time you did a vid about the state of random bgs that is spreading to solo bgs? premades ruin pvp
I find it interesting that Thrall, Anduin and Alleria are the focus of TWW. The Corrupted Visions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar (from bfa) showed both Thrall and Alleria corrupted, and whatever happened to Stormwind Keep (and probably Anduin) was so bad even Wrathion didn't want to go look.
Wait I didn't even think of this 👀
Sort of wonder if "the war within"...might also allude to Azeroth (or Xal'atath) doing to Alleria (where it disrupts the means she normally uses to avoid void corruption)?
@@artstrutzenberg7197 Calling it the war within certainly makes it sound like there will be inward conflict for the characters.
@@hmmmooops na. the war within is about the war within azeroth. nothing to add there. But i kinda get your perspective. anduin has a war within since SL.
It was his purpose to show you the worst possible outcome
I think the meta narrative is always pretty good. Its the boring dialogue and characters along with scenes where bad guys show up and leave while the good guys scratch their head and have no idea what's going on that is often disappointing to me.
I kinda aggree but shadowlands meta narrative was mid at best and df one was decente but had a lot of holes.
Exactly... it's like they write a cool wiki article and then make the story around that
I think the problem is that because the meta narrative worked so well in WOTLK where Arthas showed up and left a lot. They’ve tried to replicate that ever since.
This is pretty much it. I played through the 10.2 story arc recently, and while I generally thought the overall story itself was pretty good for WoW (it wasn't an Argus by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't bad), the actual details of playing through it were murky, annoying, and laughable. For instance, Fyrakk is suffering the Jailer syndrome hardcore as it's never explained WHY he turns into just another boring Saturday morning cartoon villain. Even during one cut scene, Alexstrasza says, "You used to believe in something, and now you just fight for power!" And Fyrakk just laughs and says, "Yes." That's probably the single stupidest exchange in the whole expansion, because, once again, it was a perfect opportunity to explain at least a LITTLE of the villain's motivations... but nope. Don't think about it. Plus, the overall questing in 10.2 was just... boring and monotonous. A procession of "fill bar", "kill X", and "find Y" quests with no variety at all. So, good overall story. Absolutely awful story progression and exposition that felt like something out of a pay to win Korean MMO.
@@davidharman3665Really? Because I remember myself and many others specifically disliking that part of WotLK because it made Arthas seem like a villain from a Saturday morning cartoon.
if they give us simple, well narrated epic histories, they will be successfull
The writers view real history as problematic. They will continue to create empty hugbox stories with no stakes or teeth. Soft modern or "soy" as some put it.
@@id2k.well said
@redman836 I will say that everything presented here seems much more engaging than the DF announcement.
I dont think so, not for us people who left Blizzard at mid. Shitlan..... I mean Shadowlands :s As I saw the Cinematic at Blizzcon I was happy to have a more "grounded" feeling but at the half where Azeroth cryd out and "speaks" i immediately saw Hydaelyn in my inner eye and Anduin as "Ardbert" from FF14 :s For ME, WoW has left the road i enjoyed traveling on, WoW is not anymore the Game i fell in love back in 2011. They work towards a new story that the people will enjoy that are still there and also for the new Generation. Nothing wrong with it but its not mine anymore :s My sub. runs out after Jan. 2024 and I dont see myself playing anymore after that
@@sagichdochned lol ff14 andy.
As someone that got scared off by shadowlands, I'm willing to come back, get caught up on the lore and give Metzen's vision of the future of Warcraft a chance. They are fixing a LOT of the grief i had with this game, so ill try. Shadowlands felt pointless, but if they can right the ship and write a cool and shipshape story using the classic lore that i love, than all the better. FOR AZEROTH!!!
Hey man, if you plan to play TWW remember that the pre order gives you dragonflight, so if you know you'll be playing it feel free to come back to azeroth early!
10.2 has multiple quests that line up TWW. It's also a pretty cool expansion lol
Bro got scared by a fucking expansion set, crazy...
@@preds43 they LITERALLY meant scared right? Like cowering in a corner, huh? Crazy.
Don't ever pre-order a game. Don't make the problem worse.
Edit: A bit blatant, aren't you guys?
@@preds43 Are you that stupid or just disingenuous? They meant scared off as in they were put off by all the poor design choices in Shadowlands.
I’m really excited but also very sad about the World Soul Saga.
