Un grand corniste ! Magnifique ! Cela me console du décès d'Hermann Baumann le 29 décembre dernier. La relève est là ! Merci !

I really liked this interpretation of the piece. Reminded me of Dennis Brain's interpretation where at times it sounded almost playful and light.

Yes,exactly. His interpretation of 2.Strauss is for me the most beautiful .This lightness is incredible.

when the power of orchestra horns sounds the solist decrease . Zempleni sound is just for solist place, in FF he´s not powerfull

You know, you cant have it all... Anyway he has such great high and low register, brilliant technique and a beautiful sound. I think this is more than enough for a soloist.

Mate do you actually how demanding that concerto is?

The concerto isn't supposed to have the horn playing on top of the orchestra all the time. Some of it is "tutti" (play together or NOT solo). This makes some of this concerto sound like the horn is being playful along with the orchestra.

I also think, there is a difference in Soloist and orchestra solo horn. I personally don't like Stefan Dohrs Solo works that much, but I can't think of a better orchestra horn principal right now. The other way around is Zempleni. Wonderful light playing, excellent technique. I think this is more suited to solo works and chamber music. Other examples of "soloist horn sound" is maybe Baborak, Vlatkovic, Bruno Schneider? These are just my thoughts...

It's a concerto, meaning the soloist play with the orchestra, not against. Hope you've figured this out in the last 4 years.
