You cannot have a functional democracy without free speech.
We need to also addresses that they are trying to lower voting age because it's breaches the bill of rights however this hovt has constantly breached the bill of rights during covid by discriminating people, locking them down, forcing medical treatment which made people homeless. Free speech is integral to a democracy
Jonathan does plenty of heavy lifting for NZ, thank you!
It is possible that the Attorney General has reminded Ardern and her Minister of the NZ Bill Of Rights which guarantees "unrestricted"freedom of speech
Speaking as a gay man, Jordan Peterson has said nothing disagreeable. Everything he has said has been very fair and reasonable. Certainly nothing that could be described as "hate".
...and where's the Free Speech Union on our front line medical practitioners who have been muzzled?
The sooner we get labour and their green helpers out of government the better. It's actually criminal that we have to wait till end next year for election.

Red/blue same animal or two sides of same coin. Changing political parties WILL NOT be enough. We do not need a top heavy society these Muppets are too underqualified to be in charge. We must bring in a formal degree that must be held BEFORE placing them in charge of a society.
Voting for any of the major parties, including AcT, will not make a shred of difference...we have to wisen up to this charade
@@elizagoodytwoshoes9140 You have an amazing faith in "qualifications" from some woke institution
@@Eohippus100 not really but wouldn’t it be nice to clean up all the corruption from all the indoctrinated. Time these muppets were held to account for the undergrads that they really are.
Its not illegal for 16 year olds to be prostitutes' but its illegal to pay them until they are 18. Now we are going to decide if a 16 year old can vote because discrimination based on age is illegal? If you are 90 and having financial trouble a 30 year mortgage could help. Cant discriminate based on age. If you are 30 and want to retire then apply for the pension. Cant discriminate based on age. If you want to go back to high school as a 40 year old then do it. Cant discriminate based on age. If you have just been conceived and want to live. Shut up, you are not the right age.
Without free speech how can we have that discussion.
Well articulated ben.
@@peterthepakeha2799 Thank you. I practice a lot and appreciate the feedback. I was surprised about the structure of the legal prostitution situation in NZ. I would love to see some lawyers argue that.
This government would give preschoolers the vote if they thought it would keep them in Power
@@rustyone7299 it's a green party initiative. I don't think the other parties are keen on it except maybe the Maori party they might like it.
@@bennichols1113 ....yes, you've done your homework well.
Would someone please tell this to the police in Brighton, who just today have accused Kellie-Jay Keen, the convener of the womens rights advocacy group Standing For Women, of a hate crime resulting from from her speech in the defence of women’s rights.
Agree with Sean, hate speech laws should either apply to everyone or no one.
No,....freedom of speech is paramount. Sean isnt smart enough to understand just how harmful and dangerous hate speech laws can be..
@@Ww-wr1oo that would unfortunately apply to most of the country! 🤷♂️

Btw Folau did nothing wrong. Thats HIS belief. He's entitled to it. You don't have to buy into it. People these days are ridiculous. People who believe in God believe in hell. That's thier right.
Even people who don't follow religion believe in a definition of hell. It's a common word. It's something like a place where you are tortured. Personally I think it makes much more sense that that could as easily be a state of mind and not an afterlife.
@@bennichols1113 yes Ben I believe that hell is accessible at any given moment.
To put it simply, hell is a state of mind...a mind distracted from God#Love💞
SEAN HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT A BOOKLET THE GOVERNMENT HAVE PUT OUT ABOUT THIS, AND HOW TO TURN PEOPLE IN IF YOU THINK THEY ARE PUSHING WHAT THEY CLASS AS CONSPIRACY THEORIES,
Sounds like the government are the conspiracy theorists.
Organic opinions are not a conspiracy.
Accusations of people conspiring are just that.
I accuse the gov of conspiring with foreign powers making them foreign agents.

Well that’s what our government is doing. Another stupid first.
I see my last comment was removed, so you obviously don't encourage free speech on this channel.