I’m really excited because they have a three-expansion plan, which is amazing! The story is compelling, the theme is enticing, and I truly can’t wait to jump into the War Within.
I’m sad though because this truly feels like the end of World of Warcraft as we know it. With Illidan and Arthas’ arcs over, the titans and the mysteries surrounding them, Azeroth and Elune were really all that remained from the original WoW world. With this Saga, a lot of mysteries are gonna be answered (which isn’t always a good idea, some things are more interesting when not fully understood), the titans are gonna die, we’ll meet Azeroth in some manner and therefore will probably start to uncover once and for all what Azeroth is.
Nah, they could always expand the story as much as they want. In an interview they even said they want another 15 yrs of WoW.
Well said.
WoW 2.0 maybe, but I don't think they will ever truelly end World of Warcraft. As long as some thousand or so people subscribe, the game will keep going. But I could see them majorly recreating the game after World Soul. at least I hope. The game needs an overhaul at the core. New engine, new combat system, etc.
Im just trying to embrace it for what it is. Like your child getting too big and having to let them be on their own finally after all these years of them needing you.
Every ending is a new beginning.
We are uncovering old mysteries such as Azeroth and Elune, but we have new heroes such as Arator (Alleria's and Tyrion's son), the Arathi humans, and a renewed set of dragon aspects.
We have new enemies, such as Xal'atath, the nerubians, and all the cosmic forces (including the light) can be seen as enemies trying to control us.
And the prospect of going back to Northrend, seeing Arathi humans, etc, can mean we could retcon the entire Shadowlands and see a return or Arthas or the Arator dynasty.
We better not have a return of " The Heart Of Azeroth"
you'll wear your necklace and you'll like it because devs said so!
I hope we do, but reimagined as a UI element for legacy mode content or some kind of outdoor-only borrowed power rather than a piece of gear with instanced power
The quality of your content is so good!
As someone who stopped really paying attention to retail story around MoP, this feels like getting back on track.
I dipped my toes back into retail lore around shadowlands, and all I could think was "what in the fuck is going on? Blizzard lost the plot."
Pandaria with it's whole negative emotion nonsense, wod with all manner of time hopping shennanigans, killed the biggest bad there is in bfa, shadowlands was an entire expansion of retcon, and I have no idea what the hell is even going on in dragonflight.
This at least is putting the spotlight back on the original villains of the story. Feels like the last 10 years have been a roller coaster of retcon and shoehorning.
7:16 praise the machine spirit
THE FACTORY MUST GROW
I identifie as a Machine Speaker rock person... .. .
What if Xalatath is a future version of Alleria, where the Void has fully taken control over her, and she could exist outside of time (similar to how Alleria and Turalyon fought Demons for 1000 years despite it being only 24 years on Azeroth). Maybe she isn't strong enough to outright conquer Azeroth, but needs to slowly shape a future that allows the Void to eventually win.
It's a contrivance, but it's plausible with current WoW lore.
I can't wait till the legendary plot twist comes that makes the jailer a good guy in the end
Didn't they sort of do that with the end of Shadowlands?
@NostraDavid2 I think so? I'm mostly being a meme
yeah they alrdy did that. Jailer had a similar arc to Thanos in the MCU. A godlike entity with good intentions but very wrong and evil execution.
This video will again vector me into the next 20 minutes of Lore
Your lore videos are the best videos
I like the setting of The War Within, always wanted to journey to the center of azeroth. I hope there will be more zones that are even deeper that get added in patches.
My expectation is that this Coreway that the Earthen are guarding will lead to a patch zone at the center of Azeroth, perhaps one where we actually see the world soul as the skybox.
I am actually stoked that we get the Nerubians. It looks like with Metzen back in charge, he's undoing a lot of crappy writing from the last few expansions, given that the last Nerubian brood lord was supposedly killed on a freakin' *island expedition* in BfA. The Nerubians were one of my greatest hopes for a future expansion, and BfA killed that dead. So, good on Metzen for waving away that terrible piece of lore.
The whole using the void against the void thing did not start with Alleria and her tutor. The Legion can be seen actively using the void everytime and it even stands to reason they are the best weapon against the void because they are fel corrupted.
Thus my hope is that we may see Sargeras turn to our side. Remember he did what he did out of desperation, not mere malice. Maybe seeing all this he will change his stance on Azeroth.
