Focus ST resonator delete/gutted stock muffler MOD

- Removed the stock resonator and opened up the stock muffler and removed all the packing, this makes for a awesome sound while still having that stock appearing exhaust. Really opens up the sound of the stock 2.0 eco boost engine

Just finished this mod on a 18 chili 🌶 red ST. It’s a California car so all the emissions BS on it doesn’t sound as turbocharged through the exhaust but it’s night and day over the stock sound. Does not sound like a rice rocket but more of a light STI purr. Overall it’s pretty simple, lay out your flap cuts with square and sharpie, make plasma cuts and pull the packing out, fold over and re weld. Thanks for the idea and for the price you can’t beat this exhaust mod. Mountune 275 coming soon! Meets and does not void the warranty if ford puts it on.

I actually own this muffler now, gonna have CM Buildz weld it on in place of my stock one this week.

Your st sounds amazing! When you cut open the muffler did you just remove the fibers or you removed more internals? Correct me if I'm wrong it isn't as loud as ppl that actually delete the whole muffler a res?

I just removed all the packing that came in the muffler originally. Everything in the muffler stayed the same. It’s def quieter then a res/muffler delete. A lot more bare-able

Major drone. Just get the back box delete and keep the middle muffler

Can you cut out the glass packs from the bottom of the muffler? Possibly cut and weld the muffler without removing it from the vehicle? CMbuildz
nickalaj1 I guess you could, but honestly it would be a pain. Plus when doing it from the top of the muffler you can’t see the rewelded parts

Did you just take it to a muffler shop to have the packing removed? What did they charge you? Any drone?
Thomas Cruz this customer brought me the car saying he would like more sound to come out of the exhaust without actually changing the look of the stock exhaust. So I gave him this option which I also do on the focus rs. This set up sounds amazing with no hwy drone at all. This is also with the resonator deleted
It sounds great! Not as extreme as a full res/muffler delete, and retains the stock look. That's what I'm all about. Keep up the great work!
CMbuildz Racing i ran just a muffler delete with no other mods before and it droned like crazy... had to buy a catback to save my head from exploding.

is there any kind of rasp or vibration? I did the muff/res delete and low rpm's it's perfect, but after 25-30% throttle/ 4k+ rpm it's all over raspy like an uncontrolled sound. I want that deep note on low throttle/rev and idle, but still love it while WOT without pissing off those around me. also, can I see some more startup/launch/flyby videos please
dtfreshh magnaflow muffler will deep the sound and will be more crackle then raspy

How does this effect ford warranty?
It does effect it’s at all ... your simply modifying sound out of the original system
Does this cause any codes or check engine light?
No there are no sensors after the downpipe. You are free to do whatever from the cat back.
FFS, just save your money and buy a quality exhaust system. Sounds like hammered dog shit.
