@simonforrest2522 but he wasnt tho. Even kroos is arguably better. He already broke every pass record of xavi in laliga and the champions league. You could also say that busquets is barca's heartbeat or iniesta. Those 3 were all crucial for barca with each of them having their own important role to play. Iniesta was definitely the better footballer

For your question, Italians are indeed the masters of defending. Their defending style is known by the name "Catenaccio," which means "door-bolt," they always produced great defenders , some that you should react to besides the GOAT Maldini , there is Nesta , Baresi , Cannavaro , scirea ,Costacurta to name a few , there was a period in late 80s early 90s when Ac Milan had the greatest backline in history .and btw this video is not a matter of facts but just the opinion of the guy who made it , because nobody really argues against Maldini being either the greatest CB or Left-back although everyone appreciates Carlos as well .
Yes that 80's Milan backline was truly miserly and the cornerstone to their success in that period

In italy they used to play defensively back in the day so they have so many goat defenders
Italians "invented" a playing style called catenaccio (which means padlock) which is heavily based on shutting offenses down by outnumbering the attackers.
As someone that started watching football in the mid/late 80's i can solemnly swear that there are quite a few more honourable mentions than that 😅.. best ball playing CB ive ever seen is Ronald Koeman but only because i never saw Franz Beckenbauer (R.I.P) play.. but i agree that Baresi is the best CB ive seen.
I totally disagree with some of his choices, but I respect everyone's opinions.

Bro.. every top major country in europe has football league, and different football style.. let say.. England (UK) Has Premiere League and everyone called "Kick and Rush" because they style is full speed attack. Italian has "Serie A" and italy has known deffense style of football. Spanish has La liga and spanish known "good passer or tiki taka basicly". that's why, Spanian player has good pass, Italian is though of defender, and England is good with long pass.. and brazillian has known for skillfull football because football culture in their country is same as religion
Like always, the CDM position was overlooked to fit another into the more flashy CM position. This video did it even worse by putting Zidane as a CM despite him predominantly having played as a CAM. This ofc to squeeze both him and Maradonna into the team.
Cafu over Alves for me, Alves was incredible, but I would rather have the balance that Cafu offered, and he was the ultimate example of that balance, Id also take Maldini over Carlos, for similar reasons and a prime Ronaldinho over CR7, also would take a prime R9 over Pele, although I never saw Pele live so I am going off what I have seen of him

Maldini played a lot of his long career not as a cb, nesta also didn't always play at CB but he is there that he became famous really, and if he wasn't in the same team as maldini, a lot more people would argue for him being in the conversation for sure, also......there are so many players that are better than Ramos as CB is insane, i could list you soo many, the only thing (which is a great thing to have of course) that Ramos has that most other players that were better than him don't have, are the thropies.
Beckenbauer definitely has to be in the conversation, but once again, he was a CB, but a really weird one, and he also played tons of matches not as a CB at all, but of course he has to be in the conversation, he is the only other defender to have won a Balon D'Or besides Cannavaro.

Not really , he's not in the league of those legends , actually if you analyze Ramos's defensive career he's not better than Puyol , Terry , Cannavaro to name a few , His crucial goals put him in the conversation but not his defending , I mean his red card record alone is a legit argument to exclude him from the conversation

Centre backs are difficult. You cld put in alot of pairings. There’s Maldini, Pique, Ramos etc. It comes down to preference really. All of them have a case. For me tho my pairing is Maldini and Ramos (who is imo the best modern era 2-way centre back who can defend and score, plus aggression, physicality, pace, leadership and trophies to back it up etc.) All time list are never concrete. Bcoz u can make 10 diff lists with 110 diff players in the first XII. The funny thing about the list is that Cristiano genuinely cld go in both Left wing and Striker. People forget he played left wing in his first decade and striker in the next. His goals after 30yo alone is more than alot of Legends in all their career. Crazy to think about it.

Gigi Buffon was clearly the best Goalkeeper, yes he did not win a Ballon D'Or but that trophy is not a criteria for his skills in the net, he was that much better than the other goalkeepers. Also, how will he not put Maldini there, not even mention him as a center back? He mentions Nesta but not Maldini? one of the, if not the best center back of all time... Then he chooses Xavi for the midfield... He was world class but what about Sergio Busquets? He was far better than Xavi... I respect his other choices in the other positions but these? Hell nah lol