I ve been saying that for years. Sargeras created the Legion to battle the void and stop it from infecting planets and he was using the Void against the Void itself. He didnt only have demons in his army. He had Void beings too. Voidwalkers, Voidwraiths etc. And his story Arc is not over from his perspective. It is over from ours. We defeated him and saved our planet while Illidan stayed to guard his prison. But from his perspective he hasnt achieved his goal which is to defeat the Void. I am 100% sure Sargeras will return in the Worldsoul Saga, but since hes a massive titan unable to physically enter Azeroth, he will ally with Illidan and use his body as a vessel. That way we will have both Illidan and Sargeras return into the fold and assist us in the Great War.
You can see different cosmic forces affecting and infusing the world soul with their power across previous expansions. The titans and arcane throughout the entire game, the void with the old gods, the fel with sargerase's sword, death with the machinery under icecrown, and life with amirdrassil.
The only one i cant think of is light, but that may happen in midnight and then the world soul would contain some of each power.
I'm glad they're doing more of a void/light thing, always wanted to see the real battle for azeroth. cant wait to see what is revealed with the upcoming expansions
Those zones have something shadowlandish on them. And i wont lie... i kinda miss those zones.
I'll believe it when I experience it Bellular, not before
We still have to wait another two expansions before Anduin becomes worthy to wield Mjolnir.
Thrall: "I KNEW it!"
I do hope Locus-Walker makes his return at some point! He and Alleria are linked due to their teacher-student relationship, so it should happen!
oathsworn = alliance
unbound = horde
I'd like to see how the tie in the archways and arcana. They were to be akin to Azerite, part of Azeroth and under ground. The plot was explored in legion then abandoned.
I almost wonder if the voice that they are hearing is actually Xal'atath. Not that Anduin or Thrall would know Azeroth's voice, but I could see it being a subversive element to the trailer. I could see it playing out where Xal'atath has her hands on the core of Azeroth and is trying to somehow trick us into shifting the world soul into a void form or a form that she can then inhabit/control/take over. Just a thought I keep having.
Is it me or did anduin go from lookin like brad pitt in bfa to the late paul walker for the war within
I think he looks like Stephen Amell somewhat
@gabrielballiet9282 yeah i can see that as well
@@gabrielballiet9282you got it!
No he just started do nightshifts
I hope they do something for encouraging World PvP and balanced faction pops on regular servers - works so well on Seasonal currently - because I really like the sound of this expansion, back to WoW for the holiday season!
I'm glad we have Belluar lore videos to explain WTF the story is doing when leading into a new expansion bc the game sure doesn't.
The massive crystal in harrowfall also VERY MUCH looks like oshu'gun in nagrand imo
Good to see you where did you get the Couch I like it now I need one
Excited and hopeful
I just hope this is a badass and immersive story.
Sargeras saving azeroth after he recovers would be cool
Yeah I wonder what Illidan and Sargeras’ roles will be in the future.
Given how Dragonflight ended on a whimper, I would not get my hopes up for this.
Dragonflight is literally setting up for this saga at the end, that was the entire point of the ending... we also have more patches coming with more story.
Don’t know what you mean… so far DF is one of the best addons I’ve played so far. Fun and beautiful
When Bell says "award-winning templates". Chills.
My personal guess is that we will visit Undermine. It was planned long ago and khaz algar is not far from that....also it was mentioned that Undermine is pretty close to worldsoul
Is it a “crystal” or is it the tip of the sword in silithis?
Is this going to be some 'Void was good all along' story line? Despite all the slavery and murder. I hope Chris Metzen gets it back on track to the old lore.
Shadowlands was my time to tap out. I felt very disrespected as a player who loved the Lore of Warcraft, especially that of the Light and the Titans. This Saga is bringing me back wholeheartedly. My Blood Knight Paladin is ready to defend the Sunwell.
For the glory of Quel’Thalas.
Xalatath might be the 'Advancements' noted by Odin in the book from the start of DF.. maybe she was an old god or some high ranking void entity/Naru that wanted balance and peace and had an advanced culture but was overwhelmed by the Titans AND the void in the war.
9:12 "that massive crystal" - is that not just the tip of the sword?
Nope, confirmed not by the devs
I'm very curious what role Amidrassil will play in the new saga. It was this tree that awakened Azeroth and gave new powers to the aspects.
