Kawhi may not fit YOUR definition of a leader doesn’t mean he isn’t one. Last year, when the Raptors were down in those playoffs games or having a rough stretch time and time again Kawhi made tough shots/ and plays to refocus the squad. They fed off of his consistency and he never got shook in the biggest moments that was the shit the Raptors NEEDED. Kyle Lowry was the heart but Kawhi was the blood. This Clippers team was full of ego-centric players and they got brought back to reality. Kawhi performed well every series except the last game but that was overall the whole team.

Clippers biggest mistake, hell the whole basketball talking heads biggest mistake, was thinking Kawhi was a primary ball handler or facilitator. He is an extremely consistent shooter and if given a point or point forward that can be the primary facilitator, he is a bit of a monster which also frees him up to play better defense.
But he was never "the guy". Look at the teams he won chips with, the Spurs... the God damn Spurs, he wasn't even a numbered option at that point. And Toronto, who without Kawhi, made it pretty much as far as the Clippers. Kawhi can be a number 1, but he needs the team to be there, but he won't ever be "the man" because he doesn't make the team any better than sum of his own stats. He isn't a LeBron, Joker, Paul type player. He never has been, and what we've seen of his court vision and passing, he never will be.
The clippers also didn't really build chemistry because of his stupid load management
