The Mustang Mach E Cali Route 1 is a blast

- The Mustang Mach E has been a popular car since it was launched. It features rear wheel or all wheel drive, standard or extended range batteries and a load of great technology. When it was first introduced, the California Route 1 was only available rear wheel drive, which is now shifted to only all wheel drive. Even with this shift, the Cali Route 1 has the best range out of the Mach E lineup, which is helpful for those with range anxiety.
In this video you're going to learn the basics of the Mach E California Route 1. I cover off interior and exterior styling, as well as vehicle features, charging and more.

Well done! Excellent review. Thank you
Thank you, appreciate that!
after owning for about 10 months I have to say the range is actually AMAZING. I consistently get 350-360 miles for city driving in 50-100 F weather. and 310 for hotter periods. during winter - 20-40F range comes down to 230-250 - which is fine since it's a month or two.
The numbers are bang on what I was expecting for winter driving, so it's great to hear some owner feedback on that! How do you find it handles in the snow?
@@CarsWithSteve not much snow here in dallas - fun to drive on sleet :P handles well. the traction control is really good. every one of the safety features - precollision assist, traction control - all work real good.
Haha, the sleet driving would be a blast. Glad you're enjoying the ride!
Fastest charge time is 45 minutes if you have a DC fast charger. As opposed to 5 to 7 minutes at the gas station if you have an internal combustion engine. I dunno, I'm still unsold on electric vehicles. But I'm alot more familiar with the Mustang Mach E thanks to your excellent review, Steve.
You're welcome! The charge up vs gas fill up is a big reason why I haven't looked at an EV as my next car too. I'm planning on getting into an EV in the winter to see how it holds up though
One thing though. You can charge at home everyday as opposed to once/twice a month at a gas station. Technically you can fill up at a gas station everyday but let's be realistic, no one is doing that. For an EV you can plug it into your wall outlet in the garage every night to "top off". It is like having a gas station in your house.
Here in San Diego, our year-round average temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Guess that makes me a perfect EV candidate?
Even if you were up in Winnipeg an EV could work.. you're just going to be better off year round! What EVs are on your radar right now?
@@CarsWithSteve The Mach E of course. I love that car.
It's a great ride! I haven't met a Mach-E owner that hasn't enjoyed it.. unless they went RWD and live where it snows. Are you thinking Cali Rt1 or another trim?

I like my route 1. What's surprising is what's missing. This model is a tier above the Premium and doesn't have the ambient lighting and upgraded sound system the Premium has. More baffling is the trunk doesn't have automatic lift, which is such a basic thing these days. Frustrating.
Glad you're enjoying it! Is it the first time you've owned an EV? The stripped down features makes sense to max out on range.. It was an odd choice for Ford to completely pull out the hands free liftgate in the Mach E though
Ford has discontinued the Route 1 trim 😔
Unfortunate they did that but the AWD Extended Ranger gets close to 500km/320 miles and RWD ER is 515km/320 miles which is pretty close to the range of the Cali RT1
My 2023 has active park assist. Did I misunderstand?
Interesting.. 🤔 It was removed late 2022 but there's no reference to it being added back in as a feature in the 2023/2024 model. Are you in the Cali Rt 1 as well?
@@CarsWithSteve I have a Premium E4 X eAWD
So odd but hey, if you've got it I wouldn't complain! How are you liking the Mach E so far?
@@CarsWithSteve so far I really like it. After being gone for almost 3 weeks without it being plugged in, I had a bit of a difficult time bringing the car out of a coma. But when I did, I had the same 77% charge I had when I left and the 12 V battery doesn’t seem to be anything wrong either. But boy was it hard to bring it out of the deep deep sleep.
I've heard some crazy deep sleep stories. Did you need to call a tow truck or were you at least able to do it yourself?
What’s the 0-60 time👌
Looking at about 4.8 seconds
