i was having trouble with all my small engines but i got smart lol i put fuel shut off on all my small engines and run them out of gas, when i put them up for long periods of time, i been doing this for 7 years now and not once had to replace any gaskets or O rings in the carburetors keep up the good work i do alittle farming here and there with family in the fall running grain cart

I love watching your channel. I’m originally from Hillsboro ND, 40 miles north of Fargo, currently living in Southern California. I get home quite often to visit my oldest brother, who has ALS. He was working for a large farmer in our home town and was unable to complete harvesting due to his health. They raised corn, beans and some wheat. This was very heartbreaking for my brother as this was his favorite job and his bosses and kids treated him as family. I would sometime love to come and checkout your operation, either planting or harvesting. Also, congratulations on over 200k viewers. Keep up the good work

Nice!!!! Auto doors to unload!! When I helped my friends out on there farm outside of Mcclusky ND there trailers was hand cranked. Same with the tarp. Todd did say next he was going to get all his trailers switched over to electric tarp and doors.

Fantastic equipment. Nothing like that in our part of the country. I get to travel through the Midwest a couple times a year, and it's always a treat to see the big operations.

We could use auto shut off. Most of the 1,200 acres we like this year are 1 to 2 miles long rows so there are not that many end rows to manage. It takes many bushels at 3.60 to trade up. Thanks for the information on turning corn into fuel. Often I see unit trains of ethanol being delivered to our local Valero refinery. Also I see many trucks of DGS being delivered to the Animal feeders around here from the few ethanol plants around here. Your ethanol and corn must be heading to West Texas.

I know I'm late to the party, but I just wanted to say my Lightning (supercharged F150) runs great on E85. I had to install bigger injectors and higher flow fuel pumps, but with the ability to increase boost and timing, the added octane makes for huge horsepower gains without having to buy race gas at $7 or more per gallon. I have no problems passing emissions testing, and as long as I can find fuel, it will drive anywhere. I get that range anxiety though!

Around may 2-4 we got about 6" of rain flooded a lot of fields thought I would have to replant a lot of corn... we also had all the beans in... it finally dried out and I post sprayed corn and patches in wet holes corn and beans both and we got another 4 inches a day later now we're flooded again ... rolling ground looks good flat black gumbo is pretty soggy hopefully water goes down fast enough corn survives

Ed, It is a town near the Iowa border. There is a Blue Earth County where Mankato Mn is located.The best ground that I have ever seen is around Wells Mn. It shines blue with richness!

Ethanol is awesome. It keeps gas prices low and affordable for us. One thing people don't realize is that most of it is corn that would be used for animal feed anyway. Instead, it can be converted into fuel, AND it still produces distiller's grain which is then used for animal feed. So you still get a high quality, high protein animal feed, PLUS a homegrown fuel that keeps fuel prices low for Americans. It's the best of both worlds.

can someone explain me the whole working cycle of corn growing? im from europe and everybody here only grows grain like wheat, barley etc. with the whole cycle, i mean, all from ploughing, to harvesting, when you spray and what you spray etc.

Allen Yule There are some bit typically they're about the same price. There is a poultry mill an hour away that has been good.

mataiterapreha We have just been spraying soybeans pre-emerge. Usually Beans get a second pass in a month and then a pass in early August for aphids.

Half way through the video I notice you don't have a seatbelt on. Many farmers I know do the same thing of not wearing one. Is it because the tractors doesn't have one inside, you don't get used to put it on, or is it to save 2 seconds of putting it on and off when entering and leaving the vehicle?
Great vid btw, helps me alot now that I will become a farmer student myself in the start of next year, unfortunatly not on American level with several machines on one field or anything in that size for that matter, would love to join in on that kind of fun!
My understanding of the ethanol Issue. Most corn production is for animal feed, ethanol production uses corn to produce ethanol with a byproduct of animal feed. I don't see the down side myself.

You are 100# correct pertaining to the fact that oil companies do like ethanol for the reason you stated. Take it from me. Worked in the Oil&Gas industry in my past 2 careers. Now all I want to do is live and work on a "Christian Family Farm" that has a farm large enough that can keep me busy year around. That's what I emailed you about. I have no kids wife deceased.

Do you ever have parts of the field emerge slower than others? What do you think causes it?
TwoHappyChildrenFarm Yes. I think it has a lot to do with soil temperature and moisture. A lot of times around here the low areas are slower to come up and I think it's because after the rains the soil in those areas stays colder for longer.

