Oh, OH
sometimes I listen to Bill's songs and wonder if his irl life is okay, considering some of them talk about feeling trapped, wanting to be free, struggling with what he thinks or what others think. Regardless, I'm really happy he has his music as an outlet, and I hope he knows how many lives he has brightened with his songs. Dont go m'dude, your work is and will always be amazing.
I'd love to be there for Bill.
yeah
The thing is, no matter how much good you bring to people around you, in the end you will still feel the same bad feelings if you are not happy, even more if the people are strangers.
I would imagine that’s why he makes these videos, right? If he is struggling with issues in his life (I truly hope not), what better way to sort through those feelings than to “discuss” them in a creative way? Seems like a good method of staying sane and not losing sight of what’s important.
I hope that you're wrong because that's sad😢
he gonna take another year break and learn to animate in the 4th dimension
isnt animation technically already in the 4th dimension?
XD
Is it possible to learn this power?
Assuming the 4th dimension refers to the usual definition of the 4th dimension, time, the 4th dimension would not exist as time is a social construct. Then again, since this video takes a length of time to watch it could be argued that all animations are in the 4th dimension.

Hi
I’m convinced Bill is actually one of the most intelligent people to ever exist and all of his songs have very very deep meanings. Or maybe he’s actually the worlds first conscious AI
he seems like the type to actually be very intelligent, but acts dumb and humorous because.. life’s boring.
He has confirmed he just landed on earth and it’s weird.
A princess locked away in a tower, hoping to be rescued when really he could just open the front door and step outside probably. Stuck living in his own head constructing ideas about what people think of him and what to do with his life rather than actually figuring it out for real.
Bill's song all talk about something existential. What they say is kinda dreamy and nonsensical, but it talks to your unconscious mind, and you can definitely *feel* that they mean something, even though on the surface it looks random.
Bill is a great and unique songwriter, because he makes songs about all kind of stuff we all think about but we can't describe, and still everyone can understand and feel what he means.

This song means so much to me, and I can't believe how in the wide discography of his, possibly the least in your face song, the one that could get overshadowed by his other work, the one that doesn't stand out, stands out for me personally. It shines in how it isn't the first Bill Wurtz song to shock you with quality, rather it slowly reveals itself. This is perfection, not a single second has even the smallest flaw.
yes! this is my favourite bill wurtz song because it's so cohesive and deliberate in how it handles the theme of feeling isolated / not knowing what to do in life.
musically it's very suspended and clustered until the chorus which delivers simple fresh open harmonies - but the texture is never too thick or hype - there's still a lot of restraint even at the climaxes. it makes it feel cozy to me, very rounded and gentle
Personally this is my favorite song to ever exist, and if Bill Wurtz is not in history books im not dying
@@Pkmn20 EXACTLY!
The thing that blows me away is how packed full of small but wonderful little hooks and melodies it is. It’s such a glorious composition, these short, barely perceptible melodic turns or close-voiced harmonies you could build an entire pop song out of, played once for a second then discarded never to return, IMO really adds to that feeling of wonderment and joy but simultaneous dread and sadness that it’s wasted and no one will care. Everybody out here making complex analogies
I see this as the genuine expression of an existential crisis through a person who has a lot of talent and status, but in a world that is so absurd that these attributes are presented as meaningless.
He's a "princess", but he's made of weird little blocks. Part of the joke of this work is self-criticism, and a falling note at 0:04 - when he first proudly claims to be a princess - establishes for us that this character is silly, entitled, and probably a little deluded, maybe asking too much of us by asking for that label. This self-criticism may or may not reflect Mr. Wurtz's actual feelings about his own personal self-image as an artist, but if it does, he's certainly not alone.
He thinks too much of the fabulous diamonds in the sky, the impossible objects of achievment that drive a typical princess's standards ever higher towards unrealistic standards of pleasure. He asks "Do you love me?" to the just-introduced audience character, and in typical princess fashion, we can tell he expects a certain answer. When he considers that things may have gone "Astray?" - the only other binary option apart from pure devotion - it's enough to make the text shake with fear, and in his royal entitlement he retreats from the confrontation behind "nice curtains".
Catching dreams in buckets is what he does, in his house, where his ceiling is. This sounds like fantastical idea, but it's presented as mundane and uninteresting in comparison to other things he does, like the bike ride. I think this is meant to represent the process of making art, employing one's talent. It's magical, it's like catching dreams in a bucket, who could complain about a responsibility so gleeful? But to a princess, it's just a bothersome chore that distracts from freer things. While he catches dreams, the uncertain world unfolds in front of him, while he experiences little consequence, again in classic princess fashion.
Honestly his fear of unseen neighbours that listen to him could be pure comedic psychosis. A stretch is that these "neighbours he doesn't have" are his millions of followers, who hang on to his every word like the subjects of royalty would. I think psychosis though.
He goes back on the road back down the road downtown, but fails to actually interact with the aforementioned downtown, only passing by it, insulated by his transportation, bigger than it, above it all. This is likely because he lacks courage, instead posessing a wordless "something else": he's ridiculous and particular, attributes that are both pros and cons in certain contexts, but both very necessary to be the sort of artist that Mr. Wurtz is.
He feels particular about his "world", and upon touching this topic he falls into it, his fun temporary journey ends, and the character becomes more vulnerable, and literally more realistic. We've broken through a layer of boast, and this more fully-formed character model is going to tell us some deeper, more personal things about our "princess". We even get our first 4th wall break to suggest a deeper level shortly after this point, with "what an interesting song".
We see this charcter first suffering deep in thought, but it's as if the entitlement and high standards of a princess cannot bear to hold on the moment of suffering, sprawled on the floor, for more than a second or two. A princess must not have peas under her mattress, nor moments of pure suffering in their train of thought. We immediately forcedly move towards "better things", and our protagonist begins to ask things of us instead of boasting. Leaning on us whole-heartedly with the assumption that we care as only a princess would.
"Where do I belong?" "I don't know what we're here for." The princess reveals that despite his status, he struggles with these questions just like we do. We all suffer like him, the difference is just that he's a princess, with special permissions from an arbitrary place to demand finer things and more time to think and create. These sorts of tensions expressed this way were done very well in Bo Burnham's inside, but they're encapsulated quickly and spectacularly here. I see this as very much on the same wavelength, and it's cool to see how the narative becomes more confident, proactive, and compassionate towards the end, suggesting that growth for princesses is indeed possible. We even get the wonderful message that we're all princesses.
And that final line may actually be deeply, uncomfortably true.

