When a fighter starts clearing divisions multiple times, across generations and even transplants from other organizations, that's absolutely mind boggling!
so incredible to see at that level of the sport..
Gegard Mousasi... been pro in MMA since 2003, rarely loses and is already fighting the 3rd generation of his career and still taking them out and seems to be at his best currently. Mousasi is truly one of the most underrated fighters, never hear him mentioned in that 'goat' conversation but just look at his resume and who he got wins over... a lot of hard hitters and previously undefeated fighters that he stopped.
The fact Silva went up to 205 a couple times while still being champ is more impressive than Jones. Especially all the controversies around Jones (PEDS, eye pokes, sketchy decision wins). Anderson completely destroyed almost all his opponents in devastating fashion.
silvas best opponent was a drugged griffin and sonnen who was destroying him. jones finished sonnen in the first with a almost broken off toe. he also dominated multiple guys who destroyed griffin. ped arent as relevant since he only used it against guys he had already beaten before hand( alex and dc)

I've said before, Silva was the only fighter I saw who could make top level fighters look they had no business being in the same cage/ring with him.
Usman cleared his division on the way up. He’s now rematching and waiting for the new generation.
I think there's a few interesting fights left for Usman - Luque, Khamzat, maybe Wonderboy or Chiesa. He's only had rematches because those particular opponents are great at selling PPVs.
That second fight with Masvidal should have never happened, a most undeserved rematch that only happened because of money. Yes the KO was dope but it doesn't matter.

@@hbsports4431 Jessica Eye was on a 4 fight losing streak at WBW a weak division, with losses like Bethe Correia, before going on a 3 fight winning streak at WFW and getting a title shot, Priscila Cachoeira is one of the worst fighters on contract in the UFC amd was signed only to try and get Valentina a KO, Liz Carmouche got a title shot with a 4-3 UFC record, Kaitlyn Chookagian lost to Eye and Carmouche and still got a title shot and is considered the #2 in the division, Jennifer Maia got a title shot off a 1 fight win streak and 3-2 UFC record, Lauren Murphy is terrible but was able to put a win streak vs even worse fighters to get a title shot, Jessica Andrade is 5'1 and only fought at WFW bc its so bad shes not at all built for it, Moddaferi is 25-19 but still ranked, the only people who are blind are the people who think this division isnt actual garbage
@@Ahdhsuchhwu72 Andrade is still a great win for Shevchenko though, especially with the way she did it. She may be small but she's still very dangerous, she gave Rose who is one of the best female fighters on the planet one of the hardest fights of her career. Women's Flyweight is not great but its marginally better than Women's Bantamweight, plus there are some young and interesting prospects coming up. We'll see how they perform in the future.

Anybody who thinks Izzy is underrated knows nothing about Martial Arts
GSP cleared out and rematched the generation before him and his generation and was working on clearing out the new generation when he retired. came back and beat bisping a fighter that represents that same generation as hendricks but before the usman's and adesanya's of the world and won with relative ease after r1.

@@Ty-oe4dr In the era of GSP, opponents were not as tough as the likes of Covington and Masvidal whom Usman beat twice. Even Gilbert Burns is a higher grade fighter than most that GSP defended his title against. If we look at quality rather than quantity, Usman is up there. But even if we deduce the conversation to quantity, he's still on his way there. Besides Chimaev, I don't see anyone in lineup that presents a big challenge
@@jon_s masvidal is not on the level of most of the guys that challenged for the belt. even burns and covington arent on the level of penn or hughes. gsp is hard to beat in the goat convo because he has a lot of defenses against good ass fighters. usmans only way to get ahead is to either get more defenses than gsp or have his next couple wins be against crazy good dudes. hes running out of time so the latter seems like the route to take

There's no one else from that era that could match the skillset of today's fighters. That's why GSP looked ahead of his time beating them. Bring the same Calibre of fighter into the octagon today and they won't make it to top 10. That's just the fact. And that's why Kamaru Usman and Khabib Nurmegomedov will be GOAT until fresh bloods with new skills contest their goat status.

honestly. she deserved it more than adesanya for sure. has beaten everyone in the top 5 except talia santos, then has wins over current #9 jessica Eye, priscilla cachoeira, liz carmouche, julianna pena, holly holm, and joanna. in total, she has wins over 4 champions (5 since I'm counting the second Amanda fight too), and has never lost at 125. I think she rivals Amanda for best female fighter of all time

Adesanya made all the best middleweights in the ufc look like easy work. I love usman but he can't compete with what izzy has done. masvidal isn't that great and woodley was no where near his prime.

GSP won two titles off Matt Hughes, ended John Fitches undefeated streak, beat Nick Diaz in his prime, smashed BJ Penn when BJ Penn was on top, avenged both his losses, If we get super technical, he’s only lost 5-6 rounds in 28 fights.

By the time Anderson let himself be KO'd, he had been trying to give the title away. Don't believe me? just take a look at 5-4 bouts before the Weidman KO, like around the Leites, Maia fights.....as Cage Fighter, I always said to those who asked, "I'll do it until it's no longer fun for me", and I could tell that Anderson was growing tired of the Obligation that comes with the #1 Headband, he was tired of Dana and he just wanted to be in Brazil, teaching The Spider's way of Muay Jitsu and growing his family. Mad Respect!
Anderson could have been GOAT but yeah he got sloppy for several fights and eventually got caught and paid the price.

Liddell and Usman had too many rematches with fighters that they had already beaten to be included on this list.
I get this, but keep in mind Usman has also already beaten contenders like Leon earlier in his career, and although Leon is a totally different fighter now, I still think Usman will handle him easily. He’s beaten Gilbert, Colby and Jorge twice, and if he does beat Leon, the only other top 5 guy I could see getting a shot is Luque, but he even still needs another fight.

The thing people don't give Jon Jones credit for is that he didn't just beat guys, he beat them at their own game. Out grinded DC, out muay thai'ed shogun etc.
