money. It’s a sad life indeed
@@michaelmaams7103 I was thinking you could pay her just to follow you around all day and she will keep all the other beggars off you lol
It's a complete nightmare, I don't understand why the Egyptian government left all those scammers around. It's damaging so much for the reputation and business.
He thought he had you when you went to get the ticket.
I’d cuss them out by now. So rude
They have no buisness and no authority to ask for your ticket ! They´re preying on tourists at the beginning of the planked walks and as soon you hand out your ticket to them they feel entitled to be your tour guide...tell them get lost immediately
It’s one after another, after another. Honestly the hassle just to visit is outrageous
انا زعلان من كلام الناس في التعليقات و يتقطع قلبي لما يقولون لن نزور مصر عيب عليكم سياحة بلدكم هاذي حكومة مصر اعملوا حل للموضوع هاذا .
U got more patience then me I would have shouted at that guy in the begining
7:00 it's like talking to a wall, isn't it? 🙂
This is really sad to see especially when they have rich history. The country has not developed at all. 😢😢
They are so annoying it’s unreal, won’t let a dude walk alone
Never again Egypt 😡
Tell the whole world 🌎 don't visit this scammed country
@@javeedkattemane you probably did the same as the CZcamsr, too much Bol Bol talking and giving every person you time and attention, hence why you sadly a bad experience.
Egypt is not safe that is why I haven't visited it since 2013... 11 years ago...
والله قد نصبوا علي انا وخويي قبل كم سنة ودفعونا ١٠ اضعاف السعر الطبيعي.. ومن وقتها كرهت الروحة للاهرامات ومعد أثق في اي احد هناك