Good work Jonathan.
After Falou was banned for saying gays would go to hell a gay rugby prop came out and said that living as a gay person before he came out was HELL. He literally said he had suffered the HELL he was warned about. The difference looks like an argument as to what the word HELL means. Is hell a place you go to when you are dead or is it a place you go to here on earth while you are alive?
The most authoritative person to speak of J Hell is Christ. He warned of it more than any other person in the bible. Knowing heaven he had a clearer vision of the comparative depravity of hell than anyone.
However a hellish existence on earth can be expected if you live as a homosexual. This is a depraved existence that is an abomination , an ultimate insult to God. If your conscience is alive you will be in torment living such a life.
@@stephenking4170 thats one view. I dont think its up to you to decide what God is insulted by though.
@@bennichols1113 No, I am not so presumptuous. I am definitely not alone among the billions of people who " find homosexuality disgusting" , to quote the President of Uganda. This universally common reaction to filthy poofter behaviour comes as no surprise to people who are "made in the image of God" and who share a common conscience. It is therefore of no surprise that in multiple places in the bible it clearly states that homosexuality is "an abomination" to God. It could hardly be clearer. So, not me alone, but the common sense of decency and the bible itself both clearly point to this sexual perversion being an "abomination " and insulting to our Creator. What else is it? It is certainly not honouring to God. Quite the opposite. It is time to encourage men to repent and honour their Creator and live a decent life .
This is after all the realm of sorrows where God takes no sides.
We are here to make choices, choose wisely💨🤍😇/👹🖤
It is both for those who choose it or for those who suffer unfortunate life events. Hell is a place without God. This can be experienced on earth and after death, but hell is far worse after death because while on earth there is good coexisting with evil, not just evil. Eternal regret, eternal existence without the goodness of God and grace. North Korea is a small taste of life and governance without God.
Isn't Free Speech is the Core of Democracy?

Speaking as a gay man, the Human Rights Act as it presently stands is sufficient.
Yes indeed
Some religions are horribly oppressive to gays and women. We have lost our right to criticize them.
Just call them Yags, thank you. or something more mainstream like poofters. Please do not use the word gay in the context of homosexuals. This is a gross violation of the original word and of what was once a beautiful name given to girls by many a proud mother. We need free speech to challenge homosexuals and other sexual deviants on the way they offensively invade our homes on media and abuse others through language and propaganda, not to mention false projection of a destructive morality. Such propaganda does not belong on prime time TV (like David Walliams on BGT ) but on adult or rated viewing times.
Criticism is not hate Speech. Someone genuinely shouting hateful views where they actually want to cause Violence against a group of people is Hate Speech. However, this is a gateway for a Labour Govt to push their Socialist/Communist Agendas.
They're already criticized. What they want is to change others to promote thier beliefs and how they CHOOSE to live. I live by my beliefs not someone elses. That'll everyones right to do.
@@melancholycollie1466 So calling religion "Mumbo Jumbo" is not hate speech because it is not incitement to violence, of course

Great interview, thankyou
I would like to know if gangs would be included in this protection.
If an atheist declares his atheism and why he doesn't believe any sort of mumbo jumbo, is that hate speech?
Well saying atheists is like saying religion haters so they should be.
But being admitted satanic used be a public offence as satanists kill babies.
Now they get freedom of religion.
But atheists are not religious just a group opposed to religion.
They hate it.
So really they should be cautioned that their mockery could lead to violence
no because communism is atheism by default but declaring that you believe in mumbo jumbo is hate speech.
@@jimijamesjowitt I'm an Atheist, yes, I think religious people are nuts, without the ability to think critically, but I defend the right of people to be religious, just as I should be allowed to be Atheist. Be religious if you wish, but don't tell me I have to live the way your book says. Religion should be a personal thing, and not used to influence legislation and free society.
@@buzzlite3 ....the book you mention has been around for 2000 years and it doesn't care what you think.
@@peterthepakeha2799 Thank you, I rest my case.
All laws of a country should apply/protect all citizens.
This is an example of very poorly thought through ideologically driven legislation.
As Per.
Wouldn't everyone who identifies that anything they say is their 'religious belief' be exempt, because who is going to say what is a valid and invalid 'religious stance' - suddenly no atheists
Is belief in the flying spaghetti monster protected by this law?
@@Eohippus100 i hope so as the flying spaghetti monster really does exist! (all be it in another realm)
As does most anything else, that one can imagine 🤔💞
The problem with hate speech laws is the very notion of what is hate speech, simply put everyone has a different definition of what hate speech is and represents. A government dictating to the public what it means is implying a moral code of conduct they see fit to what they believe is a decent society. Only to find this is a rabbit hole and will drag out even more draconian laws in order to serve a natural progression of nuance from a variety of special interest groups. The solution here is to let the majority of the general public decide what is moral and decent for the society they live in, requiring months if not years of vigorous debate including all sections of the community. Allowing a consensus between all groups and individuals with the majority given the mandate to implement that rule, only on the grounds of the minority having a motion of understanding
Would have been great to get him on the show. He was great last night.
Well said Sir....I will say though, that under this legislation all criticism of islam will be banned...but not other religions as has happened in Europe
Just a heads up Sean, your interview with Barry Brill about the revision of the UN prediction on climate change is difficult to access on You Tube despite my best efforts. Maybe the reach of Arderns goons is further than we thought
Problem is if you have no moral fiber you have NO moral compass, people just automatically understood this simple truth once, now it's all about me myself and I 🥴
I do not believe in "moral fibre" to deal with people. What we need is police and the rule of law mandated by the people via elections
