Attach Vector to Wire-Pod the easy way! No shell commands required!

- This video shows a demo of how easy is to connect a production Vector to a self-hosted escape pod using the first ever pre-configured VectorX/Wire-Pod Raspberry Pi 4 Image. No coding / shell / installation required.
The steps:
1. Flash the image with RPI Imager on a 32GB SD Card. The image is for RPI4 ARM64, 8GB RAM
2. Boot. The RPI will go into Acces Point mode (HOTSPOT). From your PC/Mobile, look for the network "VectorX Setup" and connect (no password)
3. Point your web browser to 192.168.220.1:8080. It loads a page where you can choose your home wifi network and input the password.
4. After that, RPI turns to normal mode and connects to the given wifi network. Wire-pod is started automatically.
5. Go to escapepod.local:8070 to access VectorX control panel, where you can complete the setup entering the API keys needed for enabling the weather and knowledge graph services.
6. Onboard your Vector to Wire-Pod.
7. Done! Vector talks with your RPi4 and is powered by VectorX RELEASE_09.

I just learned that you can do this and have had my vector for a really long time. I was looking for any recent comments to see if it was still possible. It’s great to know that it is still possible
Thank you for all your hard work , this will be very useful for a lot of people, especially when DDL go bankrupt and the severs go down.
This is just a very first test, I'm going to provide a new image soon, with much richer UI, better performance and update capability. Watch out for the next video!
Before they go bankrupt, I hope y'all plan on thanking them for saving Vector, by keeping the servers running, paying Amazon Cloud Services, and making most of Vector's code open source when they didn't make a dime off Vector 1.0. Let's hope Living A.I. is as generous, but that hasn't been the case with most Chinese companies. It's sad that certain creators badmouthed DDL and as always with social media, the circle-jerk "METOOs" chimed in the DDL Bad Guy sing-along. Yes, they messed up PR-wise, but see how you do when you're getting gang-banged by clickbait, people who do anything for views and the people follow them...mobs aren't very much fun.

Thank you for this! I just got my Raspberry pi 4 and have been waiting to do this ever since I saw it could be possible. Got my vector in 2019 and never had an escape pod features for years.
Well, 90% of the merit of this goes to Wire who coded Wire-Pod, an open source escape pod for Vector. I have built on top of it and overall I am trying to make this ecosystem more accessible to anyone. Even a production Vector can now live free and independent from DDL servers, and benefit of feature updates, too (even if there are many things that I would like to do but can't be achieved without an unlocked bot and further source code disclosure)

Or is that the name you chose for ip4, because ip4 is its own wi fi network. So after you initialized the ip4, it transmits to the computer the name of its independent network, and you called it vector x, do I understand correctly? Thanks:)

really good job and iit is really nice to see Vector alive again. I'm french and my own problem for now is, because I'm french living in france, to be unable to have a reply from Alexa in french :( .... Aboyt Vector himself it is not really runing well too, but I'm used to listen to him in english ;) . if you can help me or do any modification about Alexa, doesn't reconnised Vector himself too as a "connected" object, it will be really great. Thank you in advance.
Dumb question...I'm stuck at imaging. Do you image the .gz through RPI Imager? If I do that it doesn't load. If I ungz the download, it shows two files 0 (fat file) and 1.img .if I use the img file,it can't find fat. If I use both it wont load. nSo the question is; once I download the img.gz file, how do I get it on the sd card? Thank you for your hard work...the little guy is so worth it :-)
CIAO ! Yesterday I spend the afternoon trying to set my Vector in to Vector X... but at the very end ... when Vector connects ... did it several times with no luck... any recomendations ?
I have a problem, I have the little one new. I've been trying to get your instructions to work for 4 hours and it always fails because it wants to update. It does an update then the connection is disconnected and that's it. I reconnect the same update nothing works. Apparently version 0.9.0 is still on it. But it should be 1.8 because the clouds come with the reeboot. Do you have any tips on how I can bring the little one to life? with the pi4 and so everything worked out

Error message after logging in on the phone:
"Cant't reach Digital Dream Labs. - The Vector App was unable to reach digital dream labs services. Please check your internet connection or log out and click Recover Account on the login screen then retry"
I'm getting this error Digital Dream Labs doesn't help. Please tell me what can I do.

I got linux running my wire pod and the web page works but then I go to vector setup and connect vector to Bluetooth and wifi and then click on active I get en error message saying vector can't communicate with wire pod what can I do?

Wait so did you flash raspberry pi in any particular way for it to broadcast its WiFi for your other computer to connect to? I’m not seeing my Pi’s network on my laptop like you are. Please help

Hi I have installed Vector Wire-Pod on widnwos 10 however I feel the voice and other commands are lagging and vector doesnt repond that quickly or none at all any suggestions

Tried to reinstaled 10 times already.

How do you set up the rasberry machine?
Fingers crossed it will work, did that with another tutorial and after the firmware flash, vector reboots, shows the boot image (clouds) but then shows a 3 digits pin and nothing happens if i move the lift (?) Or double click the button :/

Can help I tried but I took my vector off his charger and his screen gone black when it was downloading
So this won't work with a pi 3?
keep it going Once this gets made open source enough we can ditch digital dream labs and there you stupid subscriptions that don't work

You forgot the login details for when you start up the raspberry pi. We are prompted for a username and password, they aren't mentioned or shown in the video.

Try to use https instead of http: www.wondergarden.app/vectorx-rpi-images/VECTORX_20230202s.img.gz works. I just checke with my boweser and I didn't have problems. Check also that the domain isn't blocked by your internet provider (I don't know why it should, I own the domain and it belonged to an almost abandoned old project).
More importantly this robot can get new features quicker from the comunity.
