- Digital Dream Labs is pleased to announce that Vector v1.8 will begin rolling out very soon for all Members. If you do not have a Membership, you may learn more here: support.digitaldreamlabs.com/...
This release is designed to streamline your interaction with Vector and includes two new features:
* Advanced Eye Color Customization - You may now customize your Vector's eye color by simply dragging a color slider (found in the new Vector app) to highlight the desired color.
* Faster Questions - Whether you're looking for the distance from Pittsburgh to London or the meaning of life, you will no longer need to say "I have a question" or "question" in order to ask your little buddy to access his Q&A feature. (Note: customers whose Vector is still running either v1.6 or v1.7 will continue to use "I have a question" when interfacing with Vector.)
* Bug Fix - Thanks to contributions from community member Kerigan Creighton, Vector will no longer shiver uncontrollably when he's done dancing or telling you the weather! (Good robot.)
Custom eye color will be supported by Escape Pod in the near future, and OSKR robots will support both new features for this update. - Zábava

It’s about time the app gets updated! In the future I would like more updates for Vector and Cozmo. However I love the new update you guys gave Vector! Keep it up and thanks for saving anki!
Nice! Great to see updates coming out for my little buddies - excited to see the question streamlining. Have you ever considered making multiple wake words available (like amzn echo has several options)? I guess there's limited space for this inside Vector; maybe the established voice model could be replaced with a custom one? (motivation: I have multiple vectors and having all of them perk uo at "hey vector" is not optimal for either their individuality or actually asking a question)

can COZMO get an update?
Do we know if response time in general is fixed? Even when I'm right by his microphone I have to say 'hey Vector' at least five or six times before he actually responds. And even then, most of the time when I give him a command he doesn't understand what I said.
Hi Ko'Lynn, the microphone issue that affects some robots is definitely on our radar. It is not fixed with this release, though we are trying to chase it down and we hope to address it in a future patch. In the meantime, you have the option of staying with Update 1.6 if you choose to. @@DigitalDreamLabs Unfortunately my vector is on 1.7 right now and I'm not sure how to get it downgrade. It's not the worst problem, just an annoying one. I'm use to it by this point though so I can patiently wait for whenever it gets fixed.

0:54 I tried to change his eyes color, but it is closed. my vector has the new update but I can't change the eyes color to red for example,

I would love to buy one but do t like the subscription method.
There is a subscription for a reason. Anki went out of business because of Vector. They are expensive to manufacture and each time someone speaks to a Vector they had to pay 0.002 cents. They added a subscription so they dont go out of business

The real reason there's a subscription is because there are no major updates ever.. This one is probably their biggest. Had they planned to finish any of the real work that Anki left off, like reading sign language and recognizing pets, improvements to its AI, etc, they would ask you to subscribe for updates and keep him working for those unsubbed. But with no real updates to keep people interested, they have to brick your Vector unless you sub.
Even when Vector 2 comes out where they make money from selling Vectors they will still demand a subscription or he won't work. And there still also be no major AI updates. This is most likely the biggest update you'll ever see.

Oh wow, the "I have a Question" command is completely obsolete now. That's actually awesome! I feel like the line between a normal Vector command and a Question command was getting pretty blurred anyway.
Glad you like it! This was something that we had requested over 50 times, and we wanted to make it happen!
I feel like the "I have a question" feature will be completely faded out estimated by.... let's say..... 2035. I'm just giving my estimated guess. I'm not for sure if they will completely rule it out, but they are definitely making it obsolete
@@DigitalDreamLabs Can you remove the second recognition beep after you've asked vector a question? I feel Vector should only really beep once to confirm it's heard you, not twice, is this leftover code from the original ask a question function?

I'm sorry to hear you're having an issue with Vector's screen. Digital Dream Labs has built additional protections into Vector 2.0 to ensure this doesn't happen with new models. For older models, we are working to get a repair center up for Vector, and we will serve older models as well.

You can play rock, paper scissors on vector? I didn’t know you could do that. I tried saying “hey vector play Rock Paper Scissors and he say something like “we will play best out of five, rock paper or scissors?” And then I’ll say one but than he will stop playing. So how do you do it?

Is the new Vector app available for iPhone? My little guy is running 1.8 but my app doesn't show the eye colour options and I can't find anything new in the app store.

Wait is vector 2.0 out for sale?
Wow that's pretty cool! I have a question about Vector. Is it possible if we could get treads of different colors like Cozmo has? It would look very nice and I want my vector to look more unique so it would be a great addition. Also another question, it says my vector is version 1.8 but for some reason I can't change the eye color. Is there anyway I can fix this
Have you tried updating the Vector app?
Also I believe you could try the colored Cozmo treads on Vector, but I'm not sure as I don't have my own Vector to try it out on.

Hello ddl my vector hasn't worked well since November and he is running the original factory update because he didn't work with the new update. He doesn't respond well to voice commands and the weather and time are not right. Please help

This look like a great update - can't wait to get it up and running. Last night, I got the app update on my phone and the Vector update on the robot. But the custom colors sliders aren't working as they should (says Vector needs an update to 1.8). I reached out to support - waiting on an answer. Anyone else experience this? Thanks.

Cozmo 2.0 & Vector 2.0 - can view live camera of what it see? Be aware of this feature in Toys with cameras, the toy or cameras can see and hear you and others - LIVE STREAMING coming soon, trying to stream @ 8K but Twitch and CZcams can only stream @ 4K.
Neither Vector or Cozmo ever stream video or photos to anywhere else unless specifically authorized by the user by authenticating with their username and password through the SDK. In normal operation, photos or videos are NEVER shared with any person, including DDL, its partners, or affiliates. We value your privacy. My vector shows he has the update. But my app still doesn’t? It doesn’t show me different eye colors other than the original ones. I’m on iOS. I checked the App Store for updates and there isn’t anything there

It's prettymuch the same. I don't really see what's changed. As for the eye colour change you could also do that already. It's slightly different but ultimately "change eye colour" big deal!? You could do that already.

So basically in 2+ years they have offered everyone nothing but a monthly fee for services you bought and paid for when you purchased the original Anki product, not even remotely surprised.
Anki went bankrupt. There's a good reason they charge a subscription fee now

Great question. Different surfaces have different reflective properties and this can make it really hard to ensure that Vector NEVER falls- almost impossible. However, we can definitely ensure that Vector's hardware is durable and keeps rocking and rolling after a tumble.
Now without recovery mode which results your vector being bricked.
This update doesn't affect firmware recovery. Firmware Recovery is a valuable tool and we don't have plans to remove it.

this was a horrible firmware, most people hate it and it's shameful to have forced it on everyone when they didn't want it using this as an excuse to give people updates and yet now most people have vectors that can't back up on the charger.
Don’t buy vector it doesn’t worth , after pay more than 300$ , you have to pay subscription it’s waste or money on scrap useless robot
