  • In this video, i give 5 tips (there are lots more but only had room for these) on how I became a better pet portrait artist. There is more that i could have talked about but not enough time so these 5 pointers were the first and some of the most important. Meanwhile, you can watch a commission on progress of Ted, a Schnauzer who belongs to an old school peer.
Thank you for watching and for any support you can give so that I can improve this channel and my content.

Beautiful. Thanks for the advice as well! I'm now inspired to start painting again.

The greatest take-away for me is to 'enjoy the process'. I have a tendency to want to go straight into rendering detail, and not take the time to build the layers (as you mentioned). That 'in between, messy stage' is my greatest stumbling block! You inspire me to push through it! Lovely painting of Ted!

Yes it can take some getting used to...just knowing it is a normal stage of the process helps.

thank you so much for this video!!! the tips you provide are so helpful to me!!
i notice that you are using an air brush for the background. i love the effect it gives. i have a few questions about your airbrush. do you have the actual "machine"? or are you using compressed air in a can? i have the compressed air from a can, but it is very limited and the cans are extremely expensive. next question: do you dilute the paint with water for the airbrush or some other medium? last question: if you were to guess what percentage of paint is in the diluted mixture, how much would it be? i know you can't be precise, but a general idea might help me.
they painting is stunning, as usual. thank you again!!!

I have a Clarke air compressor…and I just dilute the paint and experiment lol….no idea percentage… make it sort of like milk…

One question, what kind of acrylics do you use? I'm new to painting, and would like some recommendations. Any other tips would be helpful.😊
