Painting realistic cats in acrylic - Timelapse and chat

In this video, i am painting two realistic cats that I was commissioned to do by a client. They are Willow and Buffy. It is one of three such double cat portraits I did for the same client and I used acrylics on hotpress watercolour paper. All supplies listed below. I also chat about a few things whilst I paint for those that like to listen to whats going on with me. This will be the last vid of 2023 so I know i am cutting it fine lol. I had no time in the run up to Xmas so got a couple out now things have calmed down.

I just found your channel, I’m trying to learn acrylics coming from watercolour and pastel and your tutorials are by far the best I’ve found 😄 I’m also painting on watercolour paper, do you seal your acrylics? Or is it enough to just frame them behind glass? I’m using daler rowney system 3 x

I have never sealed an acrylic painting. Framing behind glass is enough protection.
As you get better, maybe try winsor and newton galeria and professional I would also get a very good quality white. I use the W&N pro and also Liquitex for white and i also have liquitex for black too. I also have a few Golden....good brand but more pricey.

Love your work.
Perhaps you could consider raising your commission prices. I'm not an expert on this, but there is this idea that by raising your prices you could increase your clientele, because you will be moving into a different client bracket. If you want, I can recommend someone who I think is much more of an expert on the matter than myself.

Hi yes I have heard this. My paintings cost a lot more than charcoal drawings but it is the paintings I struggle to get orderd on for that very reason. I get lots of charcoal drawing orders because they are cheap due to being quick to do.
