I love how the chorus intensifies each time.
"That can be told,"
"That _will_ be told,"
"That *_shall_* be told."
More confident each time. It's fantastic.
cool easter egg j
shouldn't "will" be after "shall" so it's exponentially increasing tone?
Feksander I think "shall" and "will" mean basically the same thing, but "shall" is more formal so it's stronger that way. Also there's something forceful about the way he sings it.
@@Victorsandergamer For me, it feels like "shall" means that it _needs_ to be told...
A popular CZcams comment that is actually a smart analysis and not some quote about the sun being a deadly lazer on a video that has nothing to do with it?
Wow!!!
This is rare!!!
I love how some of the lyrics are so meaningful like "I remember the moment when my dreams were broken" and "it's a long long road and we follow it again and again" and then some of them are just "went down to the Coast Guard to see what they're guarding, see what the sign says you idiot we're guarding the coast" and yet the song still flows so well
Yes, in both lyrics and music. Bill Wurtz has been able to make people feel like there is meaning to his songs. Of course there is only meaning when you want there to be. That’s why I feel this song is kind of “free form” while the music guiding it to follow the beat as well. It’s a very clever tactic that takes a long time to master. Keep looking for meanings. (You’re doing such a good job than most people)!
@@simpumoon I beg to differ: I don't think you can find meaning in every individual lyric, but if you pay attention to what's overall being said, I think there is some form of meaning.
Sometimes it's more blatant than others; "might quit" makes a whole lot more sense when you understand he left to learn more 3D animation, and this one makes more sense when you contextualise the "long long journey" as Bill's youtube career.
Yeesh, the replies to this comment AREN'T IT. Of course the song has meaning! All songs are meaningful! There's more to them than lyrics.
@@Jaws31 There's nothing wrong with saying something has meaning because you want it to. That statement can be applied to just about any piece of art, really. I mean, sure, you can ask yourself what the meaning in a piece of art is, and chances are the artist who made it had something in mind, that 'something' being the 'meaning.' But, I think it's a little more complex than that. There are a lot of people out there who try to discover the intended meaning behind art when faced with it, people who try to get into the mind of the artist. There's nothing wrong with that of course, a lot of art is made to convey a message or idea, and understanding that will help you better appreciate the piece and the artist. But, at the same time, I feel it's equally, if not more important to find your own meaning in art. The things we humans create are most powerful when we can relate them to our own lives and experiences. And, the thing is, something doesn't have to have a defined meaning for it to still be meaningful. An artist doesn't have an idea or message to convey for their creation to be powerful. This song, and many others by Bill Wurtz, very much feel like they embrace that idea of letting people find their own meaning in the music, and that's just fine in my book.

That’s when you know, that Bill Wurtz is a very clever and inspiring individual. The music is of course the big cary here. The “snapping feel” the music gives also help the message you think the song is trying to convey. The tone also really helps here. The character development in these songs is just wonderful. A few years ago, he was crazy, and it was raining, then after that he told is we are free to do whatever we want to, and now everything is about how far we have come.
Marvelous!
How far weve come And, that we still got plenty of road ahead of us
We've come a long long long way.
"I just found out the meaning of life! But I still hesitate!"
"And I know you're probably wondering who you are! And I know it might seem lonely, but we've come so far!"
"Now I'm doing alright, and I'm downright feeling okay. It's the END OF THE WORLD, and I just can't wait!"
"Looked back in the mirror; thought about who I had become. AND I don't think that anything's gone wrong!"
"Hallelujah! Today's a brand new day!"
This is true character development.
“I know that this video is a bill wurtz video and is supposed to make no sense, but this one truly speaks to me. There’s so much truth to it. It symbolizes the Journey of life. When you’re younger, you have so many dreams that you want to achieve. When you get older, you figure out that many of those dreams aren’t going to happen. You become stuck on this long long journey of life. You don’t know what your next step should be. You have so much time ahead of you, but what will you do with it? The song seems to be about someone reminiscing on this time of life. They’re remembering the journey they went on to get to the point they are at now. The song ends by saying that it’s still a ‘long long long way forward.’ The journey isn’t over, and it never will be, like the never-ending road it mentioned. It’s as if the message he is trying to show is that even if life may not be infinite, the journey is. There’s an infinite amount of choices you will make. There’s an infinite amount of of memories. So even though sometimes you are stuck and don’t know what to do with the rest of your life journey, you will get through it. You have already been through so much, and you can and will get through so much more. Good times, not so good times, they’re all part of that journey.”
-Said all English teachers to ever exist XD
Brilliantly rehearsed... thanks for the inspirational messages helped me out a lot ✨
This is deep, I'm trying to be able to use figurative language like this so I don't sound cheesy.
Okay, great job! Glad to see some people actually listen to the lyrics. There is a difference to listening and hearing by the way. I feel this song has a more “free form” style to it. It could mean anything. I do agree with your thoughts as to how this is about the “journey of life.” However, looking deeper can really help you feel more if you want. It is clear that the music has a uppity feel to it, and that the lyrics are very cleverly written by, having a certain meaning to them. Being able to put these things together, allows the lyrics to feel more impactful than if you match them together. I’m more of a literary person, than a musical genius. I find lyrics more fun to decipher than how they sync with music. The cheerful music, combined with the contradicting lyrics really get the song in your head. It also makes you feel inspired to keep going. It seems you think this song is about the “journey of life,” and it is clear that, that message is one of the easier ones to grasp than others. As I take from it, putting these two parts together, really help the song as a whole. In both lyrics and music. This tactic is a classic, and is a very good one to get messages sent clearly, cleverly, and fun. I’m glad you’re able to pull a meaning out of this song, it shows that you are invested and actively listening, to try and understand. The “free form” style is a good way to get you think, and feel. The music is really the donkey carrying the goods here. (You’re doing better than others by thinking). ;)
cheesy doesn't exist. it's just a word invented by the Uncool Guys™
Not a very funny or interesting comment.
a man tries to commit ѕuiсidе after writing a note. after a bit of consideration he realizes that it was a bad idea, throws away the note, and decides to go out on a journey with a few friends to experience it all before considering anything. on his journey, not only did his mood get better and better, he also found meanings for life during the journey. as the lyrics show, the friends who didn't go with the man are still filled with hope as the man tells everyone about himself.

