Shin Megami Tensei 4 Apocalypse Boss Merkabah & Lucifer [APOCALYPSE]
First time playing through SMT4 series.
Sequel too SMT4 (sorta)
Streaming this as I play through it, but still will make a movie out of it.
Pre-ordered a 3ds built in capture card a while ago 2016 (February) from Keity, but it takes around 5 months for them to make/ship it (I received it July 8th). Originally I had a 3ds XL just for this game, but the screen on a handheld device was just way too annoying to play on, and I'm not a fan of that but now I can play 3ds games on a monitor/tv with a lot bigger screen and it's a lot better now. - Hry

I just noticed that on 20:10 Lucifer recognizes that “Flynn” is a fake. Then he fucking shrugs as he doesn’t even care that much 😂
Both Lucifer and Merkabah are able to recognize that Flynn is not actually Flynn; it’s why they call him a false Messiah.

The protagonists of the game cannot be trusted and they are just as bad as all the devils they encounter. There is no morality truly in the universe of SMT, and there is never a true end as is seen with the continuation of the series where the world degrades exponentially and no hero seals the finality. Such is the delusion of man as is the delusion of Krishna and even Shiva.

Well, it was Shesha, technically.
Even though they were worthless, they were able to be of use by giving you, who actually CAN fight Merkabah/Lucifer, time to recover. They were tools, and Flynn made use of them.
@@wusscake shessa was impersonating Flynn at the time so he was the one doing it. The real flynn would likely not do that.

I think it would've been neat if he had been a boss in an NG+ Challenge Quest.
The closest we get is demonic Hope from that one DLC quest.
In an smt 4 manga prayers hope uses Thor as one of his demons so he’s around lvl 70-80. He would’ve given merkabah a good fight

What i really like about this scene is that despite Hope (The "Pierce gazing Samurai") siding with Merkaba, his main priority inbued by his OWN code of honor still is and always is to protect the people regardless... you can see Hope joined Merkaba's side because he was promised people will be protected and taken care of and that he can't discard Merkabas orders because that would mean his own destruction, therefore he can't no longer protect the people...
While i hate how Apocalypse handled all the Law vs Chaos vs Neutral and turned it all into a wish fulfillment self insert bs, i love these little tidbits where characters are allowed these moments to themselves
Merkabah doesn't even sound intimidating at all, he's just going straight into FILTH FILTH FILTH FILTH FILTH ANYONE I DON'T LIKE IS FILTH and actually sounds sort of funny. Lucifer is a bit more intimidating than him but the most intimidating and creepy is actually Krishna.
It's fun to see that in SMT, the demons, humans and pagan gods are always more honored and dignified than the Angels and YHVH.

Is no one going to highlight how they handled the treatment of saying YHVH? It's definitely accurate to faith that you don't ever want to say god's actual name. I just didn't expect it to be so funny.
I do like that the Ashura-Kai members have absolutely no faith in Lucifer. They know damn well you're going to kill him after seeing what your group did to Merkabah.

Plot
The idea is that Shesha/Ananta is the Great Serpent of Death and Renewal, according to Krishna. That, and Shesha is the Cosmic Egg itself, and the souls it consumes might as well be a shield for him until he is close to hatching into the new universe
Shin Megami Tensei answers the question "Well, if God is so good, why does he let bad things happen?"
Really? Imagine if he rained lightning down on every "bad" person. The fun fact is that he actually USED to do that.

Kind of annoying how this game is a lot more critical of Law than it is of Chaos, especially with the revelations later on. I feel like other SMT games showed the ups and downs of both Law and Chaos better. In Apocalypse, Law is the main evil.

Don’t worry. It seems that Smt V will be doing the opposite. It’s going to take a good look at the downside of chaos.
Except the thing is, they reveal YHWH is Chaos as well.
The Angels' Law and Lucifer's Chaos are ultimately the same thing, both residing in the palm of His hand. Neither are free from God's influence; a false Law and a false Chaos spread solely for the perpetuation of YHWH's rule. It is this eternal cycle that lead the White to despair, seeing no hope for humanity to escape it.
Hence why Krishna and the polytheistic gods are so vehement in their quest for Salvation.

My fight against Merkabah ended with Alice and Nanashi spamming energy drain and the occasional Mudoon and Die for Me for a solid 20min
