He had a deal in Calgary. It paid him $15 million more than the one in Columbus. He shook hands on the deal and said he was going for a drive with his wife before he signed it. He came back in tears and said he could not sign the deal. The problem is Yoko.

I have looked at the Jackets, big picture. If you want a place to drink a beer and cheer when a goal is scored, the Jackets are good enough. If you want to win a Stanley Cup, or have any chance thereof, then the Jackets are a losing proposition. The problem began at their inception over 20 years ago. They did not have a winning season for 10 years. The reputation was signed and sealed. Unlike Boston, Vegas or a Florida city, Columbus is a pleasant but generally a ho-hum city. Blue Jacket free agents generally leave to play elsewhere, outside free agents rarely come. It appears that those who do come, come for the wrong reasons. Either to get playing time, or to play in a less stressful, less competitive environment. Nothing there leads to a Stanley Cup. Buffalo and Ottawa have similar problems.

Goudreau ain't playing good... but that's what happens when u get a new coach during training camp!! All the summer prep was slashed due to the whole Babcock situation!! Last team to loose their coach during training camp was Colorado... and they had a 48 points season!! This one's primarily on management for me!! And he's barely 4 points out of being the best scorer of the team... and that says a lot!!

my question is, what would have happened if he came to the flyers? He's from a town right near Philadelphia and I'm not sure how it would have played out if he came to philly. As a flyers fan myself I would have loved to have him and it's a shame seeing his decline like this.

He’d make a fairly good pair with Couturier, but I think he’d be even better in NJ.. Maybe a Meier/Gaudreau trade would work? I think Laine should be in Vancouver or Florida.

Jackets never learn to avoid these high-priced players just because they suddenly become available. Drafting Nash 1st overall was one thing but remind me which star players on other teams have gone to Columbus and really succeeded?
Laine's been OK but nothing like he was in Manitoba. Seth Jones did well but was traded from Nashville before becoming someone the Hawks thought was worth 9.5 trillion a year. Gaudreau has flopped in Ohio despite leading them in points last year.

I guess it shouldn't be too big of a surprise, is winning that important to Gaudreau? Even though he said he went to Columbus to win games, we all know how much weight he puts on words. For someone to willingly move from a cup contender to a bottom feeder and one of the best lines in the league, tells me winning is low priority.

6:19 I don't know about all that fancy Nancy stuff but The classic way of doing this You take how much he's getting paid and divide it by the points (or goal depending on how much of an obnoxious fan you are, 1st hand experience here 😉) he produces and then you hang it above his head on social media, preferably in this case on the Columbus Blue Jackets official facebook, Instagram or CZcams accounts. Hey and if you're going to the game you can scream it from the nose bleeds and/or make a sign pointing out "HEY JOHNNY HOCKEY!! 2.5 million a goal??? BOONE'S GONNA WANT A RAISE!!!"
