Shin Megami Tensei 4 FINAL Boss Merkabah & Lucifer (NEUTRAL) [MASTER]
First time playing through SMT4 series.
This game has been recommended to me multiple times.
I've decided to exclude the additional choices from the main story and just keep it full top screen (Beside in Boss fights). Every option I choose are CHAOS answers.
Pre-ordered a 3ds built in capture card a while ago 2016 (February) from Keity, but it takes around 5 months for them to make/ship it (I received it July 8th). Originally I had a 3ds XL just for this game, but the screen on a handheld device was just way too annoying to play on, and I'm not a fan of that but now I can play 3ds games on a monitor/tv with a lot bigger screen and it's a lot better now. - Hry

As much as Law and Chaos are at their worst in this game, Merkabah and Lucifer do have points that humanity are too flawed to unite and understand each other but with Flynn choosing to keep believing in humanity, perhaps it is possible.
Man, I wish Isabeau had Judgment (the Neutral Aligned Megidolion) after you teamed up with her in the Alignment lock.
I think it's better to let Isabeau to act as human being where there are weak alone but can achieve everything by working together and have an iron will
@@dalaxdercrisper957 She still is. I think that it would just be a good representation of what she went through. And it helps make her better when compared to Lucifer and Merkahbah when a party member.

My favorite part in this whole route is how the final line in the route is "Thanks." 😂
if i have one big issue with this game its that neutral is the route with the most content, yet gameplay wise none of it is unique. its just the 2 final bosses or the other routes.
i feel like it would be better if you fought walter and jonathan im their human forms, and then fought a different unique final boss.
I agree with this so much. Maybe instead of 2 phases, go nuts and have 3 fucking boss phases. (At least then, these two boss fights would actually be difficult.)
As you stated, the first phase is fighting Jonathan and Walter in their human forms and a cutscene happens showing Lucifer/the 4 archangels telling an injured Walter/Jonathan to fuse with them.
Then you fight Merkabah/Lucifer for reals.
It would make the fight just as heartbreaking as Isabeau's boss fight in Law/Chaos because then it wouldn't feel like you're killing a demon/angel, but your friends that has been with you through your entire journey of SMT IV.
@@cynicalducky1041 I agree. Like, at first you're forced to face them normally, then, they have to reacj the resolve to fuse with their alignment companions to achieve what they desire
I would agree, but honestly it’s far more effective to be given a glimpse of what they once were, then horrified to see what they have become. You’re already desensitized enough during an actual Law/Chaos route after killing Isabeau, so I assume why it’s not done in the normal routes. At the same time though given how much DLC this game got maybe it’s not a stretch that a unique final boss could have been made. I personally like to think of Masakado as Neutral’s final boss, even if the game doesn’t.
Based on the amount of detail this ending has compared to the others, I think it is safe to say that this is the canon one of this SMT game (and Apocalypse, while most likely a spin-off in some kind of alternate universe, somewhat supports it).
It feels more than welcome after the way too edgy canon ending of SMT III Nocturne.
I feel like with smt 3 you can't go wrong with freedom or TDE as the cannon ending
@@EA-bv8zk With "freedom" you mean the "neutral" (that where you restore the world to its previous state and become human again instead of turning into the master of a new universe) o the regular demon ending?
I think the neutral was actually supposed to be the main ending in the vanilla release of the game given how detailed and poignant that ending cutscene is compared to the Reason and demon endings, but they finally decided to go for the TDE in the following SMT III editions. It seems to be the one which is referenced in other SMT titles where the Demi-fiend appears, such as Digital Devil Saga.
Seeing smt 5 tralier makes me think is there some aspects of Apocalypse is cannon

according to the notes in apocalypse smt:iv happens if nanashi denied dagda's offer, so at this point in smt:iv nanashi is dead and apocalypse doesnt happen. the story only diverges from this game if nanashi took dagda's offer to go back to life

"Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse represents an alternative outcome than the one explored in Shin Megami Tensei IV. The point of divergence begins when SMTIV:A's protagonist meets Dagda. In one reality, the protagonist declines Dagda's offer and dies. Afterwards, events unfold as witnessed in SMTIV."
They're in the same timeline, there's just a branching point dependent on Nanashi's decision on Dagda's offer.

Didn't bother with concentrate in the SMT series, only in Persona.

Every SMT to this point that if your MC dies, game over... here it's now improved... Even more insane is that Persona 5 doesn't keep this trend!

The little girl throughout the game is The Goddess of Tokyo and it's implied that women in your gauntlet (Burroughs I think)

I know its been a month but the best advice I can give you is this
Just use a fucking guide because its so complicated its not even funny
You basically have to balance lawful and chaotic choices you make throughout the game up to a point. There's a few actions in particular (the last question in the moral question tunnels, the party split, the question the White ask you regarding your future plans) that have massive impacts on this. Tenkai's alignment questions give you a chance to check your progress. You know you're locked to Neutral if Stephen greets you in the White realm.
...but I also agree, a guide helps immensely here.

@@nanotfound1042 Kind of: you don't need all the quests to get on the Neutral route, but in order to complete it, there's a selection of ordinarily optional quests you must finish in order to proceed past a point in the endgame. (Which might as well be 100% of them if you don't manage to find their starting locations, as a couple are only started by talking to a person in an isolated room).
The game tries to imply this to you, but never points out the details nor where you need to go to progress them (especially since it doesn't tell you WHICH quests are necessary).