What tree?
It played its part already I think. Which was establishing that Azeroth's power is not Titan magic. Something else, something different. Azeroth used the Tree to give the aspects their powers - which means they are either as strong as they were when they had their Aspectral powers, or Stronger.
I don't think the Tree will play more of a part than that. It was used as a stepping stone to establish Azeroth is not a Titan.
@@ShadowKallig that would be very disappointing. this tree combines the magic of life, death and arcane and we not gonna use this power to our advantege? As you mentioned this tree has some connection to Azeroth so they couldn't make this tree at least a place to better communicate with the world soul, instead they just gonna forget this plot? ☹
I looked forward to Dragonflight and I have enjoyed it immensely, going into more Dragon lore was cool. I am next now looking forward to the War Within.
You paint a great picture of possibilities, I just enjoy roaming around new areas, gwtting to know stuff, finding stuff. I don't do raiding apart from LFR, but I have an overall enjoyment.
World of Warcraft has kept me sane since the very beginning and 12 years ago I played in hospital right through the leukaemia and my stem cell transplant. I owe the game a lot, it stopped me wondering about whether I would die.
I will look forward to this.
Do we have any news about the physical copy of the game? It’s been a few months since it’s announcement and there has been no news on the physical copy.
Approachable compelling saga- thank goodness! Great overview!
That's right people, humans holy magic originates from the narru. Draenei master race confirmed
You mean.. Naruu are the master race.
As a Paladin player: the Naaru are false gods - the Light is the Light, and it doesn't need no windchimes from space to speak in its place. The Light needs no speaker.
@@NostraDavid2 to bad, cause blizzard already decided for you
And the orc's almost erased the draenei. Orc master race confirmed?
@@shanaeverowe9626 orcs and draenei are friends now, so it evens out
The soul of the world, whom the world is named after, reached out as a disembodied voice to Anduin, a paladin, a "warrior of the light", if you would, asking him to hear her. Sounds good :D
I'll be happy as long as there's no drawn out monologs made for children about friendship and family.
I think we've seen those rings inn Zereth Mortis too
I feel like Metzen wants to bring an end to the warcraft story before Phil shuts down Blizzard
Xalatath could be powering up to possess/dominant the world soul.
What if the voice is that of the Naaru within the crystal?
I thought that “crystal” was the tip of the sword for some reason lol
Same
i thought the same thing. sure looks like it.
jep same here
We have been told that Azeroth consumed Spirit when fighting the elemental lords. What if the spirit was actually suppressed by the Titan imprisonment of Azeroth?
I hope they will use the badass concept art of Jailer that was leaked before Shadowlands for Aman'thul
The premise is way more interesting than dragonflight and leagues ahead of shadowlands. I just hope they are truly making a change for the better.
Sounds different... I'm interested... imo wow needs more compelling stories... hopefully this goes on that direction
cant wait to watch the cinematics on CZcams lmao
I think it's pretty cool that we get to realise that the titans were just yet another faction trying to harness the power of Azeroth and we've been conditioned to be on their side. Which side should we be on in the future? Without the curse of flesh, old god magic, we wouldn't even exist.
I truly hope the Nerubian Empire gets done justice this time around. It's a shame how little the parts were we got in Wrath.
I'm a True classic andy who injoyed every xpac even Shadow lands
I think the biggest threat to the WoW universe is any power being on top, light, void, death, etc. And that claiming Azeroth is the way to victory. That in the end, we learn its a combination of all elements being the key. The same as we always are. Azeroth is everything, we all use all the powers. Demon hunters use chaos, priests void and light, shamans use nature and fire, druids use life, etc etc. I think all of the apocolypse predictions by certain entities were from the perspective of their certain domains. Jailer was scared of something, that mightve been another power winning over azeroth. Which is why he had to claim it for himself, for death. Also having a tree made out of both death and life is a great balance piece for azeroth's power.
More Dwarves = More better ⚒
I am a "blood elf citizen" and cannot wait to go back Home and fly over Silvermoon!
are they going to add flying to silvermoon and other no fly zones?
I can hear Pyro nerd raging from 1000 miles away at the thought of Eonar being on "our side" lmao
I'm on board if metzen is back. Story is important to me.