Our Ethanol plant Is called CIE....Plus the Ethanol plant makes DDG that farmers mix it for cattle feed ..
another argument against cornethanol is that the ground used for its production could also be used to grow food for humans... i think thats a good point...

I have heard that one down side of ethanol is that there is a lot of government subsidy. As a conservative that is obviously a down side but once the industry takes off it wouldn't need government subsidy right? Thanks for the video
Alex Kansas They dropped all government subsidies on ethanol several years ago now. There are no longer any subsidies for it. The same can't be said for oil...

Ethanol is not shelf stable for atorage and does ruin parts in carburetors. It is also hydrophilic, not good for burnining. Also, it is government subsidized. If it was not for that, it would cost more than gasoline.
I know you get a better price on fuel because you buy in bulk but do you get a better deal because you grow corn?
CNTSLES fabrication not on anything that's for "on highway" use. The diesel for the tractors is not taxed and its dyed red so we can't run it in anything else or we will get nailed with huge fines. We have a separate barrel for the trucks because they are "on highway"
also, the leftover feed additive argument can be achieved by deregulation the liquor industry....BTW, I'm a huge fan of yours....just not government mandates on fuel....or anything else really

People have problems with e85 cuz it's 106 octane... that's why the race cars run so good on it. Now quit doin your rain dance so we can get some stuff done 😂
Vaneps0...10% ethanol is great at raising the octane rating but its BTU content is 87K compared to gasoline with its 120K so the mileage sucks even with the added octane which allows for more compression to be used. Ethanol replaces MTBT which was found to be a carcinogenic as Tetraethyllead was also outlawed. Ethanol is very good choice for health reasons.

key reasons for the growth in ethanol production has been government subsidies for ethanol. Ethanol producers received generous subsidies of 45 cents per gallon which when added to current prices put E gas above petroleum gas. The evidence shows that corn ethanol is not competitive, and is not becoming competitive - and it's impacting food costs. estimated that ethanol contributes as much as 15 percent to the recent rises in food costs. 's time to consign ethanol subsidies - both direct and indirect - to the ash heap of history. E gas is a less energy pact fuel; 1/3 less than petroleum. Fouls plugs, eats gaskets, lean seizures, destroy 2-stokes, ruin sensors the mechanical issues with our fleet goes on. It was investment but know insight fuel point using non-E gas saves us 10s of thousand a month in repairs and mileage has dramatically better
Al Reis well, there are no current subsidies, and there haven't been since 2012. Roughly 60% of the corn is left as a high quality feed after it's processed, most people are not aware of that. I dont believe its contributing much to the rising cost of food in the U.S, which by the way is some of the most affordable food on the planet when compared to other countries. It's alsp home grown and renewable, which is better for domestic energy security and the environment. It also allows the oil companies to use a cheaper grade of oil and blame any problems on the addition of ethanol, which is where most of the negativity surrounding ethanol comes from.
@@MillennialFarmer I think the majority of ethonol negativity came from its initial introduction. Pure gas can and was stored with quite a bit of water. Mixing of water, ethonol and gas is complex but suffice it to say, a small amount of water is not a problem. Large amounts of water, however, absorb the ethanol out of the mix leaving the lower octane gas that at best burns poorly and at worst ruins engines due to pre-ignition.
The water in gas storage is pretty well gone now but the bad reputation remains.
Today's sealed auto fuel systems actually benefit from the ethonol. Any small amoun of free water is mixed and burned.
One notible exception is the marine environment where free water is so prevalent as to be likely to absorb the ethanol and leave the low octane base fuel.
No Pokerface???? Boy, we got shut out of the field on Friday with heavy showers, Saturday gave us more, overnight coming into Sunday we got storms. I've got some replanting to do, I'm afraid. But, that's farming....

I live 7 mi East of the farm. We got a generous amount of rain at the house. The farm got a deluge. The runoff from fields higher uphill and ACROSS the road came down and took about 1 1/2 inches of soil away from my beans ( glad I went min. till) and you can see the rows, only they hadn't pushed through. I've put in spacious waterways, but, geez, this was beyond that. It's only about a quarter acre, but still, wow!

MN Millennial Farmer we had a guy come to one of local tracks and he was running 100% ethenol and it was terrible idk if it was the tuning or what but incredibily rich at idle way worse than a methanol car. hows the season going for ya

Ethanol is very corrosive and eats rubber hoses gaskets etc. Thankfully here in NYS, there are more and more stations offering ethanol free fuel.
I'll agree about ethanol being rough on rubber components. I still use gas tractors and they have NO rubber in the fuel system. They like it just fine and when gas gets to 4 bucks I like it just fine.
