"Kaya po kami nandito upang bigyan ng tulong ang lahat ng nangangailangan dito sa gitna ng nararanasan natin na El Niño," President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. remarked during the distribution of various government assistance at the San Jose Municipal Gymnasium in the Municipality of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro on April 23, 2024.
The President highlighted Occidental Mindoro's crucial role in agriculture and food security, particularly in rice, corn and onion production as well as acknowledged the Province's frontline position in the battle against hunger, emphasizing its importance in the nation's food security strategy.
He unveiled a comprehensive aid package aimed at alleviating the effects of El Niño on farmers and fisherfolks. The assistance includes financial aid, fuel subsidies, indemnification and access to loans for affected farmers.
Additionally, irrigation subsidies, communal irrigation projects and solar pump irrigation systems will be implemented to enhance agricultural productivity.
The Chief Executive assured the residents of Occidental Mindoro that the government's assistance aims to facilitate their recovery and ensure that no one is left behind, underscoring the importance of unity and collective effort towards achieving progress, particularly in challenging times like the present El Niño threat.
"Asahan po ninyo na ang national government, kasama ang ating mga legislator, kasama po ang ating mga Cabinet Secretaries, kasama po ang ating local government, pinagkakaisa nating lahat 'yan upang gawin ang lahat ng kailangang gawin, lahat ng kaya naming gawin upang tumulong sa mga tinamaan nitong El Niño," President Marcos Jr. expressed.