I knew there was something catchy about the last titan logo holy cow it was in front of me all this time lol
In this exp we will hear Magni Bronzebeard: ''CHAMPION'' :D
do you think sargeras will have a big part to play? i think him and illidan will team up against the other titans
I haven’t played sense cat and mist of panderia, I am kinda excited to play again. But my internet company cut the lines to my house when running new lines. So who knows if and when I will be able to. 😂
One thing to note... its plausible that Azeroth is already imbued in balance with all the major forces. Order, Nature, and Light obviously.. but I'd wager that Sargaras striking the world with that giant sword might have been Chaos, the machinery constructed underneath Icecrown could have done something to do with Death during Zovaal's final attack, and finally it would make sense that at the end of Midnight she is finally imbued with the powers of the Void, bringing her into balance with all the cosmic forces.
Spider Kingdom, yeah! Let's get down there.
I leveled my main in DF and that was it. Heared that it was a good expansion. Felt like it but was not my style and quite too much to do.
I‘m an old school vanilla gamer and played classic until BC.
The new story feels generic and less epic.
I have hope for the new Saga to be more back to the roots and epic and in a way grounded with more intriguing characters! I want the old heros back and arcs finishing at them.
I preordered it and I’m exited to see Warcraft again.
i predict the world soul is becoming a primordial by absorbing all the powers and making them balanced.
WoW's lore has been so complicated and confusing for decades that I don't even pay attention or read the quest text anymore. I treat the game as a collector hobby where I gather objects, trade them for currency, then trade the currency for pets and mounts.
I am super hyped for this. I hope we, as players, discover that most of the antagonists we defeated in the past were actually 'good' guys. Woopsie.
My guy I was burnt out of WoW after Cata and was hearbroken by BFA...
Buuuut I still have a soft spot for Warcraft and its lore. Part of me longs for the day where I could zone out and get lost in Azeroth for hours.
Mainline ttrpg would be dope.
Really hope Alleria goes full corrupt and becomes an interesting character
anyone got an idea what books I can read about stuff like lordaeron and the old history of humans?
i just can't get out of my mind that the machine speakers are the admechs from 40k ahah I hope they speak in binery to their omnissia (azeroth)
I hope it's not another 'decipher their language' activity like the furbolgs.
@@ddenozor that would be kinda funny actually, but i think they are not "side faction" enough for that, i think they are going to play an important part probably
Theory's: Arthas's Soul is in Anduin
True. He had been bound to Arthas for quite a while, we can even see it with his struggle
This could be a way for Arthas' redemption, and maybe make up for that atrocious scene of Sylvanas' monologuing.
In other words: that's definitely not happening. I feel like Blizzard reads fan theories and go out of their way to avoid them, to the detriment of their story and lore.
If we get playable nerubians I’ll freak out because I wanted that for forever but that’s unlikely as hell.
Idd ...as i always wanted ogres😅
Plot twist: The rings are a prison in which we will lock Iridikron and have nothing to do with the rest of the plotline :P
will be a nice change of pace to actually have continuity in the plot and not some lame arbitrary side quest for an entire expansion
Me the while time listening to this: 😮
I was burnt out by SL. But have LOVED DF.
I just hope the Nerubians don’t start talking about their feelings to us.
"This world is a prison" heh hits differently.
Nerubians will be a new horde playable race and these uber humans will be alliance playable race....
I came into this video being suspicious that there is no new information and I was correct you are just making a video of information we already have
I think the crystal is actually the tip of the sword that’s been sticking in Azeroth the last few years.
Anytime i hear "Dorn" my mind immediately goes to Dorne from Game of Thrones. Thr southernmost kingdom on the continent of Westeros.
Nice...
Man those new nerubians looks great I wish some rogue group of them wouldve been a playable race rather than a 3rd dwarf
Too much effort for the art team. lol
That crystal has the same properties as the ashbringers crystal, maybe that's where it originally came from
I think the problem with videos like this for me, is the fact that I don't really want to know about the expansion in 20 minutes. I want to find out for myself.
"Then suddenly he was king of the most powerful military in Azeroth"
I don't remember Anduin defecting to The Horde....
Hopefully we finally get parity between cinematic Anduin and in game Anduin. 😅
Where is the Ion interview?
the only thing that could save the lore of this game is if blizzard hired hydaelyn's voice actor for azeroth because it would be supremely hilarious
As a lore whore for Old Gods and the void, I am so ready for the World Soul Saga
