How high can Wrexham go? Let us know in the comments below!
Back in 1994 Glasgow Celtic were bought by a Wealthy Canadian and we have not looked back since. God bless you Fergus McCann. Incidentally Wrexham just won 3-1 today to seal the title.
Really? Never knew about that, not something that would've gotten much air play here. Ryan Reynolds, otoh, knows a thing or two about promoting stuff on social media. The guy is a genius at it.
Will look up your Canadian guy now. Thanks.
❤
still remember them beating Arsenal in the FA Cup way back in the early 90s.. that freekick! wow!
Truly a magnificent story and not much of a football fan as I used too but what a story, some how I'm invested into their journey because of how genuine the new owners are.
Lifelong Man u supporter is now a Wrexham supporte as well
This is the best story in football ever,
I absolutely love it👍👍
Careful there lad, should Wrexham make it to the EPL alongside Man U you will have a dilemma on your hands, and that shit is nasty! I once got dilemma in my eyes.
We all love a fairy tail and as a Man U Supporter i can happily say if they make it to the PL and win it i wouldnt begrudge it, its a fairytail, like licester all them years ago, it was a fairy tail, love em or hate em, you was secretly routing for tighty whiteys on tv
@@krashd yes haha
@@AnIdiotAboard_ its great that football can still bring joy,
Leagues 1 and 2 are no joke. It only gets harder from here. I'd love to see them in the Championship before the end of the decade
Rob wasnt just a tv actor for hire...he cocreated, wrote and produced iasip, which is the longest running live action comedy every.
Great story. Still, let's not forget that it was Rob who envisioned all of this!
True, however he couldn’t have done it without Ryan’s money and fame.
@@mrjordantime rob is famous and plenty wealthy, it’s always Sunny in Philadelphia has been running with new seasons for almost 20 seasons now. He simply needed someone with an even higher net worth to cover the eventual marketing costs.
@@PDC1987rob. is not famous... 99% only know him after Wrexham takover
@@zochiang rob is very famous in America, he's just not as international famous as Ryan.
Genuine story about genuine owners! I love it
Correction: they are no longer eligible to play in the Welsh Cup. That has been the case for many years, same as Cardiff Swansea, etc.
Ignorant Canadian here why is that the case?
@@C8mon only clubs playing in the Welsh football league can play in it the welsh cup, wrexham cardiff and swansea play in English league's
@@Blazearff11 that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Just because they actually have the money and talent to play in English football doesn’t mean they should be punished for it.
@@juulianhilser2563 they play in english cup competitions like the FA Cup, the FA Trophy (a cup for lower tier teams) and next year in the league cup. so that's already a lot of games and these competitions are more important (and bring more money), soit isn't really a punishment. other welsh teams would barely have a chance of ever winning the welsh cup if the top 4 teams play there as well.
@@juulianhilser2563 as the person above said, it's no punishment; it actually protects the semi-professional clubs of the Welsh league system from being bulldozed in these domestic competitions. The "big" Welsh clubs competing in the English leagues are doing well enough
Reynolds is a decent actor, but he really seems to be a savvy businessman. He realizes, he has the Hollywood level media attention to drive shirt sales and interest stories like the documentary. Formula One really didn't need Drive to Survive because it always had a worldwide fanbase, but man, that netflix series did so much to increase that fanbase among young people. And they're buying merch, driving social media interest and hyping the sport up even more. Reynolds really seems to get this dynamic.
more than that, they are poised to be the hipster/happy football club option for curious americans. The american market is immense (especially by welsh standards/bottom EFL standards) and they'd have a distinctly different market proposition from the usual superbig brands in football. It almost feels like, you can root for a champions league caliber team (where victory or defeat are the only thing) and you can also root for the smaller team where football is joy, and those are your lads. In that sense, there are just a handful of names that can market this proposition better than Ryan Reynolds to a huge audience
Ryan Reynolds is a savvy businessman and plays social media like a master. So far everything he touches turns to gold, may it continue to be so.
this channel is gold
Interesting. Looking forward to learn more in the future.
Promotion in the air. Come on Wrexham.
"they are friends now" oh no, they are brothers
They got promoted! ;O)-
good video. keep up
Rob had the finances to buy Wrexham - I'd say that so far it's cost them absolutely nothing to buy the club. They've got lucrative sponsorships, worldwide shirt sales, tv docs - the full Hollywood money making machine behind them. It pays for itself.
Pretty smart when you think of it like that..
yep, and if this momentum and wealth machine is used correctly, the crazy idea of reaching the premier league is possible
pretty sure they are making some good money with the tv show... next year they will do even more
yeah it looks like he didn't need Reynolds purely for the straight up buy out of £2/£2,5 million...but more for the juggernaut of PR that is Ryan Reynolds....I mean he's not a producer, not the very best actor (I mean from a serious acting perspective, I love most of his work to be clear), but he is by now worth several hundreds of million dollars and that's mostly because of his ventures outside Hollywood which he leverages very well (Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile etc.).
lol really nothing? if it cost them nothing , i bet you can buy a club even lower than their division.
if it cost nothing then everybody would have a club of their own. idiotic approach from you. do you drink cow urine or what? maybe youve got a cow brain😂😂😂😂😂😂
hahahah 5:19, i had the same problem, always check the video before exporting.