@@Dowlphin still liking it.
I feel like this song has so many hidden meanings but I can't connect them.
We all make plans about how life will go, and some of them we pin a lot of hope on. But they don't always work out. Sometimes you gotta keep trying but other times it might be a good idea to just give up on them and try something different.
Life seems short in the grand scheme of things but really we all have a lot of life ahead of us and so long as we live there is telling how it will turn out. Life has limitless possibilities for everyone, and we won't know how it all turned out until its over.
So maybe just try something new? Move to Hollywood, start at podcast, join the coast guard, doesn't matter what, doesn't matter if it works out or not. If it doesn't then just move on and try something else. If it does, well there you go, now you have a real life going. Life goes on and with it comes endless opportunities to make memories and enjoy life. So keep on keeping on.
They're all like that. I think that's partially why they're so successful.
He likes it mysterious and he doesn’t expect us to uncover them and that way he doesn’t have to think to hard about them.

It’s great this song can get you to feel certain ways, as most people just like the music part. Lyrics and music are both very powerful tools to make people feel and think. Although I feel this song is very, “free form.” The music really helps here, like a lot. The uppity music combined with the adversary of the lyrics really get you to feel that the lyrics mean something more, than what they appear. Cheerful music, can be used to spread deep messages easily, and in a more “fun” manner than going to match both together.

Yeah, it's a little more similar to the 3 songs he made right after the world history one (not counting "got to know what's going on", because that's a very different tone compared to the other 3, it's still a really good song though), or some of his other, older songs that got a little creative.

YES. THIS PART. His bridges have been absolutely killing it, consistently.
i htink 1:33 is better cause of the BIG BIG trumpet
honestly tho??? like he has a great voice and makes all the music himself how has he not been picked up by a producer or something

A journey of 1000 miles begins with slipping on your trousers
A journey of 1000 miles begins with waking up in the morning traveling straight into the sun
That did not age well.
all of bill wurtzs songs are old timey banjo infused country songs with subtle hints of *punk rock* and *heavy metal*
It's also about going home or going somewhere else
It's like it's a totally new genre
t h e. m o r e. y o u. k n o w.
bruh.
it’s jazz fusion, skrub.
I think you’re confusing that with jazz.
this is your best song i love it
every time when i watch this again i want to comment that but then i see that i already did.

I still believe that you didn't pack your toothbrush.

1:48 "And the road doesn't end" Most magical breakdown I have ever heard in a song!
I actually understand what's happening there and it's still magical. Phooey to people who say learning theory sucks the fun out of music.

Hamilton Mays - Damn straight.
Yeah! It reminds me of the im riding a pony part on mt saint Helens
@@hamiltonmays4256 can you explain it to me then?
Ok but this song actually slaps
I can confirm that it slaps
Can confirm
I remember the moment that my dreams were broken
I wrote them down on a postcard then threw it away
I slipped into some trousers and rolled out my window
Then went out into the wilderness where I’m going to stay
And it’s a long, long, long journey that we’ve been on
And it’s a long long long story that can be told
And it’s a long long day, and we’ve come a long long way
And it’s a long long long way back
Lookin around this museum for paintings I relate to
Even though most of them were painted by somebody else
Then we went to the movies and watched lots of films there, yeahh
Now I’m going down to Hollywood to make them myself
And it’s a long, long, long journey that we’ve been on
And it’s a long long long story that will be told
And it’s a long long day, and we’ve come a long long way
And it’s a long long long way back
And it’s a big big vehicle that we’re driving in
And I’ve been following this roadway since it began
And if I came here to lose then I still might win
When I go down that road again
And the road doesn’t end
It’s a long long road and we follow it again and again
And the road don’t pretend
I went down to the coast guard to see what they’re guarding
See what the sign says, you idiot, we’re guarding the coast
Now I’m going on a podcast to talk about my memories
Even though I can’t remember anything from before the show
I made some long long phone calls to my friends at home
And I told them where I’ve been and the places I’m going
And they said, “Wow, that’s incredible, but we already know,
Because of that long long song you wrote.”
About how it’s a long, long, long journey that we’ve been on
And it’s a long long long story that shall be told
And it’s a long long day, and we’ve come a long long way
But there’s still a long way to go
It’s a long long long way
It’s a long long strong way
It’s a long long long way
Forward
And its a long long long comment
And it's a long long phone call to his friends at home

Bro your harmonies are fire, probably the best music I've heard all year long
What I like about these songs is that while they are very abstract, they occasionally connect this abstractness to something very material and random, giving the song a sort of wavy journey through symbolism and concrete narratives
