Great introduction to the subject and nice to see you've showed pictures of so many player's forces (including my Fascisti). My favourite faction is the English Array (for which I'm in the process of putting together a new force), as the concept of a feudal-themed military force in rural 1930s England allows for a lot of flexibility, both in troop types and variations of kit and equipment.

Great video. A game I’ve often thought about without actually taking the plunge. Great to hear so much more about the background and it certainly makes it more tempting. Favourite faction would have to be the cricketers. They’re pretty unusual and it is a great game.

Probably if this scenario were to happen for real, I think it would follow a path similar to the Spanish Civil War with the BUF getting Luftwaffe aircraft to gain a major advantage with air superiority and carpet bomb every resistance into capitulation

In 1983, working for what had been a HLI Territorial Army unit, I came close to buying a couple of Martini-Henrys from the stores, only my lack of a FAC or the knowledge that I probably didn't need them stopping me
There is a fair chance, though, that these would have been rechambered for .303, as many were as Martini-Enfield rifles, many of them going to TA units and thus available for Scottish Republic use

I object to the comment that Edward tried to hold on to parts of the Empire such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is true political and military power kept Britain in control of India until far later. I'd like to point out that the Statute of Westminster 1931 (December 11th) granted full and complete independence to the Dominion of Canada, the Irish Free State, and the Union of South Africa without the need for any acts of ratification. It also gave the same status to three other Dominions -Australia, New Zealand, and Newfoundland - only after the Parliament of that Dominion had legislated to adopt them. But in effect all six were now completely independent Commonwealth Realms, sharing a ceremonial head of state.

I think you might have missed a trick by not looking more deeply into Scottish culture. Scottish society wasn’t just a microcosm of English Society.
Take the Church in Scotland. It is and was quite different to the Church of England. For a start it is considerably less hierarchical than the CoE. The CoS has no bishops and archbishops. It has no geographical seat of power (no Canterbury). It’s governing body, the General Assembly, meets in Edinburgh in a chamber not five minutes walk from the Castle. I am not sure it is a good candidate to form a military faction. If it did I doubt it would be called the League of St Andrew. Presbyterians do not share the Catholic Church’s fondness for saints. It would probably be called something horribly dull like the Church of Scotland Civic Defence Brigade. More likely than not the Church of Scotland would side with whomever the doctors, lawyers, and military officers are siding with. They are a church of upper middle class sensibilities.
Many smaller churches have split from the Church of Scotland to form smaller church that ARE more regional in nature. For example the Free Church of Scotland tends to be in the West of Scotland.
If you want a military faction in Scotland I suggest looking into Scottish Catholics, not the highlanders*
Scottish Catholics, many of whom were Irish immigrants who fled the potato famine, have had a contentious and occasionally violent relationship with Scottish Preysbeterians. The Irish often settled in poorer neighbourhoods of large industrial cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee.
In many respects it echos Northern Ireland. The Catholics suffering from prejudicial treating getting an unfair share of resources. If order broke down I can easily see the Catholics forming local defence leagues to protect themselves from their Protestant neighbours. I can also see fighters from Ireland giving succour to the Scottish Catholics.
    Just some thoughts.
    *Quick overview of the highlanders.
Up to the 18th century the Highlands were quite densely populated with Gaelic speaking Catholics. By the 20th century these people had largely been deported and displaced. During the Napoleonic wars recruitment drives in the highlands of Scotland found battalions of men wiling to fight in the British Army. When they tried the same thing during the Boer war they could only muster a handful. In short the Highland population had plummeted and they were a spent force militarily

It's likely that hitler would still invade Poland and France but Britain would certainly not be getting involved! :)