Ryan is amazing. He not only saved the club he saved a community. Everyone in town from stores to bars to restaurants are going to benefit from it. Well done Ryan
Don't forget Rob, Rob was the one who came up with the idea and convinced Ryan in the first place 👍
@@billythedreamer Agree. the two have been tremendous but its Ryans marketing savvy that really kicked it up a notch
It’s always sunny is leagues better than anything Ryan has done. But I do respect the work Ryan is doing
THEY WON WE GO UP ,WE GO UP 😁😁
And now they've been promoted :)
What would i do if I could?
Get 2 upcoming but still young and morally ambitious players per area of play. Two defenders, 2 middle and 2 forwards. Get them to commit to the team by promising glory and fame, not just money, also give them the opportunity to become the best they can be, and in 4 years they'll be playing premier league, by the fiftht they be playing champions league or Europa league at least.
Get some hungry players, latin, african and us born.
Create a legend!
The fact they can use their career to gain celebrity status. By being in Welcome to Wrexham doesn't hurt either...
If they somehow get Wrexham to the premier leagues they'd be hailed as legends in Wales
there'd be statues :D
Was it ever done? Is it really possible? As I understand primer leagues is the best in the world with the best players and managers, the owners are multibillionaires. Imagine what would you need to compete. That would have been a great story. I wish them to achieve their dream.
*rolls eyes in Hwlffordd*
resentment is difficult
@@jesipohl6717 most of my ire and disgust is reserved for actual English Prem teams, because for decades their owners & sponsors have been involved in vile schemes.
So no, Wrecsam don't bother me on that level. Theirs is just a run of the mill Cinderella story. Am happy for them and say good luck to them. All that's annoying me is that thanks to their sudden newfound fame the algorithm puts them all over my sidebar 24/7. I feel a bit bombarbed by Wrecsam prop.
So why the question in the title? You didn't give us any information we didn't already know. Why not just say a rehash of everything that's happened at Wrexham?
You described Wrexham as “A SMALL town in north Wales”. Small? It is now a city and was the largest town in North Wales.
Nicholas, this is YT content, not the BBC news, just chill.
Away numbers are amazing
"The town is ranked as the List of urban areas in Wales by population, however its urban area is the 4th largest, after Cardiff, Swansea and Newport."
largest in north wales doesn't mean that much, compare that to manchester or liverpool, which aren't far away, it is very small. all depends on your perspective.
For the story mate. That's all.
whats a wrexham?
Someone explain how many points more they need to get promotion.
As of today, they need 6 points from their last 3 games (assuming Notts County don’t drop any points) - they could achieve this with wins in games at home this Tuesday evening and next Saturday, otherwise the last match is the following Saturday, away at Torquay.
To expand on what Arwelp said above they basically only need 2 wins from their last three games. Whatever order.
they need more points than any other team in the league. that's it.
As of now 3
They won Yesterday 3-0, now they Need only a win in the next two games. It's like 99% sure they Will go up
We want Wrexham to change their name to Southampton FC, keep everyone, even those who hopefully resign new contracts....
Its a pump and dump. Like how Ryan did with Mint mobile. He will take them upto league 1 or the championship at most within 10 years. And then sell them for a 100 million. They aren't putting in as much money since they do generate a good amount money for a 5th tier team.
Very cynical. A pump and dump scheme is an illegal scheme to boost a stock's or security's price based on false, misleading, or greatly exaggerated statements.
Wrexham's finances are as transparent as you can get and far more open than most business'.
So what if they sell for £100,000,000 in ten years? They're created jobs, boosted the town's economy and created civic pride. They've already invested nearly £3,000,000 of their own money to do this. What have you put in? What? £0 ?! Moron.
The guy is an investor... football in the UK offers an opportunity to build a small club up to something global... with a fraction of the investment... simply because of how the leagues are structured. In North America... if your endgame is to own a professional sports team... your only option is to fork over the gajillion dollars.
I don't think Reynolds will be in the owners box at age 80... but who is to say that he can't profit... along with the club and the town simultaneously... which seems to be the case presently. They could end up being a hugely marketable name in the sports world... which draws all manner of revenue. They could be ManU or Chelsea in a decade as you mentioned... and unless he sells the eam to a Bond villain with asperations of world domination... I don't see the issue.
"Pump & Dump" implies that he would be the only one to benefit here.
it's a bit early to say what happens, but the investments are not comparable. nobody would ever expect an investor to be emotionally invested in a company like mint mobile. whether they sell it or not remains to be seen and even if, that doesn't mean it has to be a bad thing, depends on who they sell it to. if they find someone who has longterm plans for the team, what's the problem? if you expect to see owners who treat it like a charity, you are delusional, that doesn't work in modern football
Ryan said he want to see Wrexham play in pl.. until that happens i doubt he would sell.. but if good offers come why not..
Notts County fan are you 😂😂😂😂
never heard about Rob before Wrexham take over
