  • Video recorded through monocular does not come in as clear as it would be if you looked through the monocular directly. Keep that in mind, much cleaner and sharper in real life looking directly through it, but this video gives you an impression close to it.

    • @StarOasis26
      @StarOasis26  Před 2 lety +3

      Good question. No .. If you get the auto gate option it will automatically lower the tube by shutting it down. So you have a bit of time to turn it off manually. Please use your objective lens cover whenever you can so you preserve the tube.

    Really helpful video. It would be very cool to see this NV technology (Gen 3 USNV PVS-14A features a manual gain) vs Thermal (Microbolometer sensor 12μm 384x288). The main reason is to see what happens when you walk towards the forest then stand behind the bushes like your waiting to ambush somebody. I feel the Thermal will clearly identify this situation where the image intensifier won't.

    • @StarOasis26
      @StarOasis26  Před 2 lety +2

      Cool, here's a video PVS 14 vs thermal. yes you can see through the bushes. I decided to go with the PVS 14 because you can specifically identify people. If you haven't seen it here's a video comparing both.

    What's it like when using this with both eyes open? Does it just kinda blend the two images together like when looking through a rifle scope? Always wondering what it looks like when using a monocular over one eye.

    • @StarOasis26
      @StarOasis26  Před 2 lety +1

      It's a bit different when looking through with both eyes open because you're looking into the dark, so you can't see out of one of them.

    • @charlieghague
      @charlieghague Před 2 lety

      @@StarOasis26 Ya I was thinking about that after I wrote the comment. I guess it depends how much ambient light there is too. If it's really dark I'd imagine it's similar to having one eye closed and you'd just see a circle of light from the monocular over the aided eye. But more well lit areas may mess with that once your unaided eye starts picking up more environmental light.

      You don't have to spend that much. You can get a level 2 which may have a spot or two in the tube preferably not in Zone 1 which means the spot will not be in the middle of the sight and somewhere on the side. Or you can go with Gen 2 and that will lower the price even more. Go to Night Vision Universe website and message the guy, he gives a price break as well. Hope that helps.

      Thermal has a delay, NODs don't. Thermal can't see through 95%+ of transparent objects, NODs can. Thermal has a really short battery life, NODs don't. You can't navigate on foot as easily with thermals as you can with NODs. You can't pick up IR with thermals. Thermal is a perk you add with NODs or you're literally going to be sitting in one spot waiting for a stationary target. It's only purpose is detection.
