On this car you will find the intake manifold with Runners which will divert the air accordingly in order to get better efficiency and a maximum boost from the turbo . The also called Swirl Flaps, therefore, are a very important component which once it fails , the engine might run very rough or even won't start at all ( if the runners got stuck in a close position )
engine : om646

Thank you so much for making this video. I would not have the courage to do this job without you.
thanks so much for these videos!, they truely increase my confidence levels to fix my car.
Wspaniały materiał , opis jasny i rzeczowy. pozdrawiam
Excellent video! Good job and very well explained. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank man, this was very useful!
Yep! Perfect tutorial! Thanks for doing this !
Thank you, for good video!!! more video with mercedes, interested how to change the chain at this engine.
Nice video as always
Thanks!
I hope it is the same procedure on my W210 320 CDI, thanks for taking the time to make this video
It's the same
Great work. Thank you.
Vídeos muito esclarecedores, demonstrando o seu profissionalismo, Obrigado.
Very good video, but what is the torqe on the intake manifold bolts
Thank you
MERCI beaucoup
Very intimidating. I don't think I will ever be able to do this type of work. I can't remember how to put everything back together and I am too afraid of breaking anything there !
Very good video explaining how to do multiple things . I just got an W211 , after many hesitations but i’m not sorry now. It has 600.000 km and i need to get my hands dirty in order to keep it running for some time.
600 k , thats a nice veteran , congrats!
Yeah, i know it’s old but I really like the model and the car looks pretty good with all the maintenance done at Mercedes
Thanks 👍🙏
nice videos, thank you
You're welcome
Thank you, OM646 is almost nonexistent on YT
Its an Om611 tho.
@@Kuikuuu that's right, the om611 is the one shown in the video whereas the om646 has a different shape engine cover and other things too
Thanks
Super video
The intake manifold must also be removed to replace the engine oil cooler
Yes sadly enough. Much work for getting to the oil cooler
Thank you very much for the video and explanation, am having a problem with the small motor for the flaps( my apologies I don't know the teachnical name). When I put the ignition on it makes a weird noise, even when start the engine, it keeps on making the noise. When I switch the engine off it makes the weird noise for a few seconds then it stops.
Once again thanks a lot for the video I know what to expect while dismounting it. Cheers.
first is worth checking if the sounds come indeed from the intake runner control valve . Than test it . It's normal to be energized before the start up but while the engine is idling it should not be energized , so check for power at that moment at the connector .
heeey i have that problem too, and when i am accelerate i dont have boost over 2300 rpms!
12:12 what is the torque specification for that? 16NM?
Can
You show about exhaust manifold?
Hi, what is the cause of the oil leak under the thermostat of 8:00 minute ?
yes!
Man could the engine stop when accelerating a bit because of the sensor of the oil pressure? I think i didnt put some sensors under the engine and my engine stops now lol
My friend, first of all great video. Now, I have removed the swirl flaps and cover the top holes with bolts, all tide and nicely, but a got code P1189, some said that putting a 4.7K resistor on the connector plug of the swirl motor will cheat the ECU. How can I do this if it's 3 cables plug, brown red and a kind of grey?
Im not sure i understood you . But you need the keep on the motor what moves the flaps . and you need to find a place for it where it can mooves freely .
Just keep flap motor connected 👍
0:51 why did you cut intake hose?
Very nice video. I'm experiencing some black smoke myself with my om611 when I start accelerating from a standstill. No error codes, cleaned up the egr last year but the smoke is still present. I feel like one (or more) of my swirl flaps have clogged up since I literally checked everything else and it's fine. I want to hear your opinion. Cheers.
Did you figure it out ?
@@freemindas Yep. Swirl flaps were clogged up just as I thought. Just cleaned them up nicely and the car now runs silky smooth. Doesn't even feel like a diesel sometimes.
@@brunobegic3841 swirl flaps are located in the intake manifold right ?
@@freemindas yep
HEllo Master! I have now the same problem with my C200 (W203) elegance. I have let to replace the manifold 2 years ago once. It was very expensive. A new genuine manifold was 900 Euro. Now I have the same problem again. So engine is in safe mode now.
What I want to ask, if I do not repair and just keep it like it is, will this cause any further damage of the engine or something?
Take it out and clean it. It's diesel?
@@manbiteslife3110 yes, it is diesel!
This is harder than it looks , sadly i already removed many things to stop now hahah
How to prevent the intake manifold from clogging up other than long distance driving? I heard that driving the car high in revs doesn't affect the amount of carbon build up in the intake, and doesn't clean the intake. So what could prevent the intake from carbon build up?
Installing an oil catch can on the PCV system also the EGR valve should not be stuck open
❤❤❤❤❤
hello bro can u do a video how to remove crankcase on mercedez e220 w210 i need it so much i dont know how to remove it on my car its broken i need to fix it
crankcase for the oil its under the car
My m55 stays on, I left the engine on, it leaves it on, when I drive for a while it cancels, it gives error 2359-1, turbo, new pipes, new capteur, I couldn't find the new one, why does it cancel, there is no other error.
Can a clogged up intake manifold cause limp mode and the 3000 rpm problem on this engine? What are other causes of limp mode? And can you clean the intake manifold without removing it by using engine and oil additives for example?
Yes it does happen , the main problem is the carbon that blocks intake manifold flaps and that causes the limp mode , additives are not going to help if you do not remove the intake manifold and clean it manualy .
Yes the shut off motor does it.
👍👍👍
yea this is all ok but you didnt show us how to remove air from the diesel lines :D
I have problem.lost power engine can you help ?
There can be a lot of issues causing this .. impossible to guess
Is the process same with w211?
If it has the same engine , yes
Does anyone know the torque specs for intake bolts?
Did you find out?

I have done this Job with CZcams in back ground.. Tok me 5 hours😂😂😂
Good job 👏
I guess this applies to the w211 220cdi as well? Mine goes in limp on the motorway and loads of black smoke
I think this also applies to the w211. You also want to check the mass air flow sensor, the egr valve, Map sensor,.. turbo, intercooler hoses,..
Thank you
