ryan is saying what most already know. MLSE is a corporation that's focused on the bottom line not winning a cup. they were cleaning up in the early 90's when the leafs were in 30th, 31st place.
Team is unbalanced, need to draft better D. Need to want to draft them too. And yes, O'Reilly and Schenn left because of the messed-up locker room, not because of Toronto fans.
Schenn did nothing when his rookie got mugged and had his brains slammed against the ice...O'Reilly couldn't handle the heat in Toronto. Good riddance to both.

Richest team in the NHL they don't have to prove anything, like most companies you build a loyal base, then you give them a little at a time so they follow your product, have them always wanting more, always keep them hungry. It's a cycle.

I believe that....during playoffs on Leaf PP CBC had camera on him and Marner and Marner appeared to be calling all the shots and I don't think O'Reilly cared for it. It was a brief camera on them that I caught. I don't think he liked the way they played. Its funny bc media reported that O'Reilly wanted Marner to be traded to Nashville. I doubt that. You know I think Leafs organization have deep issues....I wouldn't be surprised if its scandalous .....Gambling would be top of my list if I were to guess. I personally don't trust the players or organization anymore. Just my strong opinion.
If this is legit I don't think he's talking about Marner, there are reports he asked the Nashville GM to try to trade for Marner...Rielly and Tavares are honestly both good guys with obvious character...so it's Matthews and maybe Willie...I could see it with Matthews he gets a pass while the city goes after Mitch but in reality Matthews is also a weak playoff player, they're both much weaker in the playoffs than regular season. I hope they do but I don't think this team wins a cup while Matthews is their best player.
if he actually said this then he shouldn't have requested trade out of st louis at the 2023 deadline. Could've finished the 2022-23 season out with the blue then walk as a free agent to nashville like he did rather than ask for trade to toronto first before signing in nashville lol

Nashville is a bad team that would not have made the playoffs in the East. I don’t take this hearsay seriously. The main issue for Toronto is they go up against real elite defensive teams with top tier goaltending every year. Toronto counters that with goaltending that gives up soft goals every playoff game. So if ROR really did say this, I would bet money it was the goaltending that was the issue and probably the defense.
