    A little explanation:
    1) Ciri is the direct decedent of the Elder Elves from ancient times, and so her blood is a massive reservoir of magic power. Those that try to use her blood in the wrong way will have it burn, blow up, or kill them
    2) Ciri can open portals and teleport herself and others to the other worlds ("the Spheres"), one of the "Spheres" is where most monsters come from (except the one's evil wizards made), and another Sphere(world) is where the soul reaping Wild Hunt (whom want to control all worlds, slaughtering any that stand in their way) come from...
    3) the Deathless Mother is a member of the Wild Hunt (basically they're akin the Horsemen of the Apocalypse)
    4) Ciri potentially has the power to save all races from a massive flash freeze apocalypse the "White Frost" by unleashing the power of life ("make to world reborn") after "the world dies",
some prophecies say she can or may destroy the world, another prophecy or believe she is the being that will save only the Elves and destroy their enemies as they're foretold living weapon powered by the Elder blood... Others think she's just a threat and want to kill her
    5) Only non-violence and lack of any anger or hate could weaken the Deathless Mother long enough for Yennifer to offer herself as vessel, her act of sacrifice of her soul is what returned her "chaos" back to Yeniifer for her to use magic again
    6) "the White Flame" the Emperor is Ciri's biological father, but he's a tyrant, and she will not want such a genocidal ruler try to control her

Hello! Fantastic last reaction! Don't know if you noticed, but there was a little hint about her father in this episode. During her 'dream' sequence they all turn to ash and fade away but HE doesn't! Looking forward to the next season, which is being filmed right now I believe. Also coming soon is a prequel series focusing on the first convergence and the first witcher!

Regarding your statement on how you sometimes get backlash from certain fandoms for not having the most in depth knowledge of certain stories, speaking for myself, that’s never a bother for me. To use Clone Wars as an example, you’ve freely admitted that you don’t possess the same wealth of knowledge as other Star Wars fans do, and sure, maybe you don’t catch every single tiny little detail, no, but that’s not why I watch your reactions to Clone Wars, or Doctor Who, or whatever. I watch your reactions for the fabulous reactions, as well as your insights in the post-episode thoughts. If certain people are genuinely bothered by your not knowing certain things about the lore, well, that’s on them not you. Your work is outstanding, regardless of how well versed you are in the lore. And I agree with you in that sometimes that does result in more rewarding reactions precisely because, unlike more knowledgeable fans you genuinely aren’t expecting somethings sometimes, and the reaction becomes so much more enjoyable.

I definitely agree. Honestly I feel like many of these reactions are better with a less deep knowledge of the lore, because it's not tainted by "but it didn't happen this way in the book", with shows like the Witcher. Or with Star Wars content there's none of the "they changed this from the Expanded Universe and it didn't meet my expectations" that affects a lot of us who are too deep in the lore (myself being one of those). It can just be received for what it is and generally is a more fun reaction to watch. Sometimes it even changes my perception of shows and I'm able to find more joy in them after some reactions by people like Jess who aren't as married to certain ideas about how shows "should" be and just takes what they are. It also lets the shows stand on their own and revelations come at the time the show runners want for the best dramatic emphasis.

I mean what drew me to this channel in the first place was that Sesska was new to Doctor who I loved this insight from someone who was not burdened with it being a part of their childhood discovering the show for the first time. It was wonderful

The Witcher Netflix channel on CZcams has some great videos and they talk about why they made some of the changes they did. I've read the books and while I wish a thing or two would have been kept, I understand this is the show-runner's vision of the Witcher. She's been in contact with the author often, and has Henry Cavill who insists on staying true to the feel of the story and the characters, so any changes are for the benefit of her vision or to change it from paper to the screen. For example, one reason we have the Deathless Mother (not in the books) is because the main book this season was based on is more character-driven and slower-paced. Not as many monsters or things like that and she knew she had some fans who come mainly to see the sword fights and the monsters, etc., so she had to change a few things so she could fit them into a cohesive story and still get everyone where they needed to be at the end of the season. That's why we don't have the "Dear.Friend" letters that are in the book (that I adore because they are perfect summation of Gerald and Yen's relationship, lol). Enjoy the journey the show-runner has set forth. Ignore any nay-sayers. I love the books, but I'm enjoying this for what it is, as well. You can do both.

I was waiting for the reveal that the White Flame was Ciri's dad. You didn't disappoint! :)
It's actually nice of you to say that about the fandom because I haven't read the Witcher books but was on Witcher subreddit when this show aired. Let's just say that they were NOT the most welcoming bunch of fans. Every single thing about this season was considered a problem.

any hard-core witcher fan will have and shud have huge issues with this season (because it took giant tangents away from the book and frankly replaces it with weaker stories and shafts some characters). HOWEVER anyone giving a fair judgement shud also point out the plus points of which there are quite a few and the overall reasonably enjoyable season. they shud also be aware that those without book or game knowledge won't have such issues and will probably enjoy the season a lot more. I think some ppl just aren't mature enough to be balanced

Don't worry too much about about book readers and their criticism. Books are an entirely different medium and what makes books good isn't what makes TV shows good. I tend to watch book adaptations before I read the books, then there are always fun surprises in store for me, the screen can only convey so much about inner dialogues, etc. Love your reaction as always! I always look forward to your videos! Take care!

