      THIS!!! TNVC or USNV or some of the other big names; who knows what tube this thing is actually using. a lot of these off-brand never-heard-of guys buy lower end batches of tubes that other places wouldn't touch, for a discount, then just undercut the bigger names by a hundred bucks or so. They never list tube specs from wherever you are buying; for example, is it even an elbit XLS or L3/Harris? If they can't tell you, then I wouldn't touch that seller with a 90 foot pole.

      @fluffyrider9467 Před 2 lety

      @@Munky332 The tubes are Elbit (photonis for gen 2) and are assembled in Texas for Optics Planet. Even the high end stuff is still a lower end batch because the best of the best goes to the military and that info is from a guy that works for TNVC and WPS. The specs and everything are in the description of the product and for a little more they will even hand select one with higher that min standards. Basically paying extra for a unicorn.

    I ordered an AGM Global PVS-14 with gen 3 tube from Optics Planet. They said it would be 2 months for delivery and offered to substitute a Trybe PVS-14 which ended up taking 2 months for delivery. The tube has many spots that look like water spots and although it's usable, it's distracting. I'm rather disappointed at the number of defects in the intensifier. Be warned...

    • @c762x39
      @c762x39 Před 3 lety

      Unfortunately, because of the manufacturing process not all tubes are alike. You needed to pay extra for the “hand select” to choose one with the least amount of artifacts/blemishes on the tubes. All other vendors have the situation and offer the same hand-select service.

    They offer dual tubes now for a bit of a price jump. They look like PVS-31's and the green phos goes for $4,500 and white phos for $5,500... To be fair, they do state on OpticsPlanet that they use Elbit tubes, but they're tubes that did not pass DoD criteria for whatever reason. In other words, they probably will have some spots or minor scratches. In my personal experience, I've used NVG's that have had some really beat to crap tubes in them and it just doesn't bother me much personally, obviously that preference will vary for other individuals. Not saying that they'll send you tubes that have been to hell and back, just saying, they are being fair and stating these are rejected tubes for whatever reason. That being said, I think I'm going to try them out and just see how it goes since I already have a nice set from TNVC.
