- In this video, I am drawing a German Shepherd cross dog in real time as I chat about my process and also other things going on in my life. I have previously done paintings of both dogs that will be in this drawing which i also show photos of in the video. I do not have chance to finish the drawing in the video but you can follow my facebook page and will see it posted in the near future once it is completed and gifted.
I hope you enjoy watching my process and maybe listening to my ramblings.

I have been an artist since the 60's. A southern man living on an island in Maine, surrounded by a multitude of other artist. I have never appreciated watching and listening to another artist as I appreciate you. There's simply something special about the way you present both yourself and your art. My family and I lost our 6 year old German Shepherd 2 years ago. I have yet to be able to bear looking at his photos, let alone paint, or sketch him. You truly place the heart of an animal within your work. Brilliant and beautiful.
Thank you....:)
i couldn't agree more about toni's videos and art. i'm also in new england - rhode island. but i think where you live is by far the better of the two places!
@@MG-vo7yn Oh my, I don't know about that for I have never lived there. It's beautiful here, although, I'm southern and in saying that it means I'm extremely neighborly and that's hard to find here.
I’m glad it’s not just me that uses the stumps to within an inch of their lives 😂 I’ve started using cotton buds and kitchen roll too lately but can’t beat a good stump
Fully watching and listening. Picking up tips and tricks and soaking up all the experience you are generous enough to share with us.
iam lucky to found such a kind of informative artist,,. it is very helpful❤❤
Love these chatty real time videos 🥰
Good to know somebody does lol...😂
@@TmHudsonArt I’m still watching now 😂 thinking “why don’t mine ever turn out like this?” 😂😂
@@tracybarlow1622 i'm quite sure that i will be saying exactly the same thing when i try to work with my little charcoal set!!! 🤣
I think you are an awesome artist and I think it’s nice that you are brave enough to talk about yourself. I find it interesting because you live some place other than where I do. I watch your videos because I like that you explain what you’re doing and I can follow along. I learn something every time. I think you should not worry so much about saying or not saying anything. I’d watch your work even is you didn’t talk much other than to tell what pencil your using, or why your shading lightly now and heavier at another point in your process. Sometimes people talk so much just to fill space and literally forget to tell you what their doing. Keep up the good work. I’ll look for your next post. Thank you for sharing!!! Blessings!
Thanks..I watch a few channels from other places too because it is sort of a virtual visit to other places. Glad you like these videos...
i was cleaning out a cabinet in my art room & i found a set of charcoal pencils, graphite pencils, paper, blending stumps, and even a little board type thing to sharpen points on the pencils (like sand paper). it is not high quality stuff, but i am going to give it a try and see what happens. hopefully i will learn a bit.
your dog is stunning! wow!!
stupid question: what do you do about the light direction when you combine two different photos - if the light direction isn't the same in each photo?
i've had a twitch under my eye!!!! it is enough to drive me mad when it happens!!! so frustrating!!!!
is "stonking" good or bad?
maybe you can put some photos of your cacti on your newsletter?
i watch these videos (and listen). but go with the majority vote or whatever you want to do. i appreciate anything that you post.
thanks for another wonderful video!! i learned a lot & i will be coming back to it when i try my own charcoal set. i hope your eye stops twitching!
May as well have a play around since you have the stuff handy....can invest in higher quality if you enjoy it.
The two photos I used here were taken on the same shoot at the same spot and with the same light. It was an overcast day that day so no sunshine. I have tried to improvise before with differences in light but the best results come from having photos with similar light going on.
"Stonking" is good haha....means it was a fabulous run....I forget that people over the pond won't know our slang...
I need to get back to that newsletter but I find myself not knowing what to write about. My existence is too mundane for starters...
My eye hasn't twitched today....last nights sleep seemed to sort it out....although I still only slept about 6 hours which is not enough for me...
@@TmHudsonArt please don't stop using the slang! i love learning how other places do it! even in the usa, there are different terms that might be used in one part of the country versus another. a very silly (in my opinion) way that people from massachusetts or rhode island might say your stonking is "wicked good". i'm pretty sure that there are places in the usa where, if i were to say "wicked good", people would look at me very confused, lol.
@@TmHudsonArt I’m at the other side of Yorkshire and didn’t know if stonking meant good or bad 😂😂 as for mundane lives, most of us have mundane lives and that’s why you’re so relatable to listen to! Even my husband enjoys your chats and he has no interest in art ☺️