Honestly, while the books are being utilized, things have been altered, added or combined for the series to the horror of some some hard core fans. The reveal of who the White Flame was happened near the end of the entire series of books. So don't beat yourself up over your lack of knowledge. And I completely support you wanting to be surprised as it all unfolds. I live for your reactions for that very reason and love you girl! Fans can be the best and sadly the worst. I've been entrenched in fandom for more than 40 years and I've met plenty of both. It's nothing new but with computers came message boards then chat rooms and the mind blowing growth of social media, instant gratification and the ability to lash out at people you disagree with or find lacking, with a swipe of their finger. Reactors need a suit of armor these days just to work their way through the comment section. I'm just endlessly and selfishly grateful that you take the hits and continue reacting! 💜

    What a terrific show!
Here are my end-of-season "stars of the show":
STAR: Francesca - a terrific performance by this largely unknown actress - she looked like she had been on TV for years, but she hasn't
STAR: Rience - "fire fucker", a true menace and great performance
STAR: Duny/Emir - more to come, I'm sure .. but he was great with what he had to work with
STAR: Cahir - lots more to do this series, and he was excellent
SUPERSTAR: Stregebor - this hateful wizard is played to perfection
SUPERSTAR: Yennefer - not a surprise. Brilliant actress; magic powers or not!
SUPERSTAR: Jaskier - how? Just how did they find this musician, who can also act amazingly well?
SUPERSTAR: Fringilla - that scene where she paralyses everbody and slowly kills them ...
SUPERSTAR: Vesimir - perfect casting in every way.
SUPERSTAR: Geralt - Henry Cavill - enough said
    MEGASTAR: Ciri
    How did they know?
When they cast Freya Allan at aged 16 as the runaway princess who just has to look scared all the time ... how did they know she would grow into an actress capable of season 2?
She basically covered ALL of acting superbly well - action, comedy, drama, being possessed. She did everything.
The only explanation I can offer is "family" - the fact that they deviated from the books to include most of the actors from season 1, with not a single recast. The show seems to be a nurturing environment - where Freya could be educated and encouraged by the superb actors around her,
Essentially - this show was Freya's "Kaer Morhen" - her Witcher acting school!
    UPDATE: OMG!
Freya studied at "Arts University Bournemouth"
Guess who lectured at that very same university (his day job):
Douglas Cockle, the voice of Geralt in all of the games! - the greatest video game voice actor of all time!
So Ciri and Geralt are alumni of Arts University Bournemouth

I really appreciated your point that sacrificing an innocent child -- even if she's not "special," even if she's not Geralt's child (as Yennefer said last episode, "I didn't know what you were to him!") -- that's still not okay. That's always kind of bugged me, but I didn't put it into words.
Fringilla and Cahir may be "bad," but they are definitely complex and interesting -- one of the signature elements of this series.
The MVP of this season? There are a lot of possibilities -- this is a solid cast top to bottom -- but Freya Allan gets my vote.
Oh, and yes, the owls are not what they seem. :-)

      @NoelleMar Před rokem +1

Yennifer’s excuse was terrible, but I would be surprised if she could have done it considering the number of times she decided to help instead of not. Even when she freed Cahir, though she said she was saving herself, I think she also couldn’t straight up kill someone, even a stranger, and a morally ambiguous one at best as far as she knew. But there might be other examples that prove me wrong.

I've never been interested in this universe but this show is really nice, they made it even stronger with this season, I really enjoyed it, I'm curious to see what they'll do in the future :) but the twist that shocked me in the end wasn't the reveal of the White Flame but the reveal that Jaskier might be a traitor working for that Dijkstra guy, season 3 will be tough :0

    • @stephaniecasey9100
      @stephaniecasey9100 Před 2 lety +3

I agree. Most reactors have missed this since it's a small scene and Dijkstra just says "the bard" instead of Jaskier. But I think it's more significant than people are giving it credit. Especially, with that scene in episode 7 where Jaskier is talking to Geralt after Yennifer has taken Ciri. He says, "people do stupid things when they think they're trapped in a corner." I don't think that line of dialogue is just coincidence.

The books are amazing and season one captured them and pretty much spot on they tended to only change what needed to be changed to intro all characters at once in some fashion and also because some things do not translate well from page onto the screen.
The changes they made in the second season changed many key components of major integral things including characters and the way magic works in the world and lore of the original creator. That does not mean it is bad or that there should not be another season there is no reason for hysteria over changes. I just miss the intricate expansive and almost claustrophobic feel of the Authors work and the purity of his characters and his commitment to never change them to suite critics. That being said if I want purity, I can just go read the books. And I recommend them to whomever enjoys the show though you may want to read at pace so as not to spoil yourselves.