bill changed my perception of what sounds normal as a song,
it went from lyrics with maybe meaning and a story
to "mmm buckets"
(Gonna edit this as I go on) here’s my poor analysis:
“I’m a princess. And I think about the diamonds in the sky too often”. This line introduces our character as a princess (duh).
“I think about the diamonds isn’t he sky too often” symbolizes her longing for the outside world that she was shielded from due to her status.
It also says “real diamonds” at the bottom so this could be a reference to her frivolity
“Do you love me, or have things gone astray?” This reveals the princess is doubting her relationship with someone close to her. Probably, it’s a parental figure. On the screen, we see the line “nice curtains” the curtains could represent a barrier that blocks her from the outside world. This helps establish the isolated mood of the story and stresses the fact that the princess is hidden away from the world.
“Buckets catch the dreams as they fall from my ceiling.” The princess cherishes whatever fragment of the outside world she can get, and she dreams of leaving her prison.
“Earthquakes come and go all afternoon” this is a reference to the rocky relationship she has with the aforementioned person.
“I’m a princess, and I wonder about my neighbors even though I don’t have them. They’re listening to every word I say.” She longs to meet the citizens of the kingdom she comes from. “They’re listening to every word I say” although she can’t see them, they can see her (formal events where she’s required to be etc) she feels disconnected from them and wants to get closer.
The screen then says “gotta go now”, then “back on the road…downtown.” She has escaped. “I don’t have courage, but I have something else” she is naïve, and believes her royal heritage protects her from danger.
“Feeling very particular - What an interesting song” she’s feeling on top of the world now. “Tell me where I belong” despite being amongst people, she still feels disconnected and alone. She starts to doubt her decision.
“Tell me where I went wrong, what’s the message in this song” the princess realizes the real world is harsher than she imagines.
“Respect me. I’m a princess” the same naïvety is back, she still believes she is protected by her status.
“These soldiers that surround me to make sure I’m lonely” she is captured and brought back to the castle.
“Open the door - thank you for opening the door” she escapes again. “Dreaming about my friends in need” she sees the harsh state of the world wants to help.
“There goes the ceiling” she’s shunned and disowned by her family and no longer protected by her status.
“I’m a princess. I read that wrong, I’m a dunce.” This ending could either symbolize her becoming more humble, or her motivation failing and her succumbing to a life of isolation.
“Everyone is a princess”: we all believe we have more bodily autonomy than we really do, and believe ourselves to be smarter than we really are. However, we are much like the princess - we will never be truly free, and there will always be something or someone, an obstacle you can’t overcome.

He also called himself a dunce right after. The song is about growing old and losing your confidence.
this song actually has a very interesting deeper meaning in it. i am in awe.
at the start of this song, we hear bill describe the diamonds in the sky, questioning if they love him. This could be perceived in many ways, one of which being that the diamonds are religious figures; what with the questioning of if they even still exist or care about him. In the next verses, we can assume the dreams fall from his ceiling because they are perceived so highly by him, being collected by buckets as he still doesn't quite understand the proper way to handle them and treats them like a trivial consequence or irrelevant item. Later on, he mentions the neighbors that listen to him, even though they don't exist. They listen to every word he says, and in some way, we can draw a similarity to anxiety. Those moments where you randomly remember something you did early in your life and think everyone hates you for: that's what's being portrayed here. When he says, "I don't have courage, but I have something else, and it's more than words," he refers to the 'ridiculousness' and individuality of his own self affecting how he perceives the world around him. when he asks for the real meaning or message of the song to be told to him "Before I'm gone," we can draw comparisons to questioning the meaning of life. The soldiers that surround him could be seen as technology, such as phones and computers, that are supposed to connect us to each other, but often make us feel lonely. In this song, they also seem to be used to daydream, to pretend that everything is okay. as the song comes to a close, they begin to feel that there must be more to life than they can see from their room, or in a way, their current mentality. and at the end, we are treated to the lines "everyone is princess." the song describing the life and feelings of bill, who is defined as a princess as well, apply to us all as people. we all deal with anxieties; we all question the meaning of life and the existence of a greater purpose. this song effectively and spectacularly encapsulates the feelings of us all in a way i will never forget.

This man's art will go down in history when history catches up with him.
You were saying...History of The Entire World pt. 2??
History will never catch up. He lives on a whole new plain of exsistence. He is probably a 5d beeing!

History will never catch up he has already told the history and the FUTURE
How do we know that it will catch up?
He went missing for 2 years to learn how his visual style would work in 3D. And he nailed it perfectly.

"Cjshabdsna" is my favourite line.
I associate this song with themes of "doing things your way" -- notably, the dedication and strength it takes to keep moving onwards through the struggles and turbulence that can come with it.
“do you Love me?”
So much, Bill. You don’t understand. Don’t ever leave us.
